Thank KEXP 🙏for introducing the group Tinariwen, this group is a legend of Tuareg music. His style of music is called in desert "guitar", because it is played with electric guitar, it is a mixture of Tuareg music, blue and rock. it tells of the nostalgia of the Tuareg people. The Founder of Tinariwen Ibrahim “Eberybor” remains the leader of this nostalgic music and the inspiring musician for all young musicians. Tinariwen music touches the mind and heals the mood. It's great music and stays that way forever.
We, the people of the Sahara Desert, wish a long life to the great artist, the leader of the tinarwin band, he and his team have always been the only means for the Tuareg people to convey their suffering with the colonies This is the leader and supreme leader of the Tuareg guitar yesterday, today and forever, the victory for the people of Azawad ️ ️ ♥️ ️ ✌️🇩🇿
This band is truly spellbinding- when I hear it I have no choice but stop whatever I’m doing and give my full attention. The songs convey a meaningful glimpse into the Tuareg culture and mindset- may they live long and prosper!
It's really great to see Ibrahim joining the performance on KEXP this time. Sending all the love from south Egypt to Tinariwen and the amazing Tuareg people everywhere.
Don't know how many times I've watched the last Tinariwen KEXP session. This is such a treat! Also, those Uberfrank guitars look+sound incredible! First time seeing these and officially want one
Ibrahim Ag Alhabib is a magical man, this grup unites this man, like "otherside energy'', this feeling in my country java, indonesia like etnic music "'nggandhul" like javanese gamelan, logic, spiritual and feeling embodied control..salute
Formed in 1979 by Ibrahim Ag Alhabib, a Malian refugee, Tinariwen coalesced in the early '80s in the Libyan rebel camps of Colonel Gaddafi... Their music addresses issues such as political awakening, problems of exile, repression of their people, and demands of sovereignty. 8:08 [AllMusic]
@@Gurci28 I do not understand the words but I can feel their strife through the music. Sometimes I think about how this beautiful music comes from a group of people who are often characterized as armed rebels from the media who report on the Sahel region.
@alexclark4968 Oh wow, it's almost like they have a distinct sound.. wild concept.. rather than complaining maybe go find something to make you less miserable
Chill AF. Still chill after all these years. I find the bass player to be the coolest bassist since John Entwistle. So laid back and in the groove. The drummer and his drum. More than enough kit in it for this music. Complex and from ONE drum. Take that Neil Peart (RIP). The tiny little guitar bits are so juicy. Irresistible. Dance, baby, dance. I really like the way the vocals are split and combined even within the same verse? Chorus? IDK it just flows in and out.
Tinariwen surprises us as always with their amazing songs and voices that has always a meaningful message to deliver to their audiences. Love you Tinariwen ❤
Just discovered Tinariwen not too long ago.. I fell asleep to some youtube video. This music came on while I was sleeping, and remember having a really pleasant dream grooving to this. Fortunately, I woke up while a Tinarwen song was playing and rushed to see who it was. I bought the Elwan CD which is incredible, and will be ordering this new one as well.
Tinariwen, Mdou Moctar, Bombino, Etran de L’air, Les Filles de Illighadad, Kader Tarhanine, the music of the Sahara is the gift that keeps on giving.
Imarhan et Tamikrest aussi
Thanks for the list! Off to listen to other desert rock bands too
Terakaft are another must-listen!
Bombino is king!
I'd add Kel Assouf to the list !

We have been hearing this type of singing since childhood in Algeria, and we did not appreciate it until it became known in world
Tinariwen is the bomb. Going to see them in Montreal in July. Smallish venue. It's Going to be epic.
Hello! If you don't mind me asking- how was it? I plan to go in June as they are performing in Sydney.
They were absolutely incredible. They had the most beautiful, heartfelt, desert vibe. They really felt otherworldly to ser live.

The rhythmic intro at 5:40 is so pleasing to my drummer ears. This band is tight!

When I listen to the rhythms I imagine camels treading thruogh the desert. I love Tinariwen.
