I saw them in Montreal and shared tea with them backstage. They are polite and welcoming although not big talkers, you get the message. Their feelings are known in their songs and there is a vibration you feel right away in the few minutes of their playing.

Tinariwen: you are inspiration and medicine to this crazy world we live in.
Your will and determination proved to the world against all odds with minimal resources
to form a band and contribute these great music and songs.
Why need psychiatrist and self-help books to feel good. You are complete medicine in one package.
From your stories one can learn to appreciate everything in life. From you songs and music one can nurture the soul, heart, mind the body. Love you deeply.

m listening to this collection of creative experiences for 12 years now, in tears now, the attention to the sound against the silence of the night, the attuunement of each word, of each voice of the Voice, to soothe every moment, to be the accompany discreet that is always a silent aiding hand, , all the voices, each voice carefully attuned against the silence of the desert, a communal secret passed across generations, sound and vibration, saw you live in Greece with my 2 (thennow have 3 sons) on my shoulders n mum n my mum too all dancing to you.... may you always have health and prosper thank you for hope in hard moments may you all have peace amongst each oherr all races all collectives all sides across the globe...

The drone tone and the emotive combine and dance. All we can do is share the movement in body or spirit. So far removed from our arena culture hype.

They're not arabs. I think they spoke in French here and there, but their native language Tamazight is not related to Arabic.
