    “No one warned us.” Is just such a great all encompassing line. Hindsight is always 20/20 but when you are in the moment with lives in your hands you can’t make the perfect maneuvers. You have to the best you can with the information you have.

      I hated that line. I reckon there would have been a better punchline to smash these panels. "No one warned us" sounds like Sully backed off after the panel said "They had all the same parameters". It would have been better if he replied with the "humanity out of the cockpit" line as it replies directly to the same parameter non-sense. Decision making is part of the parameter that Sully faced as the plane lost both engines.

      @@chupapibingbong Is it not true, though? No one told either pilot, “Hey, you’re going to get hit by a bird strike, but keep calm and go back the way you came.” It just happened. Nothing seemed off that day, no foreboding warning signs. Nothing. They aren’t backing off, they’re telling the truth. They’re saying “your guys were warned about this, we weren’t”.

    • @dr.pastrami5272
      @dr.pastrami5272 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@xyPERSON That's exactly correct. A hero is an average person who selflessly donates their time to people in need for no compensation, or willingly risk their life to help an individual or a community.
      Parental roles are expected in a family unit. The father provides and protects for the family. The mother nurtures and cares for the offspring. You're not considered a hero for filling your role in a relationship. Its what's expected of you.
      Cops and security are trained and compensated for putting themselves in harms way to stop criminals. They sign up with the known intention that this scenario could possibly happen. Same goes for firefighters, EMTs, and soldiers alike. Their jobs are admirable because they willingly take on the risk so we don't have to. But they're still jobs in the end. Like an accountant, or an IT specialist. You can be thankful and appreciative for first responders, but dont call them heros for doing their jobs. They were trained for these scenarios.
      A hero is a store clerk helping a total stranger deliver her baby. A hero is a student teenager willingly raising money to donate to a charity. A hero is a plumber helping a family out of burning building or stopping an act of domestic violence.
      You see the difference? Heroism takes courage without preperation. Courage is grace under pressure.

      Cao Hai Thanh using the word miracle gives no credit to the people who did their job in outstanding ways on the worst of the situations and circumstances. That makes the difference between crashes that you may ignore details about. In this case also the first responders, the air controllers, the decision Sully made, his decisions after the landing, the flight attendants who directed and helped the passengers. This was not a miracle, this was hard team work of people with decades of experience. They all deserve credit. We have to stop taking credit off of real people, decision making, common sense, critical thinking, fast thinking. Speed when landing in water is critical for the survival of the craft. That makes a difference. He knew how to land at a speed that wouldn’t break it. EXPERIENCE, decisions, thinking fast etc

I absolutely hate the second half where they demonise the NTSB, who are such an important organistion, just one of the many who have helped improve and safeguard aviation as it evovles from their hard work investigating crashes and other related incidents. In real life they were actually singing praises of sully from the get go and the invesgitation was a cordial, with full cooperation from both sides. Based on true events means that you take poetic licences to create emotions. In the end it is a celebration to a brilliant captain, this is the way we people give thanks. Never look to movies to understand reality, history or accurate portrayal. It never happens. We turn to Documentaries, biographies and scientific data and history investigation for those things. If movies became the standard of knowledge, people wouldn't know fact from fiction. Movies advertises themselves openly as entertainment with various categories of Drama, Action and so on. You watch it for those purposes; if you watch it for education and truth you are in the completely wrong section.
      It is pointless to argue. Movies are MOVIES not something else. Educating oneself is done through other mediums. This story has been accurate told through news outlets and books. I never got upset from watching movies when they are "depicting" my ancestors - Vikings - because i know that movies are supposed to be entertainment. So i let every silly thing pass by as i chew down the popcorns. Same with Indians or Cowboys or anything else. It is just a movie. I know history and "truth" already about those topics so i just laugh it off. I haven't watched this movie yet, i haven't come around to it. But i will watch it with the knowledge of HUGE poetic licences being taken.

    • @jacobhamselv
      @jacobhamselv 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is constructed as a court hearing so Sully can be vindicted and is entirely bull. The entire accident and landing covers 30 mins cause it was that timeframe the actual accident happened in, but you can't end the movie after 30 mins, so they came up with all this to expand the plot.
      In actuality the board is not there to judge or anything, its to investigate and then make future recommendations etc for the overall safety. Sully himself even said that this movies board members were incorrectly portrayed as antagonists, even though throughout the whole thing there were none.

    It sounds like Sully was saying: “Can we get serious now” as a statement rather than a question.

      too bad he took several flights to epsteins island and is responsible for a lot of crimes against humanity

    • @seraphinaaizen6278

      @@theOldApple556 Tom Hanks never went to Epstein's island. We literally have the flight logs, and he isn't on any of them. The reason this rumour started it because he spoke out against Trump, and the small dicked cultists in Qanon couldn't hack that, so they started spreading lies about him (and a number of other celebrities) being on Epstein's island. Keep in mind, this is the same group that claimed there was a child sacrificing satanic cult operating out of the basement of a pizza parlor that doesn't even have a basement.
      Let me guess, you're one of those people who think pizzagate was real too, right?
      The biggest irony of the whole thing is that Trump actually WAS a frequent flyer to Epstein's island. Usually traveling in the company of Epstein himself and a number of "female companions". Trump also stated once that he lives Epstein because: "He's always got a lot of young girls around".
      I suspect at this point that the Trump cultists who repeat this lie know very well that Hanks never went there, and they know very well that Trump did. They just don't care. Because they are an anti-fact cult.

    The fake way in which the NTSB were portrayed is not only extremely inaccurate and insulting, but also quite hurtful to the investigators of the NTSB who did not try to blame the crew at all and in fact praised their skill and professionalism.
    People may say they needed conflict for the film, but just like the Crown, people will see this film as the truth.

    • @WalkthroughHorde
      @WalkthroughHorde 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      how is this hurtful towards them. yeah maybe some dumbass random moviegoer will go "wow the NTSB sucks! that's messed up" but if someone sees this kinda thing and blindly takes it as fact, and is actually in some position for it to matter towards the NTSB what they think, that's indicative of much more important problems than a movie being dramatic.

      I think it’s very Clint Eastwood to pain every situation as the heroic individual versus the oppressive bureaucrats from the overregulatory government. It’s totally ideological, and he doesn’t give a damn if it has nothing to do with reality.

    Pilots are trained to never make snap decisions when presented with an unusual/emergency situation. The 3-step process to dealing with EVERY such situation in the air is to 1) maintain aircraft control, 2) analyze the situation, and 3) take appropriate action. This video is the perfect example of humanity at its finest.
