Doesn't even own this version of the aircraft, but the explanation about the waypoint programming was fascinating! Thank you!

Hats off to anyone who still files /R in real life using the KNS-81.

I just found your channel while looking for Pilot2ATC content... I had to subscribe. You kinda make me want to fly VFR :)) I 100% fly big jets. Thank you!

Thanks! It is fun! I do a mix of VFR and IFR with Pilot2ATC, catching those readbacks can be tricky with IFR but once you get a good flow down and know what they are looking to hear back it works very well!

@@sprocketsimulations Just one question please... does it ever instruct you to go DIRECT TO a waypoint? I've seen PRO ATC SR do that but the reviews are still in P2A favor...

I’m m pretty sure I’ve been given direct to say the IAF of an approach vs flying the whole approach transition. I don’t fly many airliners and really only use sids and stars when flying turbo props as I’d get in the way of other traffic and have an A320 fly through me.
My settings are to have Pilot2ATC assign me both those and approaches. I just turn off SIDS and STARS if I don’t want them. Weather wise I was using REX but it seems like garbage compared to in game live weather now and the NOAA weather is almost always spot on with the in game METAR.

RNAV is short for "Area Navigation". The King KNS 80 really introduced Area Navigation to General Aviation in the early 70's. Besides providing Instrument Approaches to MANY more airports, it made it much easier to locate unfamiliar Airports, straighten flight plan routes, etc. The KNS 81 is the next generation unit.

Another great video. I haven't learned in using HSI yet. I usually flew the MSFS Cessna 152 and practiced using the two OBS gauges. My next step is to understand the HSI and use it. I was wondering if you would find time to do the HSI navigation part of this video again but using Little Nav Map instead of Skyvector, so you can show your aircraft positions as you go through from WP1 to WP3. I understand this is not realistic, but it would make it easier to grasp the geometry of your flight. Cheers.

I haven’t used Little NAV map just because I have a NaviGraph subscription for that type of stuff. I’ll get something up for you though.

Also, you get best accuracy by choosing a VORTAC to offset as near to 90 deg as possible...

  • @rlnay
    @rlnay ปีที่แล้ว

"Old timers" method of figuring a reciprocal change:
    For a deg less than 180, add 200 and subtract 20': in this case, 054 + 200 is 254, - 20 is 234 degrees
    If more than 180, subtract 200 and add 20; say recip of 236 would be 236 - 200 = 36, + 20 + 56 deg.

I hope they add KNS-81 to Xbox, Custom waypoints are so nice. Hope they add these Black square updates to xbox.

I’ve always wondered what the experience on Xbox is like. Do you use a yoke? I use my laptop with a mouse and Xbox controller and that works ok.

@@sprocketsimulations its not bad. Xbox can run the game at over 60fps. Up to 100 fps. Series S i get up to 100 fps. If the developers actually try, xbox can look good and play good with all aircraft just like PC. Wont look as good but should be good enough.

@@liquidsnake1123 I tested the Xbox controller on my PC with the Garmin 530 and if you use the cursor control by clicking down on the left joystick and then select the rocket with “A”, you can then rock it up and down with the right stick. When you are done hit “B” and it goes back to cursor mode. Try that, might be the same.

@@sprocketsimulations that works fine. But in the Cessna 182t i cant control the zoom in and out knob on the g1000 avionics screen. Wonder if your xbox controller can do it on pc. Its the right side avionics screen in the c182t by Carenardo.
