  • This is siren #9 of the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Generating Station system. There are 40 sirens in the system that surround the plant in Scriba NY. This particular siren can be found out the corner of NY-104 and Fred Hayes Blvd in Oswego NY. The system is tested (growl) on the first Tuesday of every month. In December and June, they do a full 3-minute test (alert). This was the December 2021 Test. I recorded this test on two different devices, this is the one that gives an up-close POV.
If you listen carefully to the beginning you can hear the siren lowering in pitch and volume. The siren returns to its normal pitch and volume after about 1 minute and 10 seconds. My guess is that the siren activated on battery power then switched to regular power. The siren batteries might also be faulty causing the wavering pitch and volume.
    Camera: iPad Pro ,11-inch, 2nd Generation (4K - 60 fps)

Nice! I used my crappy old phone for my closeup video! I would've used the drone if it wasn't snowy. Hopefully next June I can get a drone video! 👍

I’m still an amateur siren recorder, so I don’t have actual cameras. That was the first time I used my iPad to record a video.

@@schoolbus110 I've got a couple of Canon Vixia camcorders. They are easy to use, have great video and sound, and you can get them cheap on eBay. I'll probably come back out to Nine Mile for a growl in the Spring! 😁
