Hear hear!! 99% of the vids are on new components with beautiful 360 access, while in real world, on some of the jobs you carry a foldable bucket just in case you have to puke.
If I had a medal I'd hand it to you. The dirt around where you were working in that bathroom. The more of these jobs you do on YT, the more these jobs will find you. x
Nice one, again, Luke. Way, way, way back, did something similar with changing an old bath, from the 70s', lead piping on the 22s', replaced them with copper, isolators added, first time facing one, the bath wouldn't come out. Had an iron mallet to help knock it off the wall to no avail, then the mallet dropped and split the bath. That was my saving grace, had to take it out in pieces. 🤨 👍👍👍
Love your vids bro, really wish i didnt drop out of my apprenticeship when i was a teenager, would love the work now, back then it never made any sense lol 😂
Brilliant job Luke tough one for sure. Perseverance that’s the key to plumbing. Honestly it must be the only job where the rules are flung out the window and you have to think so quick on your feet. Well done superb video. Now I know what to do if I get a job like that.
I think you did a good job considering what you were up against not much copper wastes about any more but i have seen lead wastes now and again thank goodness for plastic
Done the job, think I would have changed the stack though, your allowed to cut asbestos cement damp it down as you cut, double bag it and seal, you can get asbestos company’s to pick it up from the door step for not too much, done it a few times, just use one of the rubber 100mm couplers with the big jubilee clips to get you back onto plastic.
I would get asbestos removal in if he wanted new stack to be honest, I don’t mind taking it out in full piece but never really fancied having a go at cutting 👍
Ah the Joy of working alone mate. I been using Plumbers mate on Waste install, i trust it and it works and if i have any left over i make a plasticine man to throw at the wall yes i am immature. love watching your work, it reminds why Plumbing is a Love Hate relationship
What a shit state of affairs that was!! I've seen silicone in place of just about everything (I only do DIY, family and free work for some old people on a local social app where I am) so putting it where it's needed is absolutely nothing to be upset about!! Another great one Luke and it's great to see people that enjoy the stuff that's not every day work 🎉🎉
Ooohhhh I love a good old cast iron bath …. NOT!!! I’d have gone for on of the hybrid adhesives that you can use in wet conditions as it tends to create a good seal and you can quickly test it for leaks after! Perfectly understand why sealant is used in this situation so your forgiven haha! Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! And enjoy a beer after it’s all done 👍
That whole job was my life for many years working on old council blocks. Always had to cut everything off and im talkin pre the invention of the multi tool 🤦🏼♂️😂😂 i think terrain still make a 32&40mm solvent to male iron plastic coupling which would have been handy
You found a right little beauty there mate but fair play for just doing what you gotta do.....I haven't come across copper waste since i did my own bathroom thank f#'k 🤣
@@bluebulldog_ukI am very excited upcoming plumber and watching your videos and many others has made this so much easier for me. Thank you for all the content ❤
What happens with those bosses on the asbestos is over time the asbestos much like chipboard and water does they start to swell up and then you lose the integrity of it & then you're looking at a new stack! The waste pipes are normally 1" not 1¼ and it seems that's the size they always used . It's the same here in Brighton . If I showed you some of the bosses and hiw they were fitted to stacks you'd be shocked. Loads are around where I live housing estates built in the late 50' and mid sixties everything was asbestos! Much like you where you had to use ptfe to make like a cone of sorts to seal the waste into the stack. I've used an O ring before and I was surprised it actually worked !! That leak on the stack all you can really do is use something like CT1 or similar where you can apply it with water present will probably be the best you can do! Like I mentioned before to you use a deep seal trap or a viva waterless trap so the toilet doesn't suck out the seal on it!! Overall you did a tidy job! Remember the wastes are made in with Red Lead ! Heat them up with a blow lamp the cast iron will absorb the heat anyways and that nut should come undone alot easier . Only thing you have tk be careful of is tapping the waste fitting back up into the bath as sometimes it pulls the enamel off and chips 🙈 The Americans use a recip through the waste fitting from the top, cut the grating out with a multi tool and then cut through the waste in 2 slots and voila out it comes! I had to do alot of this as an apprentice in the 70's . What can catch out is the waste fitting can be 1¼ so the waste hole in the bath is smaller therefore then the 1½ waste fitting won't fit ! So you had a bit of luck 👍 You'll find as you come across more they're nearly all 1" waste and adaptive traps ends which fit the waste but are 1¼ on the other end of the trap which screw onto the bath waste. Moving forward I would just say it needs ripping out as it will come back and bite you in the arse so to speak! Oh yeah STOP using knuckle bends on waste .😅 Especially baths as they clop up with hair super quick and then you can't rod them , thats why I always use large radius swept bends 👍 Keep up the great work, I like watching your stuff as you do the job properly unlike some of the other tubers on here! If you ever want any advice on the older stuff that you come across just holler ok 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk no worries . It's only that I've come across similar over the years. What I like about that job is the lovely scrap coming out
Half of it fell apart thou 😂😂👍
A bloody museum that place. I thought 80s work looked old. Dad's Arny would recognise that lot 😅
Waste pipe across the ceiling, in full view? lovely 😂
I know…never seen anything like it before to be honest
I love your spirit, never let a job beat you 👍
Real world plumbing at last, not no easy rad or sink installation, well done to ya mate

Top work that mate, considering what you had to work with, most plumbers would have run a mile.

I seem to find all the copper, lead and asbestos wastes for some reason 😅 yep plastic 100% easier than the old stuffn
You’re a lot braver than me mate, I would have walked in and walked back out looking at that 😂 why’s it hanging on the ceiling. Top work fella
