Ebay fees and money transfers are a nightmare, so I tried Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace on a camera sale. No fees, but 99% of your inquiries are scammers. The key is no shipping, and cash only and stay patient. Eventually a real customer might break through the scammer noise.
eBay was good 1998 - 2016 after they split with PayPal, started bending over for that EU pp up their butt, everything went very wrong, suddenly you were slapped with 25% VAT, then eBay fees ontop of that then PayPal fees which is another 7% you are looking at over 40% in just fees and taxes, RIP no thanks I rather just fly there myself and pick it up, it be cheaper.

We were so close! It is a magical lens! When you actually use it you will see 1700 was still a steal. Oh well. Have to feel good about the purchase. This setup came with me on my trip throughout Costa Rica and Ireland. Just do it man
So I got bit on Ebay. I sold an expensive lens and then shipped it, but then found out almost right away it was a scam. I put in an intercept with USPS and lo and behold I got the lens back about a month later ... many smiles. I have relisted the lens and am much smarter now!!!!
Wow, I never heard of marketplace facilitator taxes before now...And on used items? What BS! At least you could use them to get out of overpaying. Guess I'm sheltered in sales tax free New Hampshire. Don't worry, they make up for it in property tax, business taxes.........
I am no tax expert, but I was told once that tax was only charged on new items ( like dell laptops, etc) and that used items could not be taxed as they were already taxed upon original purchase. I know this does not work for all things, but I believe now you have to hit a certain total sales in a year to be required to file tax reports.
Hahaha, great story! Going crazy over new gear! I keep myself from going broke buying cameragear only by looking at your videos! Thank you thank you thank you!!😅

There is no duty on most Camara gear, taxes yes but no customs fee should be charged. UPS, FedEx and the like always try and charge you for that stuff but just request to clear customs yourself and you are golden.

Hmmm, Kasey I have that 50-200m and I will be very honest, I forgot I even had it. I purchased it nearly two years ago for three event shoots (those shoots paid off the lens five times over). Right now, the Sigma 18-35 stays on my GH6. It is such an amazing lens. I live in the states, so unless you are willing to deal with custom fees, it will stay in my lens cabinet.
