  • TheCousinDan shows you the basics of how to roof a house. Several other things may apply to your project depending on roof features, including: drip edge, flashing, hips, valleys, etc. but this covers ~90% of the work. This video will be sufficient for playhouses and most sheds, etc.

    "If you are standing on the roof, this backing is extremely slippery and if you step on it you just might make it all the way to the ground." Funny but true!

    My plan was to make a covered firewood rack out of pallet wood and I stumbled across some shingle bundles that have been gathering dust since we did the roof years ago. This was the perfect level of backyard engineering that I needed to get things started. Thanks!

      Owens Corning is always a good choice. Generally dimensional shingles are thicker, could be tougher.

    • @TheCousinDan

      Interesting thought. Ideally, the water never reaches the surface of the wood anyway. Epoxy can be expensive too.

    Why the hell would you use ice and water shield on an 8/12? It pisses me off that people put videos online that people watching them will trust and think that they can put on their own roof this is garbage and I wish this guy a lifetime of bad luck.

    • @TheCousinDan
      @TheCousinDan  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You sound like a fun person to be around. Ice and water shield may be excess for steeper slopes, but it does not hurt. Meanwhile, you will notice that this video does not comment on the slope, but only presents a general overview of roofing practices. This means I need to show the flatter roof people what they may need to know as well. Thanks for watching.
      I wish you a lifetime of health and happiness!

    Concrete roof is the way to go , it can last for up to a century. It’s one of the most long-lasting roofing materials available in the market, and yet I don’t understand why peoples still using this crap to build their roofs . A concrete roof is storm , hurricane and fire proof . They generally low maintenance, meaning they are easy to clean and aren’t too difficult to access.You can even host a party on your roof :) . I never understood why American are using this crap and keep waisting their money on repairs and replacement every 5 to 10 years . Very stupid
