That whole album has an extreme emotional connection to the band. If they put a song on the album that's attached to a negative situation, they will have relive that scenario every time it's played. That's my take.

Just looked it up and saw that Dois Rios and Quebec were both released in 2003. When you factor in the writing process and mastering, the songs were probably written in 2002 and they sound similar by coincidence

It's not too difficult. Use a program like Audacity to balance out the audio between left/right. The interface is pretty simple to use. I ran through all of the Caesar Demos, Little Miss Mandee, and the Long Beach Island Tapes with Audacity and cleaned up the audio for each track sometime last year. It took me about two or three hours, tops. A lot of their unreleased stuff was recorded on some low quality equipment with insane amounts of hissing. Audio software lets you edit all of that hissing/crackling out with the "Noise Reduction" option. It ain't perfect, but it'll have to do until the boys decide to do something with those old tracks.
