Life pretty much said not to me. Wish I was able to get a degree and teach violin but it is what it is I guess.
@@LagunaMental423 that is okay! I’m learning sometimes that enjoying and being a lover of the arts is a way of pursuing in itself. :)
Hi Sophie! I can't explain how helpful and inspiring this video is. I have always been a musical kid but never lived in an area with or had the resources to have private lessons or be in bands until high school. I came from a pretty weak band program that went through three directors-partially due to COVID, partially due to their own lives-and ended up taking a gap year after graduating with little playing after high school due to health. I've wanted to go into music (I've decided on Music Ed) for a while now, and as I've been finally preparing this last year I've learned that I'm quite behind and have been trying to work hard to get better. I know the instructor I will be learning euphonium with wants the student to be teachable, which gives me some hope, but I only hope I have improved between November and January as that is what he's asked of me.
@@crose Hi there! I’m so so happy to hear that this video has been helpful to you. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and story. That’s amazing you persisted despite any difficult circumstances. Wishing you the best as you go on in your journey!! :)

Good question what is a good tone? I work on it as beginner with 69. So far I feel good with the sounds up and down. But needs much concentration. I take time for that basic exercise.
@@DieterLo1 that’s great! Agreed, it takes much concentration. Thanks for sharing :)
@@SophieCViolinToday i started to use a bow corrector. Always felt impossible to hold the bow straight. I try different things to become better. Also take care of Kolophonium and clean the strings. Trying to find out what influences the good or bad tone. But do improve gradually.
@@DieterLo1 That is great!! So glad to hear you are improving. :)
Another great lesson Sophie. To me violin vibrato seems to be more difficult than sax vibrato. You save my time and money! Thank you!❤

Hi, what do you mean?
Well, old home week! I attended Sewanee Summer Music Center (as it was then called) waaaay back in 1977. And loved it! I was a high school sophomore. And I go to a concert every summer with my friend who was at Sewanee with me--this past summer we were there for the combined Sewanee Symphony/Cumberland Orchestra concerts, so we heard you without knowing it. Great job!

Thank you Sophie, I find you here, please making these videos , I need it so badly , violin is so hard and I need guidance thank you again and again
Absolutely, violin is hard! I will gladly continue to make videos. Best wishes to you! :)
Thank you so much Sophie, your tips are great, I am self taught , can you do a string crossing slur , in a bunch of notes in one bow in a small hand. It is really a killer, it is always not clean , uneven because I can't stretch , I really appreciate if you can help out
Hello! I am so glad you find my videos helpful. As for a string crossing slur (I believe you are referring to bariolage bowing?) , I recommend practicing open string first and the left hand separately. Left hand try to practice it reduced in chords, not thinking of it one note at a time. The string crossings are best practiced open string first. Then, try slowly combining the two. I hope this can help!!
