    Sr Anton soy de México y acá hay muy pocos, no sabía como usarlos, sin embargo con su video ya me animé a no deshacerme de él... le voy a sacar el mejor trabajo. Saludos

    Very nice review, and thanks for taking the time and effort. It brings out all of the *goodies* in your voice -- without any EQ. It may seem too bright in your 'phones, but on JBL LSR308s it's just beautiful.

    Wow, thanks for sharing your incredible voice. To use a horrible term, I found the Røde added a bit of 'vibe' to your voice in places. Maybe it's better for singing than voiceover or spoken-word, the proximity effect does make it feel less intelligible. The SV33 clearly seems better suited to you for voice work. As someone who also has a 'resonant' (deep / boomy) voice, I personally am preferring ribbons. They can be great for handling low end frequencies.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, I too like the idea of ribbons and I enjoy the Beyerdynamic M500 and V90r stage ribbons which are cardioid and possibly a touch too bright - both unusual qualities for a ribbon. I would love to see what Earthworks could do with a ribbon.

      @@AntonBrowne Both very nice mics. I love the Voodoo VR-1 - a poor mans RNR1. Very flat response.

    I actually like the Rode quite a bit better than the SV33. I think it notches out some papery/telephone frequencies from the mids, and I think the high end reveals some nice breath/throat/etc sounds that make you sound larger than life. Plus, in my experience (including with flat Earthworks mics) adding high frequency to a flat signal is not quite the same as capturing it. I feel that I can “hear” EQ and in most cases I don’t like it. Great video!

      Hah! I notice I haven't put it up for sale. Rather like the Beyerdynamic M500/V90r ribbon mics, I'm thinking it's useful as a 'character' microphone. It's a bit of an unwieldy beast to use in my limited space and there's the faff of the power supply and wrestling with the python of a cable, but we'll see. I am a bit of a valve/tube man, and I like something about it. I can always reduce the 12k peak, I shall experiment further.
      p.s. Regarding high frequency and EQ, the SV33 goes to 33k and I imagine the small diaphragm will be cleaner in the highs than the Classic's 1" diaphragm which probably struggles a bit with highs. The 12k peak may well be EQ in the electronics (so you're listening to EQ anyway, without realising) - it's certainly not capturing 'more' highs than the 33. However, my guess is that the 33 has EQ in the electronics too, I would guess it's impossible to physically engineer a mic that goes from 30Hz to 33 kHz staying flat all the way. There's got to be some electronic jiggery pokery going down!

    Sounds great with the steep low cut! The Ss seemed to go away towards omni as well. Let me know if you decide to sell

    Thanks, very interesting comparison! The 12k boost could be usefull once you compress vocals in a mix. Regarding the bass boost, which distance did you have from the Rode - sounds to me you were still very well within the proximity region with the Classic II (25mm diaphragm size - compared to only 14mm at the SV33)?

    Hello there!
    What kind of a mixer do you use?

    • @12ealDealOfficial
      @12ealDealOfficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks to be a Mackie mixer. ProFX8 specifically judging by the master faders on the bottom right.

      @@12ealDealOfficial is that mixer good? or Yamaha MG10XU better?

    You might want to try this speaking into the center of the Rode mic. You may get a different result?

    • @AntonBrowne
      @AntonBrowne  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slightly different in the 'sss' region but the same overall shape to the sound.

      @@AntonBrowne That's understandable. It's been a while since I owned that mic. I bought one in the mid 90's when they first came. I thought it was good but it lacked the bite in the higher mid-range. The Neumann M147 is one of the best sounding tube mics for the buck. If you want a great tube sound on a budget, go with a NT2000 with an ART Pro VLA II. You will have more flexibility as well.

    The biggest Problem with a lot of mics even to 2k they are using 67 capsules and mostly not very good ones (actually in classic it is the same one as in the OLD grey NT1 which is not too bad) the circuit is great put a good capsule in ie Maiku K12 of K47 very very good for the money

      At the moment, I'm simply inclined to go for the Earthworks SV33 and cut out the 'sound'. I can always add a 'sound' later if I wish, and so far, I've had no reason to do so.

      Yes, better I think, also easier to use and set up, and can be used handheld with care.

    I was surprised at how bad the Rode sounded.
    The Earthworks was so consistent. Whatever you did, your voice sounded like oak. The Rode seemed all over the place. It was especially weird when you tapped the power source. It's meant to be a very good microphone. I'm not exactly a fan of her music, but if it's good enough for Adele etc. Maybe there was something wrong with the valve.
