Its so crazy that i have 14 years plus of experience hands on roofing i used to work as a roofer installer. But always ending up in the wrong jobs. I piled up all that experience for nothing but this week coming up. I decided to join in as a roofing sales guy. With a construction company of one of my friends. Lets see how it goes 👍 watching this videos to refresh my mind. Noce video by the way 👍

Actually, although the terms 'slope' and 'pitch' are used interchangeably, they are quantified differently. A roof with a 45-degree angle would be defined as a 12/12 slope. That means 12" of rise for every 12" of run. On a building 20' wide, the top of the ridge would be 10' above the wall top plate. That same roof would be defined as having a half (1/2) pitch, meaning the ridge height above the top plate is one half the width of the building. Your example of 18/12 would be a three-quarter (3/4) pitch. Yes, I know that it's an archaic meaning that no one uses any more but thought I would throw some history in there.

I replaced some of my Ridge caps today. When I went to the hardware store the pieces I was sold were about 1 inch less wide than the ridge caps on the roof. ? 🤔
