20 mm, better battery life and cheaper is nice. Stabilization worse, AF not good in product mode…, no ND. I’m happy with my ZV-1 w/ wide angle adapter.
It's a shame that Sony keeps recycling old sensors, optics, features, body design, but intentionally mismatching them on new models that are not meant for the intended purpose.

You forgot the part where Sony calls up Panasonic and asks if they can borrow their AF for their new vlogging camera. Actually, the 20mm is nice. The crop is not that bad but no ND filter and no RAW for photos, only JPEG
Was hoping for the same, Maybe ZV2 still on the horizon since they kept the #1 in the name. Should have just been called the ZV1FU. The rx100 series that started this all was amazing for its time, by 3rd gen it was 24-70 f1.8 with electronic ND, It was a video machine in your pocket. Now we have this nonsense. Really wish they would get serious with it, like a 6 stops of ND, 4k60 and ibis sensor.

I just noticed something weird from a ZV-1F footage by AUXOUT. Soft Skin feature (which you don't like) seems like worse than ZV-1. It changed so fast so it looks discrete, not continuous. Maybe it's because of the new way of processing and it might change later but if it stays the same, it's a huge problem for Soft Skin feature users.
Sony need a small APSC, like the NEX 5T, only add a microphone jack and 4k recording. Sell it with an ultra wide pancake kit, like the 16mm 2.8 but wider.
If they really want to "cater" to the vertical video crowd and still give us what we want. Give us 4:3 anamorphic. Panasonic has it right. Way more crop space. Usable is 16:9 and 9:16.

ZV-1F - the only real advert for the G100. Seriously, it even costs the same in the UK (and the rest of Europe). And Sony's CDAF is just worse. But hey, product showcase mode!

Canon has the Hammer, Panasonic has Pony, whereas Sony has Plastic Finger - it gradually downgrades all good Sony stuff into a heap of cheap plastic. The ZV1 still had some metal in the shoe mount (and possibly the lens protector), the ZV1F looks like the whole chassis was once a 3D printer project of some sort...
You can get a Lumix LX10 with a 24-70mm 1.4-3.5 equivalent lens for the same price as this. It’s an older camera but i love that thing. This has such a niche use case it’s almost useless.
They didn't give the 10bit for the ZV1F, but at least they threw in Slog, which is a pretty big step forward for an entry level, and the video is pretty nice imo. If I had to compare it to another camera, I think the the ZV1F is like a mini Ricoh GRiii. With some tinkering you can create some beautiful looking picture profile recipes by copying Ricoh's recipe app. And the 1F shoots way better video as well. Sony marketed it as a vloggers camera, but it couldn't be worse for vlogging. Instead it's a very capable street photograph camera with video better than competitors at x2 the price.
Until these cameras bridge the gap between capturing and posting on social media they’re pointless. They need giant screen and a current version of android attached or to finally fix wireless transfer to phone.
That's what the apps are made for. I can transfer from my Canon and Sony to my phone and BAM, I've posted to social media. Not everything needs to be on them things anyway.
You have to be careful what you wish for though. If they get to be too much like a phone, then they'll have shitty ergonomics, have an integrated non-removeable battery and lose all physical controls. At that point you just have a huge phone that isn't even enjoyable to take photos with. There will always be a big enough niche market for cameras IMO. The mainstream sheep don't care about real photography anyway.
I’m I odd for having an 80d with many lenses as enough because I use my front facing iPhone camera for all my TikTok content. Like it’s way too much effort to get it from there to destination. I click a couple icons and my shitty video is uploaded from my phone
I think it's all about the price of the camera, it would not be a good business strategy to put better features in cheapest model aimed for vloggers :D

I'm still bummed that I bought a ZV-1 and wish I knew the ZV-10 was gonna happen. My Fuji X-A7 audio sucks! Still it takes great pictures, I prob should sell the 2nd from that 2 for 1 deal. VIXIA > all others!!!
I really liked the ZV-1. Was it perfect? No but what is? It was almost close enough for me. 24mm is not wide enough vor vlogging especially with stabilization.Throw it on a gimbal or selfie stick to place it out further. Problem solved. Is IBS better than digital stability? Absolutely but digital is ok if it saves money. But it causes additional crop. Ok hold it out further, see above. Placement of the 1/4 20 on the ZV-1 is stupid. Agreed. That's the only thing Sony did right on the ZV-1F. Personally I would have liked a longer zoom lens. The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS had 24-960mm optical. Fricken amazing but no mic jack or hot shoe. Good for wildlife shots if you want to do ADR. Sony could have given us something like 18-200mm with all the original ZV-1 features and I would have been very happy. I think most people would. The ZV-1F gets a hard fail in my book. The F in ZV-1F stand for failure.

They change it, but they screw all the rest, by not improve all the good features of the Zv1, such as the HFR, to allow 960 at 1080p, introduce 4k 60, the aperture of the lens, to allow shallower depth of field (the only thing smartphones cannot deliver in video... STILL), and more low light performance, they could change the lens aperture to 2.0 in all the zoom range; in fact they remove these great features...how stupid this is?!?! this is crazy. A zoom lens is essential for vlogging... no optical stabilization?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!? who wanna be stuck with the same focal length of 20mm?!?!? Only if you can change it, with an interchangable lens camera, which the Zv1F is not... I dont' get these sony guys?!?!? Does anyone?!?! supose you are vlogging about ferraris, and a ferrari passes in front of you. you wann shoot the ferrari in close up, but you dont have a zoom lens?!?! What were they thinking, nobody will go for this over a phone, action camera or a slightly more expensive real aps-c camera with interchangeable lenses. Even if they gave it away for free it's one more thing to keep charged and fit in your pockets, and in real world use it adds nothing.
I think this is for those who can't afford the zv1 or zve10. I have both and no this isn't an improvement for me. But the $499 price tag is enough. Zv1 and zve10 is still £6-700 in the uk, new.
