Stunning Horse! I hate what horseracing does to these,amazing Animals. I can no longer watch the races after seeing far too many die on the tracks. Most HUMANS are capable of such cruelty over money. I pray he lives and all the others. I adopted a thoroughbred after his last Belmont Race. He was so severely abused no one could get near him but me. My riding school said they would have to put him down if I did not adopt him due to his abuse. I took him off the bit, No more shoes, No more stalls, No more racetracks, no whips, and no more living without another horse. I thank God for Dentara.

Yes, he reminds me of Secretariat, tho Secretariat reminds me of MOW, Affirmed...way lots of Secretariat. We do love our Secretariat and just anything reminiscent of that gorgeous boy. Justify is gorgeous and so large and he does have some mystique to him.

Justify does *not* have Secretariat on the bottom (maternal) side of his pedigree. I checked pedigree.com: Secretariat is absent in the pedigree of Shot in the Dark, Justify's dam, although Bold Ruler does appear in her lines, through a different Bold Ruler son, Cornish Prince. Secretariat does appear in the pedigree of Justify's sire, Judpot. Justify is inbred 4x3 to Northern Dancer, with that sire appearing in the pedigrees of both Shot in the Dark and Judpot.

This colt is a real chiseled specimen of a horse to look at, and mega-talented. I think the ability to win the Triple Crown is absolutely there for Justify, but I think the race tactics going 12f at "Big Sandy" have to have be tinkered with a bit. Which is to say, I don't see this colt getting home first in the Belmont Stakes if Mike Smith allows him to get locked up in another protracted speed duel on the front end like he did in the Preakness. The cavalry was definitely coming at the end of that race, so imagine his trying have held off the late closer's at Pimlico for another full 1-1/2 furlongs. I have a hunch that 12f might actually be stretching Justify just a bit, but he's so physically sound that I believe he can get the trip given the right ride, and he's most certainly got one of the best in the business aboard to help in Mike Smith.
Strong Derby....managed to hold on in the Preakness...dont see him winning the Belmont...i think all his races in such a short time span...especially after not racing at 2...are catching up with him.

Rough? Looked to me like they handled him like any other horse which reflects favorably on a very professional operation--especially one that's being filmed. Just another day in the barn, getting the horse back in the flow of his normal routines. Really is a nice looking horse, but then again, all of them look nice to me. But what a calm horse. I'm sure they're focused on keeping him that way.
I knew that they weren't actually being rough -- I just figured that angels from heaven would come down to bathe him. And he really is calm. Bob Baffert said that anyone who wants to visit Justify is invited to do so, thereby socializing him. He's apparently very friendly and loves people and other animals. I just love him.

awuma he is well behaved because of that chain. He is a three year old stallion and without that chain he could drag that groom clear across the grounds. It's better than a lip chain to control him. It's not just TBs, lip chains are used on a lot of Quarter Horse show horses and stallions for sure.
That chain is there for his own safety. I handled many race horses on the track, and believe me, you do not want one running loose and hurting himself. Besides, a chain is only as rough as his handler makes it. Which this handler seems to be quite gentle.
Josef Copernicus you maybe a horse trainer, but have you ever handled race horses? Whole different world in internal and physical conditioning. Most disciplines do not have to have their horses blood count up to 15-17 so that they can have the stamina to perform.
Josef Copernicus and I agree with many of your points. The race horse industry can be a little house of horrors. Only a few get the treatment of the derby horses. It's very sad. I left the track because it was heart breaking in so many ways

And two and three year olds are still just babies. I feel so sorry for them. It's a rough life and not near as glamorous as people think on the backside.

Josef Copernicus hey, you don't know anything. The horse in the photo was my stallion and he was in Indiana at the time. I had nothing to do with that photo. He is now a gelding and he and my other two horses are turned out 24/7. Also there are horse shampoos that don't strip the oil from their coats. I've owned horses for 60 years and you should be treated so well. I resent that you throw critical statement around when you know nothing. I'd like to see you handle a 1200 lb stallion during breeding season without a chain.
Josef Copernicus and another thing he was only ridden in a snaffle bit and was shown in halter but also several other classes including cattle classes. He is a terrific all around horse and I would never allow him to be ridden or shown at those awful gaits now being shown at the QH shows. I'll be waiting for your apology.

He's the first Storm Cat line horse to win at a mile and a quarter, a mile and a half is questionable. If he tries to set a false pace the field will keep up to him easily. They way they caught him in the Preakness suggests to me that he might be regressing.

After seeing how the others caught him, I don’t think he has it in him to win the longest jewel of the triple crown. Should be fun to watch!

He's the first Storm Cat line horse to win at a mile and a quarter, a mile and a half is questionable. If he tries to set a false pace the field will keep up to him easily. They way they caught him in the Preakness suggests to me that he might be regressing.
