There's a 4th point - surface agitation. I inject bps in a 60cm tank because I have cooling fans blasting the water surface, and that creates a lot of surface agitation that is off-gassing co2.

When should I add ADA Bottom Plus to ADA AquaSoil vol1? My tank is heavily planted with red stemmed plants and root feeding plants like crypts. Now it 3.5 month old and plants still look fine.

Make sure CO2 is turned on 3 hours prior to lights turning off and 3 hours prior to lights turning off. This helps ensure ~30ppm of CO2 dissolved for photosynthesis. This allows the CO2 to reach 30ppm prior to the lights turning on and commence photosynthesis. 8 hours a day is perfectly fine, just make sure you dose the appropriate liquid fertilizers while the light is on.
