- Arctic Cat released its 2025 M Alpha One 858 mountain sleds this week and this is our initial reaction pod. We get Todd Tupper of Cat's R&D department and David McClure on to talk about riding the '25 M 858 Alpha Ones. SnoWest test riders Justin Stevens, Broc Genta and Bruce Kerbs join host Ryan Harris in studio.

We rode with both Todd and Dave last year during the photo shoot. Great guys!
On the dual rail topic. As a Midwest guy who travels to the mountains on trips that are planned a month in advance. Sometimes the snow isn’t the best when we get out there and the alpha doesn’t do well from my experience in hero snow
Looks amazing!
The 858 2 stroke gives off an electrogavitational scalar wave. They should come out with OP 2 stroke made out of 2 858 engines like this Cummins ACE OP 2 stroke:mart.cummins.com/imagelibrary/data/assetfiles/0058689.pdf
Todd sounded fine. Answered the questions that were asked. Hes not a salesman or rep. He's not in the marketing dept. He develops race sleds. Probably ridden the sled more than anyone. Maybe he doesnt like to be probed 😂
I have a 600 Alpha , good sled ,shame they do not warranty , my controls melted at 380 kl , lost handle bar warmers ,electric start , reverse , lucky never burned to the ground , other than that great little sled .
These will have 2 year warranty
Idk about anyone else but my 2018 ctec pulls hard and fast to 90. But is all done at like 95. Hopefully this one has the top end. At least we will have an easy gear swap if not.
Did SnoWest or Arctic Cat release the prices of the new 858? or did i miss it?
Arctic Cat hasn’t released pricing. Early February we’re guessing.
Re: Dual rail. I think Cat is telegraphing their intentions a bit by dropping the Riot X. They clearly know there are limitations of the Alpha rail design. On the other hand, they also believe that as soon as the patent is up for the Alpha, others will copy it. So, they still see value in it for mountain applications, but not for trail or cross over.
Im sad that the premier non-bias outlet has now been captured by Polaris. Likely wont hear any cons about Polaris units now.
Agreed I had to double check I selected the correct video when they kicked it off
Who are we to judge on who’s good in this day and age. Be happy we can get some input on the new 858. Settle down and be thankful. 🤦♂️
That first dude they interviewed…… omg
There is gonna be tons of inventory next year for cheapppp
Already some dealers up here in BC selling 9r and boosts for 18gs ( that's a steal)
@@mudman6227 wow really
Take my money 💴
Memory serves, these guys spent a lot of time convincing the snowmobile world the all new YAMAHA MOUNTAIN MAX WAS A YAMAHA. That hasn't aged well.😂
Yeah the YamaCat. It was really an Arctic Cat with a yamaha engine. That's about it. Different clutches and paint.
Mountain Max !
The only thing that was Yamaha on it !
Was the skis .
Trust me im a Arctic and Yamaha mecanic
And the Engine and logos lol@@miclinda256
Twin rail please 🙏
That first guy sounds lost maybe that’s why their sleds never progress and use an alpha skid that most don’t like. I was excited about an 858 catalyst till I heard that interview
As if, this interview got me excited. They will have the twin rail don't you worry. And that first guy is from Arctic Cat's very own R&D dept.
Oh man, sounding good. But not for the wallet😅
Lol. Sponsored by Polaris.
I’m all for the 858. But godamnnn that was a painfully horrible interview. You think they would be pushing how much better the 858 is over the Ctech2 800. That was not good advertisement or salesmanship on the new engine. Dave Mc. saved it towards the end for sure but Goddamnnn.
They had to PRY anything out of him. Agreed, terrible spokesman
Say less…
The Todd guy they interviewed did ac no favors, worst interview , my wife was listening in the back ground and said, worst interview ever. How could you not had compared the 858 head to head against the 800.
Todd is a great guy, 100% Arctic Cat and has heavily influenced the Catalyst design and the 858. However, I agree, that wasn't a great interview. I got to ride with him at last year's photo shoot and a lot of what they talked about in this video Todd knew a year ago, but couldn't say anything.
All cat haters! Probably because got ass whopped by one f. Them
I have a feeling that they are told to be tight lipped
I think he just wasn't the best person for the interview
These are Polaris guys. Why would they say anything good about Cat.
I have driven Cat since 1974. A 634 Puma. I drag raced my dads 440Z and his 340Z in the WSRF racing association. We did awesome on those Cat’s. Owned a 700ZR and a 900ZR. My cousins drove Polaris. They would NEVER SAY ANYTHING KIND About how we would beat the snot lol out of them. But then again we did race professionally.
I'd like to see a M Hardcore 858 146-165 with an optional twin rail. With a 3.5" pitch track for the 3" lug and maybe an option for the 2.6" lug.
If not that like you all said just a twin rail option, but alpha rail is standard.
The Reason everyone wants a duel Rail is because the alpha tracks only hold up for a 1000 miles. And i ride over 1000 miles per year. I dont want to put a new track and drivers on every year.
going on year 3 and 2000 mi on my original track and driver.
I have well over 1000 miles on mine with no problems
3 years and 1600 miles on my 21 Alpha. Not a missing or torn lugs. Has held up well but I don't haul ass down the trail either, lots of guys do, then complain their 3" lugs are not holding up
2500 miles on mine….
you're wrong as seen in the comments. Mine is turbo'd and has 1300 miles...zero issues, but i dont ride trails all day lol
Carrot Basin sucks, I’d recommend you never check it out.
This guy I would fire in a artic cat second what a shitty interview for the 858 ! He sounds like he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about um um um if that’s was me I’d sound like this is the next big thing rambling on a how great my new product is just saying
These are so long and so Zzzzzzzz.
