    To prevent that wood on the top of your washer & dryer from rattling around during the spin cycle & tumble drying, add felt pads (intended for the bottom of chair legs) underneath the countertop at the precise points where the wood meets the tops of the appliances. So that no wood is directly touching the tops of those appliances. Also, seal it well with polyurethane, bottom and top. That way, in the event it gets wet (if you accidentally spill laundry detergent or fabric softener or if you inadvertently put a piece of wet clothing on there) it won’t absorb any water, then swell, stain or warp. It’s worked phenomenally for me for years now! I absolutely love it!

      But the dryer will burn out if you keep the shelf touching the dryer and washer and NOT a Great Idea to Use Felt Pads AND IF YOU COVER IT WITH ANY KIND OF POLYURETHANE DON'T DO IT WITH IT STILL ATTACHED TO THE WALLS, TAKE THE SHELF OUT AND IF YOU SPILL THE POLYURETHANE AND IT GOT TO THE DRYER AND THE SHELF IS TOO CLOSE TO THE DRYER AND THE POLYURETHANE WILL PULL ITSELF IN FOR BEING THAT CLOSE TO THE DRYER'S HEAT AND NOT REALLY A GREAT IDEA TO DO.... and the funny thing is that the comments that is telling you that it's wrong to have the shelf to close to the Dryer and Blocking Air only have one Or two Likes but the Suggestions for doing it Wrong Way has a 307 Likes And 41 Likes And A Hearts From You and Us Older People that has seen that it's not a Great Idea and Will Lead to Failure in Time and have ALOT More time on the Earth and Do know that you're going to be in Trouble with the SHELF LOCATION AND COVERING THE AIR FROM VENTING AWAY FROM THE DRYER AND OR YOU WILL HAVE TO LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.....

    This girl blows my mind! I watch her work and see what all she can do and figure out, and mind blown. It's a good day when I vacuum, dust, wash clothes or clean the house. That is an accomplishment! She is just on another level and I LOVE seeing a female not only have the know how, but the desire and will, to take these projects on. I can't imagine what it must feel like to do what she does and then stand back, look, and know "I did that!" Thumbs up!

    Seedling tip. You may already know this but keep your newly planted seeds in the dark, warm, and moist. If you can build them a
    greenhouse out of plastic, wire and a plastic lined cardboard box so much the better. When the seeds sprout and stick up above the soil take the top off the little greenhouse because they don't need that much moisture anymore and will dampen off and die if they get to much moisture at this stage. Slowly get them accustomed to light . Give them a little light each day, gradually increasing the amount they get as they grow. If you give them to much to soon you will burn their tender little selves and they will die.

      Heat mat first but keep them moist, once they started to push through the soil take them off the heat mats and stick them under the grow lights. If they stay on the mats too long they can get too tall and struggle at the early plant stage. Good luck with it. Your bedroom looks great, and I'm sure it will be perfect once youve finished

    • @amywert8088
      @amywert8088 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can even water them and then lay a piece of cardboard over the top to keep them wet
      until they poke up through the dirt.

    • @light_and_sound
      @light_and_sound ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@hannahleeduggan You may want to look into hanging your grow lights. You will want them super close to the trays at first so the seedlings don't get leggy (stretched out) and then you'll want to be able to raise them up as the seedlings grow. Most people I know (myself included) hang their lights. 🙂

  • @signe2102
    @signe2102 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Hannah! Tip for your seedlings: wet your soil in a bucket before you put them in the seed pots! You want it to be moist but not so wet that they are soaking. Then use that moist dirt to fill the seed start pots to the top and make a hole with your finger to the depth the seed needs (measurements will be on seed packets). This way the water will disperse throughout the soil and not create air pockets and you will have full seed pots that allow the seed to get enough nutrients and light (the soil shrinks down when you get it wet).

Bears, deer, cougars, coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, skunks and bobcats to name a few. I saw bears and deer come back year after year with their offspring. I did feed a deer I called Seven (he had 7 points total) apples one year and every year after losing his antlers he would coming at me and I prayed it his and not an angry deer!! Hey Hannah Lee, the shelf that is above the washer and dryer, needs to be A little MORE Room above them and not actually touching them, cause they will need Air circulation for them and could burn out and Any heat from them always rises and needs to escape and I have seen ours burn out with Too many clothes on the top of the dryer and covering the dryer machine vent and still having it to vent to the outside, wasn't The problem with it but how many clothes are on the top and you need to raise the shelf and let the air away to escape and love 💕 all that you accomplished....

    I bought large clear plastic bins with lids. Had been saving any plastic container I could over the year. Drilled holes in the bottom. Put a folded paper towel on the bottom and filled with a mixture of seedling soil and garden soil. Mixed it well. I planted straight into those. In the beginning for about 3 days I had them indoors on heat mats just to help get seeds started. After that I brought the bins out every day. Put them out in the sun. They re like mini greenhouses. You can see the moisture on the inside walls and tops. I d bring them in just for the night if it’s really cold. But once night time temps are 45 ish I just make sure lids are on and I leave them outside overnight. After the plants sprout I leave the lids off when outside for a hour. Every few days I leave the lid off longer til eventually they are off most of the day. After your last frost date I d wait another week or so to be sure then transplant into the ground. And if there was a warning of an unexpected frost just be sure you have some kind of row cover to throw on your garden overnight to keep the frost from killing your plants.

    I model rivers for flooding, and it wouldn’t surprise me if your garage (and maybe the house, too 😕) is built in a floodplain…😞 If it has flooded the garage before, there’s a chance you might find a high water mark in it, unless the building has been replaced recently. I’d check for any horizontal lines/shadows of discoloration on the inside or outside the building, and the tree trunks near the river. Those lines may show historical high water elevations from the river.
    A rain-on-snow event with the river that high, plus all the new snow, might cause a need for some sandbags… 😕 I‘m hoping it will melt gradually.

    Yes! Thank you for working on sterling silver version of your ring. I was a jeweler and one of the things that can fuck up a casting is not putting enough copper into the silver prior to casting (when it is molten). There is a formula for the mixture of copper to silver. If there is stuff in the copper it will fuck it up too. I'm hoping for a bright silver as opposed to chemically-produced antique look. Good luck! I ordered seven of your gold ones as Christmas presents and had to cancel as all of my sisters have switched to silver. Whoo-hoo they are going to be surprised.

    Happy belated bday 🎉, glad the fish made it. If you buy deer corn or feed you'll get them to come close enough to eat from your hand. It's a skill indigo children can master. See winter fades and Spring sprung. April showers bring may flowers. The river that runs through our back yard was up about 20 feet by about 35 ish across from the heavy rains. The Manasqaun you can take it all the way to the ocean. It's normally about 1 to 6 ft deep in parts by about 11-14 feet across. Don't know if you have an issue with ground water in the basement but a sump pump makes life easier plus u can use it on the pond fer water changes. Don't forget to check the bulbs on your uv sterilizer. You should also get a second able saw if you see a deal on one it makes woodworking projects much easier. A ban saw is fer if you get real serious and will let you work metal stock as well. 💜✨✨✨🌀

    I've watched quite a few of your videos. You are a legend! Your many skills never cease to amaze me. I've got a small herd of whitetail deer hanging around my cabin all the time too. Gotta love those sweet animals. I hope your place doesn't flood too badly during the next few weeks. Here the snow is gone down in the valley bottoms but with all that mountain snow still to melt high water is weeks away. From one Aries to another, take care and enjoy your wonderful journey here on planet Earth. Cheers!

    I'm sure you've already thought of this, but when repurposing wood, especially from outside projects, make sure it isn't pressure treated - it realeases toxic fumes 😅

    Make sure you have space between the dryer and counter. When I had my dryer repaired, the guy who did it said , “ never have anything in top of the dryer when it’s running, not even clothes” I guess it can cause problems .

    Happy belated birthday!
    How old are you, Hannah?
    I love your land, and it makes me miss the seasons. I live in Florida, and we have our versions of seasons but not like those up north. I kind of think up north seasons are the way it should be, the land sleeps for the winter and wakes up ready to begin again. I loved seeing all of your crocus bulbs peeking up and all of those deer and those birds! You have a special and lovely world and I'm thankful I get to see it.
    I've gardened a lot, but I learned something big this year. I haven't had luck starting seeds and I watched Becky of Acre Homestead start seeds and saw I have been doing it wrong. She put all of the seed starting mix in a pan and watered it heavily before putting it in the seed tray cells. This was a problem I had in the past, the lightweight starting mix wouldn't, absorb the water and it would sit on top. This year I'm doing it Becky's way and I bet it will help a lot. I just wanted to put this bit here since you said you are new to gardening.
    I love how your built ins look in your bedroom with the plants, they look perfect! Well, they will if books are added in. God Bless!
