I read to relax, both fiction and nonfiction (nonfiction on topics I'm really interested in). I love checking digital books out from our public library. I don't spend anything, I can do it anytime, and I don't have to leave the house. Win, win, win!
I like to sit outside and just stare up at the sky at night. It’s so relaxing and you can turn into prayer time. No phone, alone, just you, the night sky and God. Other ways are cooking slowly and enjoying what I’m cooking, playing in the dirt with plants known as gardening and sewing fun stuff:)
When weather permits, I sit on my screen porch. I close my eyes for 10 minutes and listen to the sounds around me. Cutting out the visual input really helps me re-center my brain and appreciate the audio sensations. I've come to realize when I'm tired I don't need a nap, just setting a timer for 10-15 minutes and closing my eyes is a very good thing.
Last week in the depth of the snow in San Antonio Texas We had no heat or water The land line was broken the cell tower down We had a fire in the fireplace and warm clothes. I spent almost the whole day just watching the beautiful snow sifting down from the sky. As hard as things were we were blessed with a day of spectacular beauty that I will carry in my heart forever. Having minimalized my things, even in the dark I could find warm hat or gloves. Happy to know that extra clothes I no longer had went to those who were cold that day
Yay, thanks for mentioning "hygge", Dawn! 👏😁🎉 Hygge is an integral part of my day here in Denmark: enjoying the small things, taking time to "just be". Outside in nature, in our cosy homes, with friends and family: it's so much more than candles and blankets 😊💖🌱🕯🇩🇰
I’m also in San Antonio and so much went wrong in the snow storm last week. The electricity being out when we were seeing temperatures drop to 6 degrees ( which I had never experienced in my life and and Im 54). No water or showering for 6 days. I couldn’t make it out of my snow covered driveway, although there was no where to go since the grocery stores were closed because no electricity and the stop lights weren’t working. There were Pipes breaking, heaters breaking, I can go on and on. It was a mess for a week and it was one of the best things I have ever experienced. The way the neighbors came out and helped each other was incredible! I’m crying just thinking about it. Anyone with a pool offered neighbors water to flush out their toilets with. There were no plumbers available to help people with broken pipes, since pipes were breaking all over the city. So neighbors went out and helped each other repair pipes! . If someone in the Nextdoor app asked if anyone knew of a store open that still had drinking water, you would have 10 neighbors delivering water from their own stash to them in minutes! After the electricity came on, people’s central heaters had broken because of the electricity kept coming on and off so much for some. One person was asking if anyone had an extra space heater. She had 20 replies within minutes and neighbors offering to fix their central heater! Who knew how many talented and big hearted people lived amongst us. We have “Primarily Primates” down the street who provides shelter for former lab monkeys or ex pets. They had no electricity and some of the animals were starting to die. They had over 60 volunteers go take them generators and help transport some to the zoo and other shelters who still had electricity and offered room. The whole thing ended a week ago, and I am still on such a happy high. I honestly didn’t think people cared anymore and I’ve never been happier to be so wrong.
@@cynthiafisher9907 Thank you, that is so sweet. I didn’t even know it had made it to the national news until it was over. I’m a news junky, but I didn’t watch the news once that week. Anytime the electricity came on for a little while, we would try to charge our phones to try calling the electric and water companies, as well as check in with family and neighbors on the phone, or the Nextdoor app. It’s heartwarming to know that you all were thinking of us during that time. Thank you. ❤️ 🙏
There is an elderly lady that sent friend request. I accepted. She's 80. and her & husband were separated in different assisted living as he severe Alzheimer's. And she is so heartbroken. And I felt so bad for her. I sent a GIF of a large blue fuzzy monster? Hugging a little girl completely enveloping her. And she thanked me. She said it made her feel it. And she just kept thanking me. I am a bawling mess right now. 🙏🤗
My dad said one of his friends who was 106 and in a nursing home died of loneliness. Every one said she was still healthy. Her only complaint was that she didn't have visits Because of covid. Praying the nursing homes set up zoom visits w volunteers. My only child, teen daughter said if it were not for the zoom friend that she visits once a week she would have gone crazy this last year. She did have to get on depression medication.
@@designdoctor247 so Sad....my mil was in a home and we had it all organized with family so she would have a visit every day, I was so grateful she passed away right before Covid, I couldn't have imagined her all alone😔
Same here, and I love how she looks back at the place in time when the text was written. Not a lot of pastors do that, which is why I don’t belong to a church. Yes Diana, you have a gift! 💝
@@pnwflipper2089, I think it should be that you go back in the content of time and who anything is written to understand it better. Pastor are supposed study that to bring into concept with in their teachings. You are the one who is supposed to look for a church that; teaches from the Bible and help understand it so, your faith can grow. Not just because you where born in a church you stay there. You have to look for a place to grow and that feeds your spirit.
My daily treat has become "The Minimal Mom" and my weekly treat are the videos with Diana. I elevate this actually from "treat" to "self-care." It is beyond bolstering how much better the world feels with these grounded messages of affirmation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Amish romance novels! 😆 We love the Little House books. I’ve got my son, my dad, my mother-in-law, and some friends passing the series around. They are perfect for relaxing before bed, and helping us to count our blessings. Before lockdown, my 7 year old was struggling with entitlement and a few other behaviors and I credit Laura Ingalls Wilder for straightening that out for us!
lol want to kick your life up a bit? Eat an orange or a clementine with the eating meditation I mentioned above... and oh my goodness have you tried ginger tea with honey?? Apple juice warmed with a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar added... in the winter.. WOW.. start with a teaspoon maybe if you have not experienced the kick of ACV. Awesome and easy. When awesome and easy get together that is AMAZING. Congrats on not looking at your phone, by the way. Really, I know it can get to be compulsive. People walk into poles cause they cannot take their eyes off their phones. GREAT Habit! You ROCK.
I am blessed because I know how to play the piano. I MUST play everyday because it brings me such joy and it fills my soul. I mostly play arrangements of hymns and praise songs. I’m so thankful for people who have written and arranged these meaningful songs. For me, playing the piano is an act of worship.
I am downsizing and have a BEAUTIFUL Baby Grand piano that I love going up for sale soon! My daughter says she will help me place it on Facebook Maketplace. Our piano is in Wisconsin. Sad to let it go, but we are in new stage of life. If anyone is interested, please let me know!! 🙂
I’m not a religious person (agnostic) but I want to compliment Diana’s portion of these videos and her lovely prayers. She lights up when she speaks of faith and it’s beautiful to see her share the love that pours out of her. You two are a delight!
Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life; no-one comes to God except through Me (John 14:6). Jesus wants you to to cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Only by repenting of sin and trusting in Jesus to guide your life are you spiritually safe for all eternity. I encourage you to prayerfully read The Holy Bible ❤
I love that you mentioned a soft blanket. Some years ago, I was given the softest blanket ever. It was so comforting to cuddle under it at the end of a stressful day. Then my dad had a stroke and I carried it with me because I never knew when I would have to spend the night at the hospital. It became a security blanket. Now here I am one month shy of 60 and I always sleep with my blanket.
HYGGE - 1. nature, go outside or bring nature inside, 2. Warm lighting, 3. Aroma therapy 4. Textiles, calming colors and texture, 5. Warm foods and beverages, 6. Togetherness, 7. MUSIC. 😊. 💯💯. I buy flowers in winter and pick flower for inside in spring and summer. THANK YOU FOR ENCOURAGING US❣️❣️. The joy of the Lord is my strength!
The quote from my inspiring quotes deck today "We rise by lifting others". Self care includes exercise, coffee, nutrition, making my bed, washing dishes and a hot shower. Mostly because these are all privileges and inspire gratitude.
Diana, I hate talking on the phone too! But I love to write notes! So instead of calling to tell a neighbor how it makes my morning to see him walking and wave to him as I leave for work each day, I wrote him a note. People love when someone takes time to send a letter or card with special words.
I loved this one. I listened to it online as an ebook through my library. I find reading a bit exhausting because of my astigmatism but ebooks are great. My library mentioned in a post recently that audio books are just as good for the brain as actually reading.
Always look forward to your posts dawn. Love all the different elements you bring to us and we really appreciate all the effort and love you put into these videos. From Minimalism, spirituality and sisterly fun with Diana, your family and projects with the main man Tom! Hope you are having a nice break. We love you! 🥰
Starting my day with journaling, prayer and Bible reading, ending my day with a good book and drawing or painting at least once a week is my recipe to stay sane and happy 😊
Cross stitch and embroidery are my favorite ways to do something creative and fun. I can sit in the same room with our son, while he watches TV, and I stitch. I get the newspaper on my iPad, so I can read while I drink my coffee. I take my coffee black. When I first started drinking coffee, at age 18, I decided that I didn’t want to be “high maintenance “ and have never added anything to coffee or iced tea.
I like to sew and to bake but a few years ago I was sewing a quilt block I'd not done before. Afterwards realized I felt so refreshed and accomplished. It truly felt like worship and realized I had connected with the Father in the creative process. Same thing has happened in baking a new, different recipe. I love how the Father wires us uniquely!
"Risen motherhood" podcast, so good, quick little mom devotional talks that are usually very practical. I listen while I wash dishes when my toddler naps.
Diana, I’d never heard of hygge before either. Let’s add learning something new to the self-care list! Always love the laughter the two of you share. Thank you for that. ~ Jo Anne
I love this idea. I would love a group that was all about this. What knew thing you've learned. Because, as a mom and wife I feel like my life revolves around them, and I don't have time to just focus on me and learning new things. Such a great idea!
Diane in Denmark, who lives in Copenhagen, does her hygge things on most of her TH-cam videos. I love watching her "Fly Lady" and "Dressing your Truth" videos as well.
Wow....just loved this episode! I want to replay it later and maybe once a month or so. I thought it was funny that the journal image was in a different language! I was kind of nosy and really looked at it....but can't understand! I think it's great that way! I already do so many of these self-care things, but never named it "self-care" although these habits really do care for me. I love to knit and journal. Listening to MM is really hygge for me! I recommend the Mitford Series for reading. It's inspiring as well as relaxing, not to mention laugh out loud funny. One funny thing I discovered is strangely relaxing is cooking videos on youtube...esp street food cooking. Last but most important is memorizing Scripture. When I put the Bible in my memory, I can pray and completely rest as I recite the verses in my mind anywhere I go or anytime I sleep. It's the most profitable way to care for myself EVER! Thank you girls SO MUCH. (I have 31 year old twin girls so I can call you girls, I think.)
Oh the Mitford series is SO good! I listen to Stuart McLean (rip) CDs. They are relaxing and funny and very easy to listen to. We use them a lot when traveling and waiting for laundry at the campsite. Fun, clean entertainment. Also The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. Such an enjoyable series.
Thank you for the idea of memorizing Scripture as self care. Of course! The One who created us gave us the perfect thing to bring rest to our souls, minds, spirits! When everything else passes away, the Word of God will still stand.
Crafting or sewing is therapy to me. Also, taking time to read the Bible. I like listening to the Daily Grace Podcast, The Bible Recap and A Slob Comes Clean. Diana, I like those Amish romance books too! Have you ever read any of Grace Livingston Hill’s books? They’re so good! Not Amish romance but they are Christian romance so super clean and she shares the gospel in them! I’ve been reading them since I was a teen and still love them. Hope you both have a super blessed week!!!
I love the podcasts “the Bible in a year” with Father Mike Schmitz and “Saint Stories for Kids”. My kids and I listen to both as I push them in the stroller.
Wow! As I listened, I kept saying "Yes! Me too!", out loud: Your comment, Dawn, about how it was just easier to stay home rather than take some time away, Diana's comment about how it is hard to watch/read anything scary, intense; I just had this conversation with my husband yesterday! And, I also feel like I need a self-care routine for stress relief but feel like I don't have the luxury of time. There are nine of us in a 2-bedroom house, and I feel like it's all I can do to just keep the clutter at bay. Thank you for sharing this today!
One of my favorite verses and so key to remember these days. My pastor is doing a sermon series on Throwing Shade (Eph 4:29) discussing “tongue” verses. One challenge was to not complain to each other and to use encouraging words instead. We can share our complaints to God like David did in Psalm 142:1-2. It is truly transforming your mind to be encouraging instead of complaining and then you are blessed as well as those around you! Love you two!
Ohhhh, this is so good. I'm writing this down. Such a great idea and I'm horrible with complaining. I pray about these things, but I still complain about them. So, I'm definitely going to try this. 🙂
@@marenbrekke Hi! Yes they do. You can search on TH-cam for Harbor Church Throwing Shade 2//21/21 sermon. It was so good!! Hope you enjoy it!! God bless
Great video as usual. My favorite podcast is Mike Rowe's "The Way I heard it". He is an excellent writer and storyteller. Thank you for your great work ladies ❤
I love that you did this as a video! As a COMPLETE self-care novice, I do find myself "treating" rather than finding a self-care routine that actually fulfills. I'm learning slowly that I matter, and I need to matter to myself in the midst of the chaos that is life.
My self care is wearing a good pair of slippers. Yhere are always crumbs on the floor so if my feet feel crumbs I get annoyed so slippers automatically takes that trigger away 😄 I also take a bath if I'm overwhelmed or go on a walk. Getting outside is huge for me.
Crochet, piano, crafting, yes i just picked this up again recently and you can’t eat while you do it 🤣 I actually do like to get creative in cooking and making freezer meals it’s quite meditative
One of my hobbies that is so relaxing to me is gardening. But of course I can’t do that in the winter. My winter time hobby is scrapbooking. A really good daily self care is to do a 20-30 minute workout. Usually it’s time by myself and it makes me feel good afterwards.
I exercise, read and do crafts (when I give myself time). "People have time for what they want to have time for" is one of my life mottos and what I nicely say to people when they hear that I exercise almost everyday. I love what Dawn said about playing on the phone versus IRL--it is SO true. I enjoy Sudoku puzzle books and adult dot-to-dot books. I can't give a suggestions on podcasts--Sunday morning with the two of you is the closest thing I do like that. THANK YOU SO MUCH for these Sunday morning "self-care" sessions. Blessings!
Hi Dawn, I really love it when your sister comes into your videos. She brings in a refreshing spiritual element and view which complements and adds more depth to your video. Feeling blessed and recharged after watching this video.
I so resonate with Diana saying after she became a mom she needed lighthearted! I’m a nurse and I see so much trauma I need completely non stressful entertainment!
Would you please pray for me, I had a co worker say some very unkind things to me. I Pray and listen to Charles Stanley to feel better. Thank you for your prayers, it's hard pretending everyday your fine .
Dear God, please help Ell to be assured that her worth is not in what other's think or say. Encourage her and help her focus on the things that bring her peace and you glory. Amen
Try not to allow that negative coworker to rent too much space in your head. Some people can just be mean. I have found the best way to handle mean people is to avoid them and when not possible to kill them with kindness. 😂 I’m praying for you right now. 🙏🏻
This year I encouraged my 2nd grader to make lots of Valentines to send to family & friends. We had so much fun making them I got addresses for nursing homes & we sent ones to them as well. What started as an idea to make up for not having a class Valentines exchange turned into a beautiful outreach of love. Our library had a project for making Valentines for children in foster care & at a local juvenile detection facility, so we jumped on that too! The rules for the facility were very specific, so I made those cards & she focused on ones for foster children. I had such fun being creative & colorful, embracing this new opportunity to show love to others.
I'm already starting up for us to make Easter or Happy Spring cards to send to the same groups. If anyone else interested, contact your local nursing homes. They all told me to address to the Activity Director. In this past year of disconnect, we need to reinforce the bonds of humanity.
Our church service only stopped meeting for the initial 2 weeks in Feb 2020. We held to that verse and decided to continue to meet. We had an online option for those who didn’t feel comfortable coming. But we believe God blessed us for that choice. He has kept us together (our giving was actually more than the previous year😳). Please don’t live in fear. God is our conqueror!! I’m one of many, many who has been sick with Wuhan virus and recovered. May God protect us all.
Thank you for being a peaceful place of goodness, truth, and beauty on TH-cam. Sometimes when I need a breather, I go get lunch or dinner by myself and sit in my car, alone, to eat it. This gives me time to work through my thoughts.
Trying to get out of feeling like I'm just existing. caring for our newborn and 2 year old, out of practice reading the word and praying for quite some time. You blessed and encouraged me immensely today. thank you!
Hygge. Danish word for coziness. My parents were first generation Swedish Americans. My mother taught me this concept growing up but didn't give it a name. But she always made our house cozy and sweet. Lamps on in the evening rather than the overhead ceiling light. Such a little thing but wow what a difference that can make. Fire in the fireplace or candles burning. Something yummy smelling coming from the kitchen. I have great childhood memories of all those things and tried to do all that for my children. And now I do it for myself. So important. I'm glad you brought that up Dawn. And Diana I love that you've been living under a boulder! That made me laugh.
A game we recently found is Pit. We have been really enjoying playing this as a family as with our friends. I’ve been enjoying Trim Healthy Mama Podcast and the Lazy Genius podcast. I recently discovered Denise Hunter and fell in love with her Chapel Springs series.
I am on my journey as we speak to “learn” to self care, learn about self care...I love listening/watching y’all ..You both encourage and motivate me to be a better person...I’m single, my son is 21, and I recently lost my mom/best friend...Honestly I have no idea what I’m doing ...So thank you, thank you very much!!!!
You two are so precious! I love the lighthearted banter and your transparency. Your prayer at the end is a wonderful suave to my soul. God bless you both for opening up your hearts to others.
I meditate, reclined on pillows on my bed with warm rice bags under my back, EVERY SINGLE DAY for minimum 20 minutes, before starting supper. And, daily 30 min-1hr walks. #lifechanging
I love playing the piano and singing. Or listening to my favourite musicians offline. Without distracting videos, just LISTENING and actually trying to understand the lyrics and taking in the music. That's really relaxing to me.
I’m a mother to 5 total, but oldest two are grown and on own. I have no self-care routine, but I’m working toward minimalism and that is actually self-care to me. I feel better. Every now and again I sit and crochet, which is my favorite little hobby. I love to listen to my favs on TH-cam while I do tasks...the minimal mom!!
Podcasts I love are The Splendid Table, The Good Dirt, Dinner Sisters, The Bible Recap, The Bible Binge, Dr. Zorba Paster, That Sounds Fun with Annie Downs, Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey, to name a few.
Nothing better than a hot bubble bath! Also, I have de-cluttered soooo much stuff from our home in the last few months. I started in November right before we remodeled our master bath. I had 4 large trash bags from my closet. I found you all in mid-January and last week I went through my closet again and still removed 2 more bags of clothes...SUCH FREEDOM!!
You are soooooo lucky to have a sister. My only brother (who was 15 years older than me) passed away two years ago. Please appreciate and love her. I REALLY would loooove a sister.
I've just found your channel and I've been watching videos deciding if I wanted to subscribe and this video was it! I love the scripture and relating it to real life and the message of love and kindness.
I completely agree with you about the types of books I enjoy reading as a busy Mom. It needs to be light and "easy". I've actually taken to reading young adult fiction with my middle schooler. The books help me relax and fall asleep, plus it gives me something to talk to my son about. 📚
I like Wondery’s “Business Wars”. They talk about how businesses like Levi’s and Wrangler came into being and their competition. Also, my husband does 2 minute podcasts about a scripture and they are very uplifting! His podcast is “Life by Design” by Dr. Dan Stanley. He has a PhD in Christian counseling/psychology and they often deal with psychological issues.
Decluttering, learning from your page and others, has really helped me feel better. The "inventory" getting less and less each few weeks has been helping me feel better.
I really love your sister Sunday episodes. Thank you for your positivity and for a glimpse of your relationship. Thank you for reminding me about what really matters. God bless. P.S. My self care is reading the Bible along with the Bible Recap podcast every morning, listening to ebooks on my commute to and from work, and getting my nails done every 10 days. Getting my nails done really makes me feel so good about myself. I have struggled my whole life with nail biting and getting my nails done is worth every penny for me.
I love many wide and varied podcasts. First is Anything from The Land of Israel podcasts shows. Especially Israel Inspired, The Yishai Fleisher Show, and the Eve Harrow Show. They help me stay connected to the Land of Israel and the People of Israel. Then I also love Feel Better Live More with Dr Rangan Chattergee, Simple Farmhouse Life, Broken Brain podcast, and Awaken with JP Sears. Big variety, but they help keep me from feeling so isolated and left out of the loop.
I keep nodding the entire video and agreeing 100%. EVERYTHING. Something about the state of the world, being a Mom to young kids and surviving how we can, we are kindred spirits in current life right now. Love the perspectives as always.
I’ve recently got into podcasts (as I can still declutter 😉). There are lots of decluttering and minimalism focused ones, and of course Dana from a Slob Comes Clean has one 👍🏼
I love to play soft music and work my 1000 piece puzzles. It's relaxing and sounds silly, but so fun to find that elusive piece. God Bless you two !! I so enjoy following you and you are such a BLESSING to so many !!!!
Love these discussions on self-care. I have been thinking along these lines too- im actually in the middle of writing an article on self-care for my blog! Definitely like making the distinction between self-care and treats.
Diane...you nailed it for me when you said about not being able to get to the ' mental space' because of stuff...it's obvious, but the way you put it was a light bulb moment for me. Also there is the struggle of perfectionism...so getting to the end of the sorting the space, before we allow ourselves to create or relax...so it's a perpetual battle as there is no such thing as ' sorted'...and self care can't wait.
I'm a knitter. It is my passion, my hobby, my creative outlet & sometimes my meditation! I knit everyday, even if it is only for a few minutes. I'm also now sharing this joy in my life with 3 friends that have varying degrees of experience and we knit together (over Zoom every Sunday morning), chat, support one another in whatever is going on in our lives. After I meet with these 3 friends I then watch you and Diana, then join my congregation virtually (in whatever way we our worshipping this week, sometimes Zoom, sometimes FB Live, sometimes a pre-recorded video). I look at all 3 of these rituals that I do on Sunday as self-care. Thank you, Dawn & Diana, for being a part of that!
Loved Diana’s reaction to Dawn saying Hygge. Diane in Denmark TH-cam was my first intro to the concept and I can’t get enough of creating Hygge in my home. Especially now (Covid life). Just listened to a book on Hygge from a “happiness expert”. It was insightful and good ideas for creating more of this Danish coziness in your life. Apparently, a fireplace is right up there. Hygge increases happiness!
Memoirs, too, can be a great unwind. You can feel like you're sitting with a friend opening up their soul. Their story made be hard to tell but you feel good they can share and you're there to listen.
I want to point out that there are literally thousands of great TH-cam tutorials for all kinds of art...you don't have to pay for another subscription service 😉
I am in a brand new season of my life, having retirred 3 months ago. Doing the chronological Bible studyThe Bible Recap 💗, picked up knitting again. Walking daily, writing letters yes, snail mail! Sending cards of encouragement, taking long bubble baths, trying new recipes. These all help me stay grateful and productive. Thank you both for the love and care you show us all. You are definitely salt and light.
"When calls the Heart" by jannett Oke amazing Christian fiction books 📚 I've read them over and over and feel like some of the characters are my best friends ❤💜💗💕💖♥❤💜💗💕💖♥❤ 25 gratitudes ....reminds me of the Bible verse..."pray about ALL things GIVING 😊THANK S "
Maybe it goes along with gratitude, but taking a few moments to appreciate beauty when I notice it. On my drive home the other day there was a gorgeous sunset! I wanted to enjoy it a little more without the distraction of driving so I parked my car where I could see it well and watched the colors grow and fade with the trees silhouetted in front of them. I was like, "Thank you God for that gift," especially after a long day.
I like to paint things at times. Like I got a couple baskets at a thrift store and I enjoy painting them and finding purpose for them around my home. I like to change out things. Like I like doilies so those I have a handful off and I change those around my house to add a little lace or color. So decorating with those things. I also like to sit and watch TH-cam videos by you guys :) and my husband and I used to just take drives. When we lived in North Central PA we loved to drive through the woods and go near a stream and get out and walk around a tad. It is always refreshing to be in nature and know God made that. I sense Gods presence in the beautiful nature he has made around us. Of course in AZ many place like Tucson or Phoenix not as many trees but if you go to Northern AZ beautiful trees that are native to hear. I do miss the midwest and PA area. Those trees are beautiful. God bless you both.

Diane, I need you to start a new TH-cam channel (and you should totally call it Minimal Living, Maximum Worship), because it’s so hard for me to find people who take such a practical, honest approach to bible study. You’re so knowledgeable, and so relaxing to listen to. Disclaimer: Dawn is fantastic and I love her just as much! ❤️
Yesterday when I was looking at some pictures of home styling/furnishing tips -- they all looked *too crowded* and *cluttered*! Thanks, Dawn (& Tom and Diana) for letting me go on this journey with you, minimalizing and simplifying my life and home.
We'd love to know what you do to unwind?? It's fun to hear your ideas!!! And we hope you have a great day! Love, Dawn + Diana

Sorry to hear what you have been through, but it is wonderful to hear people were helping each other however they were able.
That’s an amazing story! Those of us not affected by this cold front were so worried for you guys.
What state is that lady in? Maybe we can do something to get them together again.
Beautiful! That is a positive story!!
This is heart breaking ;_;
@@designdoctor247 so Sad....my mil was in a home and we had it all organized with family so she would have a visit every day, I was so grateful she passed away right before Covid, I couldn't have imagined her all alone😔
I'm not hugely religious, but really appreciate Diana's devotions. She has a gift
I love the Sunday morning videos of faith, sisterhood and simple living. Thank you.
My favourite as well.
Yes, I consider this and Alyssa Beltempo’s youtube video on shopping your closet self care Sunday!
I have been drinking my morning tea without looking at my phone. Instead, just sitting.
lol want to kick your life up a bit?
This just made my heart smile.
🙂
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Please pray for me. God gave me a piano but the lessons stress me out.
@@deeb8733 praying it goes to the perfect home. 🥰
I also play. During the pandemic listening to Dino Karsinokis on youtube really lowered my anxiety.
Aroma therapy
4. Textiles, calming colors and texture, 5. Warm foods and beverages,
6. Togetherness, 7. MUSIC. 😊. 💯💯.
I buy flowers in winter and pick flower for inside in spring and summer. THANK YOU FOR ENCOURAGING US❣️❣️. The joy of the Lord is my strength!
Another self-care item for me is playing the piano. Haven't done that much lately but it always relaxes me.
Yes practicing my guitar relaxes me👍
Coffee and watching y’all on TH-cam 😆 or doing a puzzle with my husband, or reading a book outside.
Watching these videos, too.
"They kiss. Once. At the end...after they're married." 😂
The quote from my inspiring quotes deck today "We rise by lifting others". Self care includes exercise, coffee, nutrition, making my bed, washing dishes and a hot shower. Mostly because these are all privileges and inspire gratitude.
Love to listen to you two sisters laugh together. I lost my sister 30 years ago. It does my heart good. And always great advice and support.
Diana, I hate talking on the phone too! But I love to write notes! So instead of calling to tell a neighbor how it makes my morning to see him walking and wave to him as I leave for work each day, I wrote him a note. People love when someone takes time to send a letter or card with special words.
Write notes to seminarians!
Kathryn, how do we find info to write them?
We have a new college seminary serving our Diocese, I was able to get names from the Diocese website.
The Guernsey literary and Potato Peel Society- great, light hearted book to read!!!
I listened to this book for free on Libby. Then recently I saw it is on Netflix.
I read that for my book club.
I loved this one. I listened to it online as an ebook through my library. I find reading a bit exhausting because of my astigmatism but ebooks are great. My library mentioned in a post recently that audio books are just as good for the brain as actually reading.
Great book:)
It’s so sweet when you two speak so highly of your mom 🥺 I look forward to these videos every Sunday! Thank you for this content.
I reallly like your user name: "Inkingyourthinking". I think you have just inspired me to do some journaling along with prayer & Bible study!
@@TheJoyfulEye ah that is so good to hear! I’m only just figuring you tube out, so I missed your comment until now
Cross stitch and embroidery are my favorite ways to do something creative and fun.
I cross stitch too. Very meditative.
I've seen the word but never knew what it was lol!!!
This is the first time I heard it too!
Yes, Mitford! Reading them again now.
@@notavailable5911 😊Thank you for the tip! I’ll have to look her up also! Have a blessed day!
My treat to myself is you-tube watching you two and some others that inspire and motivate me. At night I read, which I thoroughly enjoy.
I love the podcasts “the Bible in a year” with Father Mike Schmitz and “Saint Stories for Kids”. My kids and I listen to both as I push them in the stroller.
I'm also following BIAY and loving it!
I’m listening to this and I enjoy his insights. Great podcast.
My husband and most of the ladies in my Bible study are doing this one as well!
Yes!! It’s so good!
Love Bible in a year ❤💛
Prayers for you. 🙏💜🙏
It must be a hard season for you! Do the best you can, this too shall pass.
I'd love to see this. Does your church post services online?
@@marenbrekke Hi! Yes they do. You can search on TH-cam for Harbor Church Throwing Shade 2//21/21 sermon. It was so good!! Hope you enjoy it!! God bless
Great video as usual. My favorite podcast is Mike Rowe's "The Way I heard it". He is an excellent writer and storyteller. Thank you for your great work ladies ❤
Yes!
I love it too!
Omgosh. These are on Amazon Music podcasts. So many neat things with an Amazon subscription.
This (and many) are on the free version of Spotify too!
Diana, I am so impressed with how you just 'name it and claim it': "I live under the biggest boulder." Me, too.
You can! Winter sowing!
I struggle in the winter because I don't garden in the winter! I am missing out on my vitamin D and general relaxing!!!
A nice candle and a cup of tea in a quiet room always helps me. A walk does wonders as well.
Blessings!
This is the ministry that this pastor’s wife needs right now right now!! Thank you!!!
I will 🤗💗
Dear God, please help Ell to be assured that her worth is not in what other's think or say.
You are enough! You are loved just the way you are!💕💕💕
I am praying for you Ell, right now. God bless, protect and strengthen you. And I am praying for someone to come beside you in your work place💜🙏
I love this! Thank you for sharing🤗
Funny, I'm sitting here listening to you while coloring which I haven't done in years. So great to be creative
A game we recently found is Pit. We have been really enjoying playing this as a family as with our friends. I’ve been enjoying Trim Healthy Mama Podcast and the Lazy Genius podcast. I recently discovered Denise Hunter and fell in love with her Chapel Springs series.
Love the podcasts too😁
I am on my journey as we speak to “learn” to self care, learn about self care...I love listening/watching y’all ..You both encourage and motivate me to be a better person...I’m single, my son is 21, and I recently lost my mom/best friend...Honestly I have no idea what I’m doing ...So thank you, thank you very much!!!!
You two are so precious! I love the lighthearted banter and your transparency. Your prayer at the end is a wonderful suave to my soul. God bless you both for opening up your hearts to others.
I love Sundays with your sister, Dawn. Thank you for sharing her with us. ❤️
I’m sorry but I could listen to Diana all day such a soothing voice esp as she prays
I meditate, reclined on pillows on my bed with warm rice bags under my back, EVERY SINGLE DAY for minimum 20 minutes, before starting supper. And, daily 30 min-1hr walks. #lifechanging
That sounds amazing!
This sounds awesome. I’m going to try it. Great idea. Thanks!
I love playing the piano and singing. Or listening to my favourite musicians offline. Without distracting videos, just LISTENING and actually trying to understand the lyrics and taking in the music. That's really relaxing to me.
Thank you for sharing about the goodness of God on Sundays!! I look forward to this each week!
I love spending this time with the two of you on Sunday mornings. 💕
You'll love Dawn's channel!
I really needed that prayer for the lonely. Thank you so much for praying it!
Thank you both for the encouraging words. Love Sunday mornings with you.
Such wisdom! Feel like I'm sitting in a ladies bible study with sisters being real & transparent. You both are precious!
I love to do jigsaw puzzles for self care. Might not be everyone's thing, but for me it's very relaxing!
They are so relaxing they put me to sleep,seriously- so my hubby does them and I read my book😉
I listen to the podcast from “The Minimalists” and I love it :-) adds tranquility to my life for sure!
I have enjoyed reading the Miss Julia series from my local library.
I started quiltiing over three years ago, and find it very relaxing and fulfilling.
The organized soprano is my favorite
I'm getting into her podcasts now that I've listened to a couple of her books twice. I'm loving it!
The "hygge" moment is the best Dawn and Diana moment to date. 🤣
"It's like a 🪨." Thanks for the laughs, ladies. Watching you two de-stresses me!!
Love Diane in Denmark!
So glad you're enjoying hygge, Mary! 👋😃💖🇩🇰
"When calls the Heart" by jannett Oke amazing Christian fiction books 📚 I've read them over and over and feel like some of the characters are my best friends ❤💜💗💕💖♥❤💜💗💕💖♥❤
25 gratitudes ....reminds me of the Bible verse..."pray about ALL things GIVING 😊THANK S "
IDK how I missed this video last year! I loved the Sunday videos! I really miss drinking my coffee with Dawn and Diana every Sunday!
I love that. 💙
Good Morning Ladies🌷🦋🌷It’s National Hygge Day today so Happy Hygge! xxx
...haha, hadn’t even got to that bit when I posted that! 🤦🏻♀️😆
😮😀
Wonderful 👏🤩 Every day is a "hygge" day here in Denmark (home of hygge)! 🇩🇰
@@DianeinDenmark Yay! 🙌🏼 Diane! I caught your videos on the January decluttering series... so jealous of you, though I’d also love to move to the Borders one day 😍🏴
@@DianeinDenmark I thought of you when they were talking about Hygge. I try to do this everyday since I've been following you. You taught me that and how to implement the fly lady system. Thank you for both! ❤️
I just started reading Amish love stories this year. ❤ I enjoy crocheting while listening to a book or youtube video.
Thank you.. This was so heart warming.. I love you two💞
I know watching a screen isn’t technically self-care, but I LOVE the mornings when you guys have posted a new Sunday video and I can watch while I enjoy my coffee.
I love to crochet, knit and sew... love to sew podcast totally recommend
Yesterday when I was looking at some pictures of home styling/furnishing tips -- they all looked *too crowded* and *cluttered*! Thanks, Dawn (& Tom and Diana) for letting me go on this journey with you, minimalizing and simplifying my life and home.
