    Hi LJP Tech, Thank you so much. You were my saviour today! :) After our housing complex power was shut down for a couple of hours during the day, the fridge was stuck at 'vacation' mode (plug & leaves icon) and we were wondering why the fridge section was not cooling enough and why all temperature signs turned off. Thanks to your video, I fugured out how to make the fridge live again by turning mains power off/on with a 5-10 min rest and then pressing the Freezer (#1) & Fridge (#3) buttons simultaneously until all temperature lights came back and I could set the fridge temperature back from 'vacation' mode to -3 degrees Celsius. A BIG THANK YOU!!!!!! Cheers.

      @@ljptech The problem just reappeared again, after a particularly hot day yesterday (same as last time). I just redid your procedure, which worked again. Is it not possible to fix that for good? You write above "it automatically thinks it has become commercial use for opening the door more than 20-30 secs." - does this mean that strictly avoiding opening the door that long on a hot day will prevent this from happening? What does "thinks it has become commercial use" mean, exactly? Is this the so-called 'vacation mode'?
      Fyi, my RB31 fridge is ~5-6 years old, so that quite fits your above description of this problem, which has, until 2 weeks ago, not appeared and has now shown itself for the 2nd time in 2 weeks, each time after a particularly hot day.

    LJP Tech, My Mom has the same refrigerator, in June last year stop working because we had storm which cause the power surge. My mom has old home power installations without surge protection and digital inverted has break down. It cost around £100 pound to replace. Next I have connected refrigerator using the extension with the power surge protection.
    I think, this refrigerator with the digital inverter is very sensitive, like a computer and need a good power surges protection.

    • @ljptech
      @ljptech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, refrigerator is too smart nowadays

    • @andreallridge1695
      @andreallridge1695 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had that problem a number of times now with my Samsung RB31 fridge, and it always appeared to be connected to prior lightning storms in summer after a hot day. Thankfully, I was always able to "revive" the fridge with the procedure described in the video, last time yesterday (twice). I also recently added a surge protector to the fridge's power supply, but that didn't prevent it from going into Vacation mode yesterday, so I fear it has little to do with power surges and more with temperature.

    Did you call a technician to run diagnostics? These things have a basic computer (replaceable) inside and we all know how computers misbehave over time.
    The other thing I can think of is "Does the fridge door shut correctly?" We had an issue involving that. It looked shut. The fridge thought it was shut but it wasn't. Each time I opened the door, there were condensation droplets on the fridge ceiling and around the inner frame.
    When we replaced the fridge in another kitchen, we went for an LG but it has some issues too. The fridge temperature in the "Veg drawer" goes to 0°C sometimes (yes, ice). This happens when freezer works for long hours. A similar kind of reset has to be done so the freezer checks its temperature and stops.
    It is a diagnostic type reset. It emits a long fax machine sound that the LG App on my phone picks up and analyses for faults in the system. Says no issues but that's not what I experienced.

    Quick Guide Basic Tips:
    Refrigerator Removes the warm air inside the compartment and Leave the Cool Air Behind and that's how it Cool:
    1. Since the warm air is being removed then logically the air needs to go somewhere. Kindly, Leave 2 or more inches of Spaces for Clearance to avoid the Cooling Issues
    2. Make sure that it is Leveled Slightly Leaning Backwards to avoid Leaking and helps with draining along with closing the door easily. Use a screedriver to adjust the front wheels until it doesn't touch the floor.
    3. Make sure to give some space for the Vents Internally or Inside the Compartment to avoid Circulation Problem or Condensation
    4. Ice Maker has a hidden button to Reporgram or Reboot itself. Don't use a hair dryer because it will damage the sensor.
    5. Use the Power Cool for Fridge Standard Temperature is 34 to 44 Degrees Farenheight as well as Power Freeze to -8 to 5 Degrees Farenheight as an Added Feature to Expedite the Cooling.
    6. Always use the User Manual and Check for Available Options.

    I experienced the 'vacation mode' shutdown problem on my RB31 fridge again 2 times during particularly hot days and was again able to revive the fridge using the described procedure. I was just wondering, has anyone found a permanent solution for this, or the source for the fridge going into 'vacation mode' in the first place? In my case the source is not the 20-30sec maximum time leaving the door open (we are very careful not to surpass that after becoming aware of this problem).
