There's a pretty big "lore" in Ghost: There's this ancient satanic cult called "The Ministry", which wanted to spread the word of Satan in the most effective way available. In the late 60's/early 70's, since Rock music was on a global hype, they decided to spread the word that way, founding a rock band called Ghost. The lead singer would always have the title of "Papa" (which means pope). The first one was called Papa Nihil (the one we see earning the face paint and the white eye in 'Dance Macabre' video). Following the downfall of Rock, Ghost went in the shadows and was never seen again... until 2010, when the band suddenly reappears, now with a new lead singer: Papa Emeritus I (eldest son of Papa Nihil) releasing the first album (Opus Eponymous). After that, each album has a new frontman. That being said, we had Papa Emeritus II (younger brother of the previous one) in 'Infestissuman' (2013), Papa Emeritus III (youngest of the brothers) in 'Meliora' (2015) and then all 3 were mysteriously murdered, leaving the frontman spot open, but no more Nihil sons to fill in. Because of that, they were forced to, for the first time, use someone out of the bloodline, and, as so, he couldn't be called "papa". So we had Cardinal Copia for the 4th album ('Prequelle', 2018). Papa Nihil dies onstage and now, with the old leader dead, Sister Imperator (the woman we see initiating Nihil in 'Dance Macabre') promoted Cardinal Copia to papa, officially named Papa Emeritus IV and he was the frontman for the 5th and current album, "Impera', from 2022.

Tobias Forge is one of the most unassuming looking guys. Hes got kind of a baby face which is one of the reasons he didn't feel he was right for being the actual front man of the band (he initially just wanted to play guitar with someone else up front) so that's one of the reasons for the mask gimmick. He has short hair which he usually has kinda bed heady spiked or slicked back. And if you've seen any photos or footage of Papa I-IV and Cardinal Copia you can see that he's not very tall and he's very lithe of build. You should just find one of his interviews, really. He's a pretty smart and funny guy. If you ever come across any interviews with a Ghoul, it's most likely him (you learn to recognize his regular not in character speaking voice).

Siiiir Eeees 😃. This song is about the devil telling you that he can see the scars inside you. He feels your pain. And he's there for you when no one else cares. Only problem? Now our merge is eternal... Cirice won the Grammy for best metal 2016. Tobias is with that the only swedish singer to have won a Grammy award. And about the guitar solo. It's Tobias who plays. He plays on all albums except Impera where Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth plays. And you're right. Tobias is an expert on writing guitar solos that "fits the song". Not to little and not too much. Just fits perfectly with the melody. Please check out Watcher In The Sky. Would fit a guitarist 🤘

You’re right it’s a talent show setting and it’s the kids performing the song. Great concept!

I found it! Man Idk what it is but I just recently went through a breakup and this song just hit me in the feels. Now it brings me to tears when I hear “I can feel the thunder breaking in your heart, I can see through the scars inside you”

Great to see another Ghost reaction, and I love seeing others just enjoying all of theatricality of it all. Funny thing is this song actually won them a Grammy. Looking forward to seeing another Ghost reaction in the future. You might check out Rats, Dance Macabre, Hunter's Moon, or Twenties (plenty of others to choose from, too, lol).

Ghost uses the Kettle Drum in a couple of their songs, but its very prominent in this one. This is the first Ghost song I ever heard and it turned me into an instant fan. Their music is what I call Satanic Pop.

Ghost now has as many members as Slipknot lol, so they have more than one keyboardist, and a couple of multi instrumentalists that help with vocal harmonies, (semi)acoustic guitar and tambourines!

Great reaction. This song won a Grammy in 2015, so it was recognized for its brilliance. If you want to learn Ghost on guitar, know that you need to tune down to D-standard for most of their songs. Check out He Is for a straight-faced spoof on worship music. Also check out Rats, Faith, and the new video for Mary on a Cross.

I would like to suggest a reaction to the Ghost song "Kiss the Go-Goat". It has a 1960's "Doors Jim Morrison" vibe to it and the video is great. Thanks!
