Captain Lee, Kate, and Ashton reunite as a team and embark on an exciting new season in Thailand on mega yacht “Valor.” After his brush with death last season and promotion to bosun, Ashton’s work hard, play harder persona is at an all-time high. While his leadership on deck holds strong, Ashton struggles below deck to keep his emotions in check after the crew gets an unexpected surprise that rocks Ashton to his core. Chef Kevin’s high standards and strict rules for the kitchen and service clash with Kate’s stew style, leading to fiery confrontations in the galley. Simone’s service skills definitely need improving however Kate communication skills as a manager need improving as well.
Point taken but please consider her position. Time is something she doesn't have. It's about the guest from the moment they board untill they disembark. It all effects thier tip. Kate knows her job, she knows who is worth training and who is not. I believe Kate is a top professional at her chosen career. She simply tells it like it is, she's direct honest and to the point. You can't please everyone. Some need it sugar coated others need thier hand held, some need to hug it out.
Do you see Capt Lee hand holding the deck crew, no! In fact he chews bosun's up and spits them out.
Kate don't do that unless you pushed her to it or deserve it. My point is it's ok for Capt Lee but not Kate.
My guess is, when put Into Kate's position, under the pressure she's under, my bet is you would respond to a crew member the same as Kate. There's no time for a heart to heart over afternoon tea. It's not a training yuacht nor is Kate paid to be a trainer. Like the deck crew, the Stu's need to be top shelf or hand them a plane ticket.
These guests are demanding with zero tolerance. There spending a ton of money for top shelf voyage. Kate can't put her on service end of story.
I'd like a season with the perfect deck and service crews. That won't happen. You loose the drama the show goes away.
Take a moment and think that one over. They purposely use bimbos, it creates drama. No drama no show.
It's a secret, they pay Kate to be abrupt. Like it or not. Sorry if I burst your bubble.

@@davidgeorge000 but the thing is, captain Lee and Kate are not of equal rank. of course, captain Lee can be harsh and abrupt because he outranks everyone else. A better comparison would be Kate and Ashton who's the bosun, and if you're comparing those two, Ashton is an example of what a leader should be. He's firm but fair. In the beginning of the season that girl Abby was really green and still trying to find her legs, but he guided her and encouraged her, and did the best he could to make her feel a part of the team, even when she messed up. If you notice, whenever Kate is dissatisfied with Simone's work, she won't tell her. She'll talk about it in her confessional or laugh about it with the other girl. There's nothing wrong with 'telling it like it is' but damn, at least be straight with the person the FIRST time. If she was seeing that Simone wasn't progressing, why not say something beforehand? Ashton literally always takes time to talk to the crew and make sure they're alright for the good of the team, Kate literally never does that. Yes she's a chief stew, but when you're in a position of power, people are going to look to you for guidance, no matter what.

How dare you tell Simone she makes the department look bad when she talked about her frustration with the other crew members when you do the exact same thing and say worse as there MANAGER . How disrespectful and unprofessional can your manager be to talk shit about the supervisor to the employees. I see why her and Courtney get along all they do is talk about everyone because there life is no better. Misery loves company.
She is just a horrible person. She is bitter and mean.
Simone has been in the industry longer than Courtney but she also said that know one has ever trained her on service. If the only experience she has is cleaning, making beds, and ironing of course those will be her specialties. I love Kate but a true leader would train and help develop their team instead of just talking shit about how bad she is SHOW HER WHAT TO DO!
Exactly, she will never get better if her supervisor doesn't give her the training and guidance she needs.
If Simone came on board stating that she had a ton of experience and can’t even open wine or make a simple iced coffee, Kate really doesn’t have the time to train her from scratch while providing 5 star service.

Simone is LOVELY! And apparently quite intelligent, as well as personable! There was a lot to work with there... I hope she found her spot in yachting--IF she wished to continue in the field....
I think Simone needs to work in a restaurant for about 6 months and learn how to serve food and drinks. She didn't even know how to make an iced coffee.
I hate to say it but Simone should have known the basics I don't think race played a part in this situation..Simone should know better..

Completely agree. Even if you don’t know exactly how to make an iced coffee, we’ve all ordered an iced coffee. she should at least know that you don’t put it in a blender.
Kate work with another second Stewart named Kat, all she did was complain and didn't know how to do anything let alone make iced coffee and she was an alcoholic.. Simone is a beautiful young lady with a PhD and everybody's jumping on her because she don't know how to make iced coffee or open a bottle of wine hell I don't know how to open a bottle of wine either because I don't drink

The boat is not for entry level training. The service level is to be 5 star. If they spent the same effort in learning and honing their skills they would get respect. They incessantly whine about how hard it is and avoid as much as they can but dive across the table to get that tip. It's a well paying hard job. Leave your fragile feelings in your bunk and earn your keep.

When Kate showed her she argued every step, Kate sent her up to take care of guests, she walked through and said nothing to the guests. Again, not an entry level job. Now Kate is doing two jobs. And Simone is taking more time from Kate to tell her hurt feelings. Kate has to either take care of guests or spoon feed Simone. Guess what? This is not kindergarten to raise stews. It's a five star boat.

J B also, some wine bottles require special equipment to remove them and some come off just using bare hands. They only showed of one time she couldn’t open a bottle of wine. TV shows will make you believe anything.
The first day before the very first charter started. Ms. Kate told Simone she was to function as Second crew. That's on Kate because she obviously wasn't aware or didn't really care where Simone was placed. No matter for her. S he'll use you in what ever manner no matter the position.

It was totally disgusting the way Kate abused her seniority by a mistreating Simone the way she did. So karma stepped in and the guys ensured that Kate had her worst nightmare cruise ever in season 7. And now she finally decided to end her career on sea and go land based rather. Good riddance to bad rubbish, the gods have listened to our requests lolol

Okay Simone has the right to voice her feelings and opinions to Kate. I agree with Kate , that if Simone had a problem or is confused or feels mistreated she needs to speak to Kate. Simone admits shes not good at service but she's good at all the other steward responsibilities. And the other steward is good at service but not everything else. Simone's gotta suck it up and do her best. She didn't disrespect Kate in anyway she was having a mature calm and upsetting conversation with Kate. So hopefully they work that out and Simone learns how to correctly to do service and stays focus but motivated. Now that one steward girl didn't give a peck on the lips to Ryan or Bryan. Simone probably got butterfly's in that moment after kissing drunk Tanner. Tanner throwing up in the bathroom sounded disgusting. Don't drink if you can't handle your amounts you swallow. And Rhylee is right. She came for a fresh start and got disrespected. Kevin is obnoxious and annoying. Kevin is cocky. That cocky and controlling behavior he has sober and in the chiefs kitchen is very irritating. And his drunken behavior is laughable. This dude has no idea or clue how obnoxious 💀 he sounds and looks.

Cloe Oliver it’s not Simone’s fault that she’s not good at service and she can’t “suck it up and do her best.” The entire point of it was that Kate never gave her the chance to do service. She can’t do service when she’s being ordered to stay away from the guests and do Laundry. Also, Rhylee has a very toxic attitude and everyone blamed Ashton for being so harsh right away. However, Ashton was very positive and talked to Rhylee before any problems started and apologized after any did happen. Ashton had that previous negative experience with Rhylee but even the other deck members and some of the rest of the crew felt Rhylee’s toxicity. She has a horrible attitude.
The things a second stew should know she has no clue on. She wants rank and to be trained the basics. Kate isn't in the wrong here. If Simone was a 3rd stew then I'd find Kate unreasonable for not trying a lil harder.

Honeya Fun no! No no no! Second stews and third stews get paid the same amount. It is not the job of the second stew to train the third stew. The chief stew is completely responsible for the training and she failed to do that. She was also responsible for positioning her stews before everyone was even on the boat. Courtney complained about doing laundry every episode so Kate made Simone do laundry and didn’t give her a chance with service.

I dont get why there is not a checklist with duties assigned to each stew.?!?!? yes its always different and "catered to each guest" but they still have 1000 housekeeping tasks to do evry single day yet its always "i didnt get such and such done bc i didnt know i had to do it " or "i was _____ with a guest". their job is alot like my job in dentistry; patients are top priority and while we are w/ pt cant get any of the 10000 done but we cover for each other! we do EVERYTHING and have to remember everything for the DR; set up/flipping rooms, what he needs for instruments, laundry, all medical office duties except apt reminders and insurance,but when one of us is stuck with the dr we cover for each other!! yes its my job but if im stuck making retainers in the lab and my next pt gets there early the other girls jump in and set up my room ! i do the same for them hwne they are busy, youre all in the same boat! why does it have to be "i had to do your job and im gonna ream you for it," instead of "ok shes not gonna have time to do that so ill take care of it "

I totally dislike Kate, every since she ran up to the Captain complaining about Chef Kevin.
She was the one still in bed while Kevin and Simone was trying to keep the charter guest satisfied. (I didn't hear her tell the Captain, she was piled up in bed)!.
And the small misunderstanding that Kevin and Simone had was most likely both feeling overwhelmed AND Kevin DID apologize which I believe was sincere.

Couldn't agree more. I'm amazed at the kids they hire who are so inexperienced they actually believe they do the same job as chief stew. The living situation breeds the presumption they have a right to criticize everything. Kate needs to make it clear day one it's a job. It isn't your boat, the owner hired Capt. Lee to run it and Kate to manage the interior. They have a way they want the boat run. When the 2nd and 3rd stew develop the chief stew skills then they can get that job. First and foremost, it's a business. If friendships develop fine.
I like Simone a lot I really do and she just needs a little bit more help and I'm that type of person I know where she's coming from because I need a little bit more help when it comes to things like this for instance and I feel that cake doesn't have good patient skills and I think that giving Courtney that seconds to position was very unprofessional disrespectful in front of Simone but I'm proud of Simone for keeping her head up and not getting an attitude but I like Kate a lot I really did but this season I really do not like Kate

I'm talking about the initial hiring process. Do they check resumes. Or do they choose to hire people that require training. Like someone is always complaining about have to train someone. So if you hire an inexperienced person one accepts that they need to train them & be patient. Everybody has to learn somewhere. But you would think on these mega yachts they would have top notch crew. Maybe there is not a lot of crew in this field to hire from so your always training.

I've often wondered who does the hiring. If it were my $20 million boat I would be a lot more careful who I'm putting to work on it. It has to be coming from outside. Kate and Captain Lee would never hire most of those people. At the very least the kids need to know up front it's a business. The job is give guests 5 star luxury service. Your guests feelings matter, yours don't. You are getting paid well. If friendships form, fine. You want respect? Earn it.
Kate was very patient with her in the beginning however she was made second stew because she said she had the experience- which was definitely not true! She did not even know how to cut a lemon! I don’t care for Courtney, but you have to admit she knows how to be a stew on a yacht. It is a fast moving process and Simone stops everybody she can ask them how to do things. Kate doesn’t have time to handhold somebody that said that they were experienced, so after a while she lost her patience and I don’t blame her. The Stews have several people to cater to on a fast and constant basis, so she put Courtney on as temporary 2nd stew because she is fast and KNOWS the job. But for people to respond making it a black and white thing is ridiculous, And frankly tiresome.

Brittany Andria First of all Can’t cut a lemon, Doesn’t know how to make drinks, doesn’t know how to talk to people and has her feelings hurt way too easy. And in the second place-Let’s not forget that she said she had yachting experience. And third- Kate was trying to be patient, but when you have a yacht that has people on it and expecting first class service, Kate doesn’t have time to handhold Simone.
I like Simone but she sucks at service, every waitress job I have had, you jump in & sink or swim. You watch what is happening around you & imitate that. It is ok to ask for help but she gets frazzled easily & gets defensive when Kate or Courtney was trying to teach her. I thought Kate was more patient with Simone because she is black & Humble. But then when the humility wore off Kate was fed up. Kate is bitchy & sarcastic, she always has been & she was very tolerant with Simone in the beginning but when Kate was getting burned out & Simone was getting too comfortable Kate lost her patience, I understand.
Plenty of women lied on their resume on this show but they making a real big deal because it's Simone a black woman I never seen this many comments on the other women that didn't have experience and was a lot worse than Simone I normally don't talk like this but this is ridiculous

Kate went from being my favorite person of Below Deck to my most disliked one after this episode! The way she treated Simone was just ridiculous and disrespectful! She herself was always talking crap about everyone else and Simone made interior look bad? I think narcissistic people like Kate like to humiliate others to feel better about themselves. Her position as the alpha female went to her head and she totally screwed up. She was fine badmouthing the rest of the crew but she tolerated no criticism directed to her, then she would immediately go into vindictive overdrive, torturing everyone with her passive agressiveness. Glad she's gone........

Simone is NOT ready for service!!! When she had the chance she didn’t even ask the guests if they wanted anything she stood there like a statue. Team Kate all the way!! I worked in service for years and trust me Simone does not have what it takes to be a server.
