Hello, INTJ female here. I want to share my take on having dominant Ni.
For me, Ni is something very natural, just like breathing. It's not necessarily thinking that everything is intercorrelated, not at all actually. It's more like we always try to find the meaning between the lines. We decipher events, memories, impressions, news, concepts, words, etc., store them as puzzle pieces in our memory. When we contemplate on something, we use those pieces for reference to find connection between them to see the big picture.
The nature of Ni is to find ONE big picture to connect the puzzle pieces. So Ni will analyze n connect those puzzle pieces, decipher them, discards inconsistent or unrelated puzzle pieces, then finally put all the pieces together to form that big picture. This is very different from Ne that will take those puzzle pieces, seeing how it might interrelated with many many other puzzle pieces so it might creates many many new possibilities. In short, Ni focus on conclusion (ONE big picture) while Ne focus on MANY possiblities.
I guess the mysterious part about Ni is how our brain can detect the interrelations between those puzzle pieces that might seems very random for others. Ni dom are great at recognizing patterns, as long as the database is (subjectively) good n plenty enough. For Ni dom people, recognizing, contemplating and analyzing patterns is a natural process. Like when I see someone do sth, I'll recall the infos n behaviour pattern of that person to find out what's the real meaning of him/her doing sth. Because more often than not, there are more things than what people do or say on the surface. And these are the same with events, news, n every part of our life.
Ni dom people always tries to understand the truth behind something. That's why we tend to overthink things.
Ni dom usually identic with "gut feelings" n I've read many INFJs n INTJs had that experience many times in their life. However, for me personally, I never had the experience of gut feelings (intuition). FYI, gut feeling is when someone can't give the reason why he/she knows something will happen.
In my case, I always know why I think something will happen, why I come to any kind of prediction, conclusion, etc. because I always have the clear sequence of the process n puzzle pieces that I use, even with the timeline too.
And tbh, not all my guess n predictions always right, especially if it's related to a human behavior because human can go out of pattern.
INTJ here, I think the "gut feeling" is a term we use when the reasoning behind it is so far from accepted norms of thinking that we just don't want to tell other people why we really think in a certain way and instead just describe it as "gut feeling" to avoid controversies. Also, info can be stored in many different forms depending on which part of the brain it's stored in. Sometimes we can see the connection but the info we're connecting may not necessarily be available to the linguistical parts of our brain and it may take some time for us to figure out how to formulate it linguistically to share our insights with other people in a way that they can understand
@@BookofYAH777 INFJ here, EXACTLY!
Thank you, as a true Ni user, this was fabulous and I deeply resonate with your take on Ni.
I don't understand why Ni is so mystified by others.
But I suppose if you are not dominate in it, it can seem foreign...I'd also dare to say that almost 70 percent of people are mistyped, causing further misinformation on all the cognitive functions.
The dominant function, no matter what it is, should always feel natural and not as apparent to the user... judging dominant functions will appear easier to others outside of the user, but perceiving dominant functions may be harder to differentiate.... I guess that would be the reason to Ni mystification.
I just answered my own question haha.
I also agree with your note on "gut feeling" I would say that, that may be more correlated to an Fi function, which you have in tertiary) ..gut feeling Fi may come outwards sometimes, but your Ni would kick in and give you substantial reasoning as to why "so and so" is happening. -
however, sometimes it's hard for Ni users to fully say what they're seeing/thinking/understanding, because there are too many components, ....we also prefer to speak in a linear fashion towards a conclusion, this contradicts the intense amount of information one would know
This will cause an Ni user to not always state what they're seeing as the truth, which could also create more mysticism and why the Ni correlates to the archetype of "the seer"
That rapid dart away from ESTP being attracted to InxJ was harious 😂
ALSO THIS CONCEPT OF BREAKING DOWN THE FUNCTION PLACEMENTS IS AMAZING
can someone explain why this is?
A lot of ISxJs are known for accurately predicting future events. When you ask them how they did it, they'll point out many sings and patterns in the past that have lead to the exact same thing.
Stevester I think this also has to do with them wanting to know the unknown.
@@helenvarel4426 They're usually worried about *everything* that *could* go wrong the entire time, so I hope they are at least sometimes correct.
Cause they’re scared of it so
Adam Augustus is that a question
That’s because we remember the details of cause and effect. We learn from mistakes or rewards. It’s a concrete way to predict the future and we tend to go into detail about how it’s going to unfold. I think with INxJ, they’ll more likely speak on vague terms but expand on it as a Calypso mentioned. The whole thing with Ni seeing different things as interconnected (a pattern rather than a sequence of events). Same result, different method.
now I’m very much convinced I use Ni at the dominant position thank you
@@adamagustus1316 she didn't say she is perfect 🤣
Amir Abdin thanks
or maybe Adam is referring to the fact
that I may hav doubted that I use introverted intuition bcos of some incidents
but bcos no one is perfect,
we can excuse the error that it makes sometimes,
instead of doubting its existence entirely
Congratulations
Now I'm more convinced I'm not INTJ
Wowww...so on point about ESTJs. They're very literal and going deep on one subject is pretty much impossible. I leave the conversation feeling dissatisfied, being an Ni dom. I mostly get random Si details thrown at me, then once they run out...on to the next subject =(. I'm really in awe by how many unrelated topics can be covered in 5 minutes, that's if I'm not sucked into a 10 minute story. It's not right or wrong, just different
Q Ward can you provide an example of one conversation with an ESTJ or SJ? What was the topic? What did you say? What did they say? How did you go deep into it while they threw random details? I am interested in a more detailed account of the idea you’re touching upon.
@@MissRainaRose
Me: Man...I really loved that song. It was so deep. The lyrics really touched me...about life and dreams unrealized...
ESTJ: Yea the guitarist's picking style reminds me of "some random person that I don't know". Oh wait, I think that they wrote that song in 1989. Proceeds to pull out phone to Google it. Oh 1987, I was close! Hey that reminds me, in 1987 I played in this soccer game....and on it goes for 10 minutes...maybe switching subjects or perhaps about every person on his soccer team.
Me: "Thinking" But wait...what about this song!
Lol yep...something like that.
Interestingly enough my wife is an ISTJ. She will just get up and leave the room to wash dishes while I'm talking lol. Fml
Agree. I'm INTJ and am very close to my ESTJ dad. Here are 2 examples:
- We're both into history, specifically the history of our city. I tend to find patterns and think a lot about what each thing means and what role it plays in the grand scheme of things while he's basically Wikipedia. For example, I'll go on about what the very eclectic architecture tells about how open we are to outside influences, or whether the city planning development over the last century is influenced by or influenced certain common behavioral quirks (chicken and egg much?). And dad goes: Aha. This building here was built in X year and the architect was Z who also designed those two buildings over there, all while Y politician was in power at the time.
- We relate the most over Te. However while my Te is all about efficiency in executing a specific vision/goal, his is Te for Te's sake. It's like I only bother to organize the chaos when it serves my goals while he's always looking for a chaos to organize.
OH MY GOD. This is exactly what I feel. I’m INFP but I have the same issue. I’ve been left with that dissatisfied feeling after my conversations with strong Si users. But you just explained why so eloquently and hit it right on the nail!
That is exactly me with my ESFJ friend, it can be so frustrating but now I understand why 😅
Wow, you really nailed this! You described me (INTJ), my Mom (INFJ), my Dad (ENTJ), my brother (ISTP), my step-parents (ESTP and ESFJ) and step-sister (ESFP) and my girlfriend (INFP) and all the other people I thought of (ENFJ and ESFJ and ENTP bosses and ESTJ ex) precisely. Great explanation!! As an INTJ, I've always been especially annoyed with my ESFJ relationships for not being able to "go there" with me when I start delving into a topic. You are so right how they just move tangentially or give a bunch of examples, LOL. It's pretty unsatisfactory for me but then again I appreciate that they are trying to relate to me. My ESTJ ex-girlfriend actually did it quite smoothly by making a joke which always made me laugh so that worked well for us. The ESFJs are the hardest for me.
Ni or intuition is not about time or linear time, though. Intuition doesn't know time(or space), it just supplies you with an answer.
Good insight!
The Great Eye (of introverted intuition), high in the sky, lidless, wreathed in flame, ALWAYS watching.
Situated outside time and space, the Great Eye ... sees ... ALL.
What was ... what is ... and what will be.
@Sasha S. Am I full of cobwebs inside?
Cause and effect implies time constraints.
Agreed. All the pieces that you deem relevant are collected and stored in there to give you your perception/assumptions, but you can't put it down to "INTJ's and INFJ's connect the dots between events." It's not as conscious or aware as that statement makes it out to be.
You got it right at the 8 slot Ni users. While ISJs seem the academic, intelligent and specific, INJs are different to those stereotypes that are thrown to them.
Also when it comes to Si for INJs things seems sort of strange, like having a strong memory in specific times that people (or the person themselves) would think you’re an ISJ, I think this’s because of Se, or masculine Se when it comes to Dave Super Power terms.
4:25 yes! I as an ISFP, have tought for over a year that i was an INFJ (for 2 months), and INFP (8-10 months), until I stumbled upon some video which was comparing INFPs to ISFPs and i recognised more of myself in ISFP descriptions..
This was the best description of Ni that I have heard to date. Although I think ni doms. also watch peoples patterns play out in real time. But it's like they block out heaps of visual stimuli to just notice patterns emerging. It's weird and hard to explain. I'm an ENFJ. I experienced this while I was stoned. I guess it might be Ni. I asked my Ni dominant friends if they do this. They said yes. One of them said, "doesn't everybody do that?" I don't smoke weed anymore or condone it haha
I get so confused about Ni and how it is being used in PDB pages, but Calypso just clarified it all. I didn't expect that it was that simple to define. Because there are many confusing definitions of Ni to the point that there are many who believe themselves to be Ni dom. They think that Ni function is a God function.
Great job girly🤩💐👌
This was amazing, loved it 💗
I remember watching this series of videos provably a year ago or so, when my knowledge on cognitive functions was almost zero, and not taking much of value from them, now that I understand them more I get a lot from them. Amazing videos!
INTJ here. Just heard your first sentence, about how hard it is to explain introverted intuition. Hope this helps: We all have memorized the alphabet, thru repetition and use. It now becomes a kind of pattern. Since we know where it will end, why start at "A" and stop at every letter along the way? Go straight from "A" to "Z" ; it's more efficient and saves energy and time.
Hello, INFP Calypso and INFP Coffee Talk, you look pensive in your soft black tunic. I like the canvases behind you.
They remind me of the art of Rob Gonsalves who is a painter of magic realism. I can imagine floating on a raft while
looking up at the moon, in the picture on your left of the lake in the mountains at night.
Last year when I discovered personality typing, I finally understood the difference in how I think versus almost everyone else.
Ni is not woohoo voodoo but pattern recognition. When I look at something, I see the past, the present and the future in one idea, object or person. I have vast amounts of information like the ISTJ, I literally read encyclopedias as a child but
we did not have computers. You read what was available and my grandfather had a remarkable library. I had a vivid
imagination.
People who use their five senses are grounded in the here and now. I am not. I find it exhausting to stay in the present where
it is often loud or crowded and the conversation is not interesting or informative. People almost always are when we can
pick and choose our characters from books or online. Pause them, change the channel...life in Flatland is quite pleasant.
When I first found MBTI typing and fell down that rabbit hole, I tried to explain Ni to my Brother-in-law. I was armed
with my clipboard of notes and a visual of tomato and using the mean ratio and golden spiral, I attempted to explain
what happens when I look at a tomato...they are now looking into lovely places where everyone wears white and
we make birdhouses, and maybe Jack will be there when the cuckoo clock chimes...kidding now and that is a movie reference
to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...which may also explain Ne and Ni, but probably Ni.
Anderson Cooper experienced Schizophrenia in a stimulator. I think our Ni is a bit like that but controlled. I can grab information
and I see visuals when people speak unless they say a new word and then the word literally appears so I can see how it is
spelled. In one sentence, twenty different options can offer themselves and I must take this new information inside to process it and apply this to what we value, need and want. Risk and Reward or then assessed.
I can go on and on and probably will litter my thoughts all over our community channels because I simply had no idea that everyone didn't think like this.
Now I understand better why someone who is not grounded in the here and now will not notice smells or whether my food is hot or cold or whether I should eat and why everyone else thinks Ferrets smell bad and I think they smell smart and kind.
Thanks, again. You are a terrific creator of content and one of my favorite TH-camrs who I found originally and shaped
my perceptions of what the personality typing community is all about.
@@Iweighmorewithoutclothes-wz1ph Good Evening j'huuki whose name does not translate. I hope you are at your healthiest this evening.
Synesthesia, yes I have considered this. I will look into this a bit more. I also am considering that I may have a slight touch of Aspbergers. I simply had no idea that everyone does not think as I do. Or smelled bacon during
a Burger King commercial. IN your case, I now imagine you in a bus station in Los Angeles waiting to go somewhere interesting. I don't know why La comes to mind but the song certainly does.
Today, I listened to NT Support and Kyle described Ni as a Spark of Sudden Impressions.
That may be the best way to describe my normal sensory and information processing methods and 'visuals'.
I have also watched a video on String Theory recently and my inner mind is a bit like that. Attempting to
process numerous visuals, memories etc...while still pretending to pay attention to someone speak. (sigh)
th-cam.com/video/eGxPGgPdTVw/w-d-xo.html
String Theory and Quantum mechanics me but this is a very good video for how I receive impressions when someone speaks to me and creates my "visuals".
If I do not recognize a word then it "appears" or is imagined in my head as a "word".
I may see the word and letters visually but that might be because I took typing and shorthand years ago. I used
that technique to listen to our business teacher guide the class in techniques by speaking out loud.
Processing only auditory information is a bit difficult. I do not learn well with a teacher standing in front of me
and talking to me.
I need multiple sources of information and use multiple ways to learn. Have you taken the Yale Vark Test
to determine your learning style? Learning is fascinating now that I know what works best for me.
Thank you for replying and understanding. That means quite a lot to me and yes, I do infer your meaning.
Now how do we make everyone else understand?
@@Iweighmorewithoutclothes-wz1ph I see. J'huuki who means Jedi now to me. The last time I was in the UK, I went to NewMarket to see
the Queen's horses pass by. We were a bit late to the party and I am sure 'Herself' was disappointed, lol.
You are a musician? Are you also an ENTP? It appears to me that the musicians amongst us who are creatives
must be the ENTP's. Have you listened to HostEric Talking with Famous People? his Agave WeatherMan song is
terrific and so is his 'front porch of wisdom'.
My opinions of the Collective Conscious and Unconcious are the I think of this as Nature versus Nurture and
I was just listening to Michael Pierce to explain this. I recently found David Lynch and I am experimenting
with Meditation. Once it was very Hippie Dippie in the airports, now it makes sense.
th-cam.com/video/6WCKLg4oUrQ/w-d-xo.html
Yes, I do think you should take the Yale Vark test. It is online and free. Once I learned how to learn and didn't have
to hang out in book stores and libraries despite my own voluminous library and once I found out that I
process information very differently than most, I have begun to learn much faster.
Its been a bit like being blind and all of my teachers can see but they can not see that I learn differently
and they insisted that I learn by reading the chalkboard or whiteboard in front of me. Make sense?
I hope your plans for today include some fun. Stay away from LA though, it is busy lately around here and
the storms are brewing says she sadly but with hope, our collective consciousness will also begin to think and
not feel like team sports are a good sporting event.
Who is your favorite musician? What do you play? And if you are on Reddit and in the MBTI RadioStation then
please tell my young friend Harold, his Maude says Hello.
Ni sounds like a judging function to me, it's highly impressive, as if these people had two brains 😲
@Sasha S. I see. But there must be cases where your negative predictions are proven wrong. Isn't that comforting in a way to know that reality is better than your expectations?
@@ismahenelarbi7386 Ni .is like seeing a world that is connected to the real world. it feels like we live in unseen world by the majority. and that World can be true or just imaginary based on the knowledge u put in ur Ni
Your explanations are breathtaking. Thank you!
"Their Se is a parent"
I don't think that was intentional, but well played.
"Connecting everything to everything..." ... Is there any other way?!? haha
Yea I don’t get not doing that either. It’s the way of the universe.
Omg...why isfps always give us the absolutely wrong future with confident and later forget now i know
Wow you described me perfectly with opposing Ni there (ESFP). I see the consequences but yeah I ignore what might be the consequences because then I limit myself.
So true! I will certainly know what will result, but then I won't take action on it. :/
But this is why I rely on my husband to reflect what I share with him and help me decide what to do with that knowledge. 🤷🏻♀️
Ni dominant here, i'm always overthinking about almost everything 😭
Calypso, could you please do a video on you and your ESTJ bf speaking about one (or a few) topics? I would be very interested to see the real life example of how a high Ne/low Si user and high Si/low Ne user talk about the same thing to see how the cognitive differences manifest in real life.
“You ask them about their fav movie and...all of a sudden they start talking about their whole life.” Got me sold right there lol infj guy here 😂🙋🏻♂️ We have like brains made out of spaghetti but they’re not all stringy nor all hard and straightforward. Just simply connected. New to this and love the vids : ) They help me identify my typological preferences. Thx!
Thank you this video is very clarifying!
I honestly don’t even know if I have thoughts lol this is so hard to figure out. Like I think I’m probably an ISFP or INTJ, I’ve narrowed it down to those four functions. But I don’t have very many thoughts, which is weird because I say “I think” BECAUSE I DO THINK OBVIOUSLY but I don’t have thoughts, you know? It’s just new info/prompt -> BAM (thought ig? Not coherent, there ain’t no voice up there) -> then I say it. It’s like if I don’t say it, it was never thought. I speak aloud to myself in private, but never just in my head. I believe this can become an issue when typing because if I don’t have thoughts, how am I supposed to decide what my dominant cognitive function is? Now I would’ve never had this thought process if I hadn’t typed as I thought it, SO HERES SOME RAW THOUGHT FOR YA! Maybe someone can type me just off of this lol that would be kinda epic ngl.
I'm an INTJ and I think. All. The Time. I never stop. So if you're wondering if you're an N; you're not, you're an S. Someone high in iNtuition, i.e hero Ni would KNOW.
@@rocketassistedgoat1079 you think sensors just don’t have thoughts or what. like let’s say I’m and ISFP for second, I’d still be talking to you as if I had thoughts.
@@myewzek2913 NOT everyone thinks all the time. You just said in your own words: you don't. I do, and I know most people don't. What you described, talking to yourself: is Te. But you don't have Ni high in your cognition stack, because if you did: you would KNOW, just as surely as if you had Ne parent or hero. ISTJ is the only other introvert besides INTJ (myself, and you do not sound like an INTJ) who has Te as parent or higher, as you describe. Everyone wants to be an N, but only 30% of the population are. And like I said, you would just KNOW if you were. Ni child and Te inferior, such as ISFP, also sounds reasonable. Notice how I also value the truth over someone's feelings, and if they don't like that: I'll double down on the truth-fuck their feelings? INTJ. You are definitely not this.
@@rocketassistedgoat1079 you don’t know me though lmao you think you can read something about someone and just know them? Dude. And that 30% stuff is bullshit dude, don’t trust every statistic you see. You’re no more rare than anyone else.
@@myewzek2913 Nonsense. Only 30% are high N users (Ni especially is considered to be the most recently evolved part of the human brain) i.e ALL INTJs are intellectuals, and intellectuals think all. The. Time. You are NOT an intellectual, lol. Also, only 2% of the population are INTJs. I don't give a shit about your feelings. Bite me, you common, unintuitive, intellectually weak Sensor.
I've recently been trying to figure out whether 6th slot Ni (or "demonstrative Ni," in socionics) is _truly_ Ni. As an auxiliary Ne user, I definitely see myself avoiding drawing singular conclusions, in favor of remaining open to countless possibilities, but I do have "lightbulb" or "aha" moments where everything seems to find together and a singular explanation clicks or I am struck with a complete idea or unshakeable premonition. But how do I know whether this is really Ni? When I stop and think about all these moments, I think a lot of the time either Si or Ti or both are interacting with Ne to limit possibilities down to the single most likely, based on logic or consistency with past experience. But there are still a few instances of these moments where it seems the ultimate conclusion was _not_ based on logic or past experience. I believe Ne+Ti or Ne+Si or Ne+Ti+Si (or Ne+Fi and Ne+Fi+Si in an INFP) can *emulate* Ni. But what I really want to know is whether INxPs (or any Ne-user, even) really experiences true Ni, even if it's not conscious.
Thoughts from any INFPs and INTPs?
And to any Ni-users reading this: what does Ni feel like for you? Can you describe one of those "aha moments" in detail?
I wouldn't say I can describe the "Aha!" moments well, certainly not in detail. It just... happens... It's seemingly random, seemingly out of the blue. I could be doing something so seemingly completely unrelated to whatever it is the "lightbulb" is connected to and get freaked out by the sudden idea bushwhack. After the brief confusion, if I am to go and mentally backtrack, I can link it to something I had previously thought about (sometimes in a very distant past) and see that something I was doing at the time of the "enlightenment" subconsciously reminded me of A, A of B, B of C and so on up to the final Z. These reminders were invisible to me, aside from A and Z. Sometimes, I don't even see A initially, and only after the "Why the hell did that pop into my mind?" backtracking.
I like Jung's definition- Ni is perception by ways of the unconscious where it is filled with archetypes and imagery- we never see reality as reality (I am INTJ, NiTe).
Perception is perception, I hate how people relate it to extrapolation... like no, if you extrapolate consciously that's judging.
For an example, my friend, I, and her boyfriend were hanging out, talkin about normal things, when I had the imagery of her hugging a HUGE leech, crying while it drank out of her. The leech then turned into stone, stopped drinking, yet she still never let go. I got from that, she is necessary for his life, she wants to be, it's killing her but she loves it too much to let go and will not let it go.
Naturally, I can't just go up to said friend and say "heyo y'all codependent as fuck"
So then the Te kicks in, I wait for shit to go downhill, and when it does, I'm loaded with solutions to fix the issues already. Often when they list the problems, I already know what it is. But I have to sit through it because experience has taught me that stating the problem right on the dot before they are ready to talk of it will lead to being accused of being a creep or even manufacturing this situation altogether.
So Ni actually ends up being one of the most useless functions in terms of keeping things from happening, sigh.
Even with friends that you've known for a long time, that trust what you see, the moral problem then arises: Do I have a right to tell them and mess with their future?
Experience has also told me that eventually they'll hate you for it. For being a debbie downer, for being a grouch. After all, they never saw what I saw. So from their perspective, it was pulled straight from thin air.
But there are also very wholesome ones- two golden flowers intertwined; happysad ones- a bird flying out of a cage, and dies in mid-flight with its last memory being the sun and wind; seriously disturbing ones- a crying cyborg child at its wits end who replaced about half of himself with machinery, asking if he can have mommy now; very weird ones- a jelly bean who has declared himself king of all cows.
No wonder Jung described us as cranks, such a fate sounds inevitable.
Edit: Note they are not hallucinations but rather images seen in my mind, and if I focus reeeeeally hard, the background of the physical world goes away and I can see it more clearly almost as if I'm there
I’m an INTP, and for me demonstrative Ni is my ability to easily and almost automatically understand implications and predict the most likely outcome of certain actions. I can also tell how long certain tasks will take based on the available information with surprising accuracy. This one helps a ton when I have procrastinated a lot and have assignments due. These intuitions are simply boring and obvious to me, so I tend to not dwell on them and I definitely do not value them or follow them unless I am under external pressure such as a time constraint or expectations from others. I also tend to relay these Ni predictions to people who are asking for advice, since I still understand this is probably the most reliable form of advice for people who do not have naturally good intuition. In terms of personal use, I prefer to use these “obvious” predictions to check if my Ne explorations are truly novel and groundbreaking. It’s sort of like Ne finds it easier to know what is new and divergent by having intimate knowledge of what is most likely, or most subconsciously obvious/convergent. Speaking from personal experience as an INTP who is dating an INTJ, I do often out-predict her during debates and know how she will respond to my points, and this prediction is often followed by me mocking her wholehearted trust of these Ni predictions/conclusions/objections that feel mundane and boring to me. I suppose the only difference in use is how much we value Ni’s input: For her it is her lifeblood and her most powerful and intimately connected function that gives her direction and insight, but for me it is an obnoxious background process that feels boring and obvious. She seriously relies on it all the time, and I only rely on it as a last resort.
This is coming from Ni aux user.
Its like a puzzle board. At first its very incomplete, so many missing pieces, cant see the picture then 2 days later something in the outside world or ur mind is thinking about something very random, then suddenly the original problem pops up and internally u know u got the answer. When i have those moments its more ‘i see, i finally understand’ than ‘aha’.
Its very hard to explain... but it seems very mystical. When i have a question, the universe will manifest the answer but whats ironic is i have to be fully present to recognize that its the answer.
If ur catholic and very spiritual its akin to asking God questions and he responds back by letting u understand his perspective. Thats the best i can describe it
Hi Heather, infp here, the typology community is divided between 2 theories...
1) first group says that we emulate the lower stack functions "5,6,7&8"
2) second group follow Dr Beebe, that we use all 8 functions...
For me, i think we use all 8 functions, coz it doesn't make sense how an infp could emulate ti...
And I've seen istp show fi moments, their inner morals comes out in small bursts, while simultaneously they don't even state logical reasons behind their decision, except "this is what i feel is right"...
Also it is harder to type mature older individuals, and i think it's because they have developed some of those shadow functions...
And from a scientific point of view Dr Dario Nardi whom perform EEG test on people's brains to look for connections, said that there are more connections in older people's brains and it's more challenging to type them than their younger counterparts...
That being said, i do experience ni by knowing what is the most probable outcome from current observation, without having past experiences about it...
Although i prefer not to neglect less probable ne outcomes "possibility", i feel like ni narrow my perspective, and i prefer to be open to all possibilities...
And shadow functions are hard to spot ourselves doing them, it's easier for an outsider to see them...
I have not seen coffee in any of your videos, rectify this immediately
I noticed when you do the video by yourself, you are more relaxed.
I'm an ENFJ!
Fe = I appreciate & enjoy your contribution to Carl J, MBTI community.
Fi = I don't quite agree with the Auxiliary description. You said that Ni auxiliary can be used but must be more intentional. That Ni auxiliary would be used to aid Te & Fe. That is factual, however through my own experience, thinking in pictures to map out my goals values have been pivotal for my success versus just creating harmony within a social network.
I've noticed that there is a lot of content on default programming on MBTI functions. However, there's not a lot of content on how INFJ would prefer to use their Fe & Ti more in conjunction with their Ni, or an ENFJ would use Fe & Se more.
As a kid, I daydreamed a lot in school of the possible outcomes of what I wanted. To the point, my grades were affected. My endless daydreaming & imagination was and is a Ni trait.
I would stand up to bullies who picked on weaker individuals, so I agree with you that my Fe was an inherent behavior.
It is agreed within the MBTI community that the auxiliary Ni user has and can be more balanced /responsible with the use of introverted intuition.
Even though Fe is my first slot, I consistently find myself reviewing snapshot pictures of visualizations from my past to get things done for me.
When I was younger, I Initially, by default, would use Ni for more social interaction. However, as I matured, I subconsciously changed.
I’ve learned to use my Fi unconscious function in a manner that requires my Introverted intuition to work in harmony with principles that coincide with responsible Ti logic & grounded with diligent Se.
Some types jump their DOM functions preference for Auxiliary if their intrapersonal skills are developed. I use my intuition to narrow down the things that matter on getting my goal accomplished and foresee how I want to move.
It would be cool to see a video description of mature developed cognitions versus the default programming of types. I guess what I’m saying is there are few of us amongst the MBTI community who understand subconscious programming and power maximizing our behaviors to use our thinking faculty with efficiency.
As a fellow ENFJ, I second this ;)
In fact, as an ENFJ who spent way too much time being by myself in the last few years and really tapping into my introverted intuitive side, I feel like my Ni is so developed that sometimes it feels even stronger than my dominant Fe lol.
And yes I do automatically apply Ni in perceiving everything around me and in all aspects of my life, not just in a people-related manner. So agree with you on that one.
This was really interesting and I enjoyed it!
Brilliant !!! Cant wait for Ne and Si.
Super helpful and insightful, thanks.
On the topic of movies or fiction in general, what aspects of a story would each mbti type more likely focus on? Would certain types be more focused on how well written the characters and their interactions are, whether they can relate to any of the characters, relating underlying ideas and phenomena in the plot/story to the real world, factual correctness, worldbuilding etc. ?
That was a great content as usual, but this one stands out, wow, you prepared well and i can see how much effort you put into it...
Would like to know what books do you recommend, and how do you reach to your understanding other than being smart 😀😁😊
I'm infp as well, and you make me proud to be one ☺️
Thank you for all your hard work and efforts you put forth to share this amazing information 👍
@@adamagustus1316 it's nice to hear that, but I would like to know why she said that?

Well what about INTPs "si sorting ne" as well...
What about ni sorting se... Lol I'd rather direct my energy towards someone who wants to learn not towards someone who's looking for an ego boost...

Omg please do a video on how dom Se’s are attracted to dom Ni’s!! This has been a major curiosity of mine. I love ESTPs. I love ESFPs. I don’t know why. I just do. I’m an INTJ
Im an Infj and married an esfp. I think it has a lot to do with that fact that both of us like “things” more than people and we also have each others suppressed function, so we help each other out a lot in terms of tweeking world view and introspection.
ESTP Chad Male Number 6,901,280,293. Ni description is accurate
Please make an example. Let's say a Ne and Ni dom were studying in the library and someone just randomly made noise, screamed for no apparent reason. How would these two types perceive what just happened?

5:42 The number of times you say "thing" just cracks me up silly!
I can definitely pick up on patterns and what is troubling another person but I miss I miss it a fair amount too . I usually can see multiple ways that something will play out but if I miss a few times I lose confidence in my insights and feel like don’t ask me!🤣
Instead once again the auxiliary function is noticeably different from the dominant function in how it works.
I can see inferior Ni people they can stay with a single idea or belief long I have modified, expanded on it or moved on.
Lovely art work 💜
4:36 this is so correct. I thought I was a ne dom or aux for a long time
I consider myself an INxP, and I tend to draw with the same style in different mediums. However, I can easily categorize things into different things. It's like I start off with a singular concept or idea, and branch further and further into the seas of the horizon.
probably intp
OMG, that is SO TRUE about ISFPs art being sort of all the same. I have a neighbor who is this 70 year old ISFP surfer and artist and he pretty much only paints watercolors of the beach and our beach town and shore birds. Like there must be 30 paintings hung around his home all on this same theme, same color palette, etc. And YES, LOL, he always thinks he's being so deep. It cracks me up inside because I am an INTJ and I'm thinking "dude, that "epiphany" or great deep advice you just spoke of was so obvious already. Don't flatter yourself and try to act like you are some guru." I don't say that to HIM of course but I just sort of chuckle inside and roll my eyes inside my mind.
I have an ISTP friend that devalues and ridicules my Ni conclusions... he just thinks I’m making things up and even when clearly something happens that proves the validity of an Ni conclusion, he scuffs it off as coincidence or probability and does not give credit to the intuitive process that brought it about. Is this common for Ti doms?
I guess that's because of Se/ blind Ne.
To I'm an INTP with an INFJ friend I trust her and her conclusions immensely.
As an intp, I am suspicious of Ni conclusions unless I can proven it with my Ti model, but I usually don't reject it right a way as they can be very insightful a lot of times.
I dont know if this is a Ni-dom or not, but one day i was washing my dishes and I think I was also daydreaming while doing it, then some random stuff suddenly pop up in my head and it's like a big answer for things that currently happening in my life. This kind of things happen really often, and I still dont know how should i call that?
Like I dont understand how my brain works
You're great
Are there famous ISFP artists ( I’m sure there are) but I am thinking of different artists that seem to paint mostly the same things but that could be Si as well .
AALIYAH 😊
David Bowie is meant to be; ISFP or INTJ. I've always thought he was very much like me, INTJ., but he might be the other type.

Some of her clients probably were Ni doms, even though she thought they weren't. She's not just typing on the physical things a person does. She's also analyzing what a client says, and they might not realize they need to say more. Ne Nemisis stops Ni doms from talking about personal things unless they trust you. Ni doms also tend to learn that people don't understand where they get their insights and understandings from, so they tend to withhold certain information from other people. This is why her typing is off on previous videos. Her explanations are excellent, but she doesn't know how people operate in the real world.
That’s interesting, do you have any example videos of that? I’m not so sure you really need an Ni dom to get personal though for Ni to be revealed, as they most enjoy commenting on broader trends and concepts, whereas ENFJs or ISFPs, where the feeling function comes first is likely to be personal about things
@@b_nadams If you ask an Ni dom more questions then more information will flow out of them, especially if they realize you're willing to have a deep conversation. What if there is no one to ask more questions and they're just talking a camera? I've met an INFJ in her ENFP shadow. After some deep questions, she went back into her ego and revealed more to me. She didn't like being personal. I'm in my ENTP shadow more than my INTJ ego because of work. I have a video you would probably enjoy analyzing, but I'll only share the link privately.
Do you think J K Rowling is an ENTJ or INFJ?
@@b_nadams She also mentioned these questions:
How's this connected to your meaning of life?
How's it connected to this thing you did yesterday
How's it connected to the thing you're going to do tomorrow
Those questions are personal. The questions for the typing service are not presented in such a way that all Ni doms will realize they should discuss their discovery of nihilism, for example. It's also hard to find the words to express these understandings and epiphanies. Our minds are full of vivid pictures.
i felt bad for them :( i think that Ni doms can't really describe their function but they're sure they have it
@L94 You've fallen in love with her videos? After two years, I now realize a lot of people have their own interesting theories.
I LOVE ENTJ'S
What's your type
How much of introverted intuition, which I view as prescience, is conscious?
As a fully developed INFJ Ni-dom, I believe I'm over 80% accurate in prediction. I often loop Ni-Ti, which allows Ti to consciously(?) list, classify, and analyze, that is, "bake" Ni probabilities into a firm conclusion.
I'm an intp, and to me it's not conscious, but more like a dream, an involuntary moment of insight.
For me, Ni points to a valuable insight, then i quickly mentally reverse-engineer and it with Ne and Ti to better understand it (mentally connecting it to other stuff). Then I write a note about it so that i don't have to worry about losing it. Then from there Ne does its thing and branches out from the Ti'd Ni insight to new ideas that it wouldn't have gotten to otherwise, and i can write more notes. I guess an anlogy would be Ni being like a tree's root system, and Ne being like the above-ground part of the tree (look at the water/nutrients flow through the tree).
@@adamagustus1316 well lucky for me (or unlucky cuz it means i suck at doing tedious mental work), Se's my blindspot, so if i have Ni, it's uninhibited by Se
@@adamagustus1316 Ok, i deleted my comment asking what Ni was and now your horror movie intuition comment popped up for some reason (i guess YT does this hide-the-first-of-two-comments thing to prevent spam).
I rate that example 10/10, now i have a concrete idea to connect Ni with. It seems pretty different from the Ni i described (mine isn't as much about the future) (i guess it's different for each slot).
@@xynx1211 "tedious mental work". May I offer you a perspective that could
'enlighten' your tedious mental work question.
My son is an INTP. I will tell you how he handled a factory job with
12 tedious hours of work. He performed quality control on those little prescription bottles being loaded into a box and made ready for the next step in the factory line. 12 hours a day but the schedule was 4 days on, 4 days off. The pay was excellent for our state and he needed a job immediately.
He is able to retreat into his head and disassociate himself from his task. He simply doesn't need or want
to pay attention to his task at hand, however, he is doing it accurately and efficiently. Accuracy being key.
If their shift made mistakes and errors were found, it was never when he was on the line.
When I realized he was just standing there all night and doing repetitive tasks, I began offering solutions
to help him endure 12 mind-numbing hours of tedious labor.
I simply could not and would not do that unless survival and safety for my family were necessary. In this spirit and also being a Mom, I suggested audiobooks. I told him about hiring a reader as the women did in the Cuban tobacco days where the women learned politics because someone read them a newspaper while they rolled tobacco and chatted.
I had dozens of ideas until I simply asked him how he handles the factory line.
The secret to asking an INTP a question is giving them time to consider and answer. There is much to consider
in one question. This is true for me, too, but at my age, there is little that I have not considered.
My son explained that he used that time to think about his current Dungeons and Dragons game, how he should address his next forum and who the characters are where they need to be next, how to get there, where will their quest go, and their DM needs some information. And their DM is very much the ENTJ. Pure dominant Energy type.
For 12 hours, he is inside his head, sitting at his desk, not standing in a factory line. He is writing, creating and planning. He may be standing in a factory line in reality but his physical body is not there. When he leaves the factory, 12 hours later, Himself has accomplished 12 hours of work devoted to his interests which are centered around one basic subject, RPGs.
In my case, left alone with no new information available and only my thoughts alone to process, life would be intolerable eventually. My imagination is vivid and I read the stories of the POW's in Vietnam and battles gone past,
I know how they survived and I also passed survival training. Experience and life must be considered when we
compare personality types. Also, our parental figures will be important to factor in, because we value what we are taught to value until we learn what we ourselves value. My parents were SJ's in a military family, I value rules
and social etiquette and while I trust, I verify and follow my own internal rules and values. And my son will also.
If I was isolated and a prisoner of war, I could tolerate solitary confinement and thrive but I am not
a prisoner of war and being held in solitary confinement.
I understand my options in my world and would find something else to do, instead. When I joined the military, I carefully researched the jobs, tested well and picked a job that would keep new information continually coming at me. I wanted a job with the action but not my own physical action except I did want to go to Ranger School and I wanted a job that was interesting.
I was a 1C3 which may be the ideal military job for an INTJ. I should check my records. I wonder if
they typed me during my security clearance processing.
We did not talk MBTI then but they do now. When I was on Reddit in the INTJ community, I met a young man typed during his fraternity days and then typed by the AF and he and I compared notes and he said they look for the INTJ's...lol Roh! roh! Its been twenty years, geez, will they be surprised if they find me again.
In the classic MBTI model, I am an INTJ. My son is an INTP. His Father is ESTP. I hope our perspectives offer
you some new information. Cheers!
@@wynstansmom829 Thank you for this comment. Factory work isn't what i meant by mental task though, that's the type of stuff i can happily go autopilot on (allowing me to think about whatever i want to think about in the meantime). I don't mind monotonous physical work, because it gives me time to think. My problem is stuff like homework, which requires you to actually engage your brain in the task at hand, thereby diverting energy from thinking about what you want to think about. What happens is that if the mental task's not interesting enough, my thoughts naturally drift away from it (this could also be my ADD, though "ADD" seems to more or less be the same thing as just being an intp who can't focus), and I'm unable to do said mental task.
Meds work by basically shutting off the non-stop mental wondering. They certainly work (assuming you get your sleep and aren't in a self-defeating mindset), but also make me less creative, and i get less enjoyment out of things (i have a harder time enjoying the moment). If you understand the cognitive functions, this is basically shutting off Ne (extroverted intuition, which is creative and spontaneous (more subconscious)), leaving me with only Ti (introverted thinking, which is uncreative, structured, and deliberate (more conscious)).
Its an Ni video but i learned nore about Se ans Ne than ani

lmaooo yea tru, wat can i say im a dramatic bitch.
Funny comment about the boyfriend not being able to pick these things about her ..haha
That somehow feels like a widely general phenomena
That's so interesting to me that she feels an INFJ picking up on why she feels the way she does is a bad thing, intuited "without her consent." I don't appreciate people jumping to conclusions when said conclusions are false, but I would not be offended by someone not only picking up on my emotions, but also intuitively understanding why I felt the way I did. I really admire the INFJ's ability to do so. I actually don't really like having to explain my emotions. I'd prefer someone close to me be able to accurately deduce and just "get me," so I don't have to explain my reasons for every thing I do and participate in needless talking. So I actually don't think this is a universal phenomenon. Unless Yash was referring to "men not getting why women are upset" as the general phenomenon.
@@heatherbryant4197 Fi vs Fe?
@@PowerRedBullTypology Maybe! I was wondering the same thing myself. I never really did settle on a concrete conclusion for my own type, but I've only ever entertained INFP as a what-if possibility and always come back to INTP.
