It's mandatory that it be foggy when you visit the alchemist! What a lovely shop. The wooden furniture had me drooling. Looking forward to some great videos.
Oh I’m so happy you posted this for everyone to see. I placed an order with them a few days ago and they delivered so quickly. I had an issue with one of the sketchbooks I bought and Bonnie was so helpful she sent me another one free of charge :)
A place where i can buy Etchr! I didn't realise Kyneton had an art store. must make a day trip up there, thanks for the tip. By the way, have you ever visited the art shops in Geelong? We have quite a few. My favourite is Cavalier Art Supplies. It's a bit tricky to find... you best access it from the Ryrie Street Carpark as it faces out towards Little Ryrie Street. There is also Geelong Art Supplies on Ryrie street as well as Art Worx. Our Office Works has the biggest range of art supplies I have ever seen in an Office works and is particularly good for many professional coloured pencils. We also have Riot Art and Kaiser Craft for lower budget stuff. All in Geelong City!
I was happy to find the Etchr products there! The store moved to Kyneton from Sunbury at the start of this year I think. I have indeed visited Geelong art stores, a few years ago now. Next time I head that way I am sure I'll end up going back to at least one of them, lol.
We are quite spoiled in Melbourne as there are actually a few really good art shops....but I did really love the styling in The Alchemist, and also their range of products. ❤
What a great place! In England, if you want to have a choice in art material and in person, there is only in London. Jackson's and Atlantis Art. And going to London if you're living elsewhere is not cheap, as it usually involve a train. Also, there is another heatwave at the moment. It was really nice to see Australia so green and cool. I'm curious of the two ink pens and how they get their ink. have a great week, Becky. See you later.
We caught the train from Milton Keynes to London in 2017 and it cost a hefty amount, so I can believe that! Annoyingly I was only just starting to get interested in art at that time and so I didn't think or know to visit any art stores then, doh!
Thank you, Bonnie, for allowing Becky to give us a peek at your store! If you see this, you have a lovely store and great offerings. I want all the things. Thanks for the video, Becky. I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better. Perhaps you can make some postcards and have a giveaway **hint**hint**wink**wink** 😉
Bonnie saw the video and is happy with it, yay! 😁 Haha yes I need to plan another giveaway or something or at least get myself organised to post up some of my art for sale (prints, originals etc). It has been on the backburner this past month or so. 😬
That Art Toolkit palette looks like it is using the metal pans that go into eyeshadow palettes. I have a bunch of those from when I used to dabble in making cosmetics. I would think they are prone to rusting. Will be interesting to see how they fare over time.
Yes they look very similar don't they! These feel like they might be stainless steel and they have held up well so far, with no signs of rust - I have used my larger version a lot and it's all good. Had that one since May.
The metal pans in my Art Toolkit did rust, but so far, only with my White Nights watercolours. They tend to be a little bit sticky. I replaced the metal pans with plastic ones which fit perfectly, that I found on Etsy. So far the metal pans with Windsor and Newton Cotman colours in my other art tool kit are fine.
Lucky, Lucky you!! What an amazing shop! The best I have here in North Wales is a shop called Hobbycraft and it's not that good to be honest lol it sells more craft stuff than art stuff, we have another shop called The Range but you'll find no professional art supplies in there, I have to order online for anything like that, but I'd love a shop like that here, I could spend hours and plenty of $$$ in there! Fantastic Video and I'm so happy to hear your lovely Dad is so much better now! :D
Ah yes, crafty shops tend not to carry the high end art brands; we have stores like that here too. I was really happy to visit this shop, it's so gorgeous!
Wow what a gorgeous store...love the asthethics and colors within the store....i enjoyed walk thru of store and this video glad your dad is doing better....mikelle art mom🎨✍👩🎨
Wow my family lives quite close to Kyneton so I drive around there all the time I never knew they had such an impressive art store, I'll have to check it out next time I'm passing through. Bendigo is our closest town so I always went to the art store there and it never really carried much stock in mediums and brands I was interested in. I live in Melbourne now so I have much more options, but it's cool that a country town has such an impressive range.
OMG I did not know about this store. I have been to Kyneton heaps of times and never saw this shop....I am slipping lol...Has been a few years since I lived that side of Melbourne though. What is the other place to get sennilier paints I am looking for the 12 plus 6 set. I looked at m usual art shop website and did not see them....Otherwise I may have to visit Kyneton ...well i probarly will anyway at some point lol....Thank you for showing this amazing looking store...Bonnie if our reading the comments your on my to do list...even though I live in far East Gippsland. Cheers Becky.
The Alchemist used to be located in Sunbury, and I think they moved to Kyneton...I want to say last year? Maybe even early 2022. It hasn't been very long anyway. I didn't even manage to get to Sunbury, lol. But apparently their new store is at least twice as large as the old one, so if you make it over that way, they are well worth a visit!
@@BeckyTregear Oh I will be going as soon as I can get some time off work, wild horse can"t keep me away. Art shop or a book shop and I"m on it lol. Thanks for showing the store I love it already.
I'm chuffed to hear that your father is well enough for you to return home, Becky! How has Gandalf coped with being at home again? Thanks for sharing that art shop tour with us! Oh, my word - no - no words ... This art-shop deprived artist is just really glad that you've found an amazing store which you can visit easily from your father's home. All that Sennelier stuff made my eyes and mouth water - especially the pastel display!!!! And all the FC pencils in reality, to choose from!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing just how much paint that tiny palette will hold, and your thoughts and comments on your other purchases when you're all back to normal again. 😊
Thank you! I am very glad I finally managed to visit this store; it has been in my To Visit List for ages. It didn't disappoint! Cats settled in back home pretty much straight away. Gandalf had no issues whatsoever, but poor little Trixie had a bit of an "accident" in her cage on the drive home, and I didn't realise until we got back, when I saw her fur was all damp (as were the towels!). But she bounced back and we are all well and truly settled back in. I was exhausted the first couple of days - mentally and emotionally wrung out. But I'm ok again now. ❤
Thank you so much! I had such a great time visiting the store, and ticking it off my To Visit list. I will definitely go there again if and when I'm back out that way.
Oh, so many happy things. I would LOVE to have an art store like that local to me - except it would probably be quite dangerous! That Demi-Palette is adorable.
Glad your Dad is progressing well enough for you to return home. Fun fieldtrip - I hope that having such an amazing shop as that one in a small town indicates that there are many artists in the area. You did a great job of filming all the lovely art supplies. Looking forward to your videos using your selections
The shop was on the outskirts of Melbourne, but I think it will do better in Kyneton because there are a lot of surrounding towns and the whole area is quite touristy - a lot of Melbournians visit during weekends etc.
That is a first class art store! I would spend way too much money in there - good thing it is thousands of miles from me 😂! I have a collection of the Art Toolkit palettes with all their various pan options. I love them and their new larger Folio palette is my favorite one. You might consider using an eye dropper or blunt tip syringe to fill your pens as it eliminates a lot of mess and the likelihood of staining your pen or hands with unwanted ink (just lower the piston before filling). Thank you for showing us this beautiful art supply store. Stores like these are becoming more and more rare these days.
It was really awesome, I am so glad we managed to get there! And yes we spent more than anticipated, lol. I will definitely consider an eye dropper when filling them - I have my dropper from the Moonman fountain pen which is designed for that very task. I always find trying to suck ink up with a piston ends up making a gigantic mess everywhere, lol! Also, the Folio size palette was very difficult to pass up, but I will probably end up with it down the track sometime. Great size!
There is nothing like a really beautiful art shop for enabling your habit! I love Sennelier products, and am a great fan of fountain pens too. That’s an old habit, I really like the ArtPen ones, and have a rare pink original. The ECHR ones look very much like the Sailor pens but have the advantage of being able to fill the barrel. What a nice haul! Your walk around reminded me I have a whole load of golden open, and another lot of W& Newton. Plus a great set of oils too. I really need to get painting, but it has been a very hot summer in the U.K., unusually, and I have been indulging in my other obsession, gardening. The cool look of the countryside as you travelled made me a little nostalgic actually, we have had whole summers that looked like that. Not this year, we have brown lawns and many months of drought. Did we swop our weather for yours! Enjoy your new purchases, particularly interested to see how you go with the 50% cotton, as I have been looking at a similar one by Fabriano as for some reason the leading brand of 100% just does not work for me, I just find it frustrating…
It really sounds you're having an Aussie-style summer over there! And by contrast the summer we had here was much wetter than usual. Stupid weather! I enjoyed visiting this store very much and yes, a great way to buy more things, lol. I will be curious to see what that half cotton paper is like too, because usually I use 100%. Worth a try, for sure!
Oh, what a beautiful shop! I would love to go there. Interesting that they stock the Art Toolkit things and even the Etchr items. There is nothing like this here in Queensland. I have the Demi palette as well and love it. The postcards are very good. Unfortunately I don't use them often. What did I think when I ordered them. I don't send postcards to anybody. 😄
Haha neither do I! I just thought they might be night to do small original paintings on, to sell eventually. Victoria is doing well for art shops at the moment! 😊
Yes, a lot of businesses went under, though it seems like most art stores in my area managed to survive which is so great! I think having a good online store as well as the physical shop is what got them through.
That art shop is INCREDIBLE! I am so jealous, I wish we had shops like this near where I live. When I was a teenager we had a few but they all went out of business in the early days of the internet... it makes me so happy to know there are still places with all the tubes of paint and every colored pencil in their own little display! And how cool with the Etchr Lab fountain pens, I didn't realize they'd branched out into pen making. I'd be curious what you think of them and the other items once you've had a chance to test them out. 🙂
I think the key is to have a good website for selling art supplies online as well as a physical store! I'm curious to try the pens out too; they look well built so hopefully the ink runs smoothly. 😊
Wonderful tour! You did a superb job panning through the store, allowing plenty of time so we could get a great look at all the glorious supplies! Thank you for sharing this with us!
It's definitely one to visit! I have stores I want to visit on the other side of the world too - Sennelier and Charvin in Paris would probably be top of the list!
I would’ve caused some major damage to my bank account at that store🥴 it’s the most beautiful art shop I’ve ever seen! All of those etchr pads, ahh! A lot of that stuff is definitely out of my comfort zone, like the glass+tubes for mixing your own binder and pigment and all of those natural powder looking things, but I think I’d have a fun time looking anyways! The Sennelier book👀 I’m curious what you’ll think of that etchr pad! I did like it even though it’s not 100% cotton
It's a really gorgeous store; I love antique furniture and apothecary looking things! I have tried making my own watercolours; it was a huge mess, lol! But I want to try again, so I will have to dig out the muller and pigments etc to have another go. Hopefully I'll get to test out all of my papers soon! ❤
What a fabulous shop! I better not go to their website right now- all the things! 😁 I'm glad your father is doing well 😊❤️ well done for keeping the videos going during that time too!
Being in the shop with everything in front of me was even more dangerous, haha! Yeah I'm a bit tired from maintaining my work schedule, but it also kept me sane, and I am in a good place right now with views so I don't want to lose it all! Gotta do the grind sometimes.
I think Art Toolkit is American, but weirdly enough the most stores that stock them are in Australia! However, I did some searching and there is a store in Spain called Artemiranda who stocks them too, and they ship worldwide according to their site, including Finland. I hope that might be helpful!
2:55 Sooooo envious........I’ve wanted one of those Etchr palettes for 2 years but I refused to pay shipping to NZ when it’s already spendy with our 💩 exchange rate....and you have them just there! 😝 Love art shops but we don’t have any near me, so TFS! Glad to hear Dad is on the mend! 3:26 Danny looking SCHMEXY! 🥵🥵🥵😂😂😂 16:48 I didn’t know about them, but ofc, I want those purdy new FPs now too......
i am both so sad and so glad that i live on the other side of the world to this shop, i would absolutely not be able to resist anything in here! 😂 even the name of the shop is perfect!
We've had a lot of crazy rain storms and their store was recently badly damaged with water rushing in through the ceiling! I think they've managed to repair most of it now, but lots of the stock got ruined, like the soft pastels and beautiful sheets of paper. 😭
This is lovely haul I havnt done one in a while I also do loads of colouring as a hobby I am eventually moving on to other artsy hobbies which is excited about 😊
i totally agree !!! i hate online shopping ! you Dont get the excitement when your in the store , might see something u need but u forgot , and u dont see that online .
Haha sorry about that! Yes, we do drive on the opposite side, and it makes you feel any better I always get freaked out being in countries which drive on the same side as the USA. It takes AGES to get used to! 😂
I have watched this video before but decided to watch it again. I am surprised how great this store is. I wouldn't expect that in a country town, considering they seem to have much higher quality products than a lot of the stores in Melbourne. I would love to go, but its a little too far. I don't even go to the closer ones :-P I have been to Art Shed a few times and the Art Shop once. I was considering going back to the Art Shop, since they do have a lot of the products I don't see elsewhere too, but I ended up just buying things online. Did you ever try the stone sketchbooks? I have one, but they don't take wet media, which was what I wanted it for. I actually had bought it for alcohol markers, but they need an absorbent paper and my Inktense pencils had the same issues. They are good for paints though and can take some layers of pencil.
I love going into physical stores, more than buying online although I'll do that as well, lol. I haven't tried stone paper - the books I've seen have always been super expensive and I can't really justify it. You'll have to do a review on your channel so I can see what the paper's like, heheh!
It's mandatory that it be foggy when you visit the alchemist! What a lovely shop. The wooden furniture had me drooling. Looking forward to some great videos.
Perfect weather for it! I want some of those cabinets for my studio, haha!
i wish there was something like this in America.
Paradise!

Wow, that's awesome customer service! The Alchemist is a real gem of a store, and Bonnie is so nice.
What a wonderful store! I could spend hours (and lots of money!) in there… thank you for taking us on a tour…. Glad to hear your dad is better…
I had a great time browsing all of the shelves...it's a lovely store, this one!
Ah! Art store envy! Thanks for taking us along with you. 😎
It's a particularly nice art store too, with all of its pretty furniture. I am so glad they let me film!

That Art Toolkit palette looks like it is using the metal pans that go into eyeshadow palettes. I have a bunch of those from when I used to dabble in making cosmetics. I would think they are prone to rusting. Will be interesting to see how they fare over time.

Wow beautiful shop!
I love the Art Store. I have an order on my table that arrived on Friday from them. Thanks for the tour, I have ideas for my next purchase!
Oh nice! I hope I can visit this store again one day - it's a little far but worth a look for sure!
Very cool shop.
What a beautiful shop, thank you for sharing 😊
I am glad I finally got to visit it! 😊
You found heaven. 😍
this is my idea of how heaven would look!!!!!!.
I love love this video! What a wonderful art store!! I would love to go there! Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm glad you enjoyed watching, and it really is a gorgeously appointed art shop!
I grewn up in near Kyneton
That tiny palette would be perfect to my journal kit. Hope those came some times selling in finland.
I think Art Toolkit is American, but weirdly enough the most stores that stock them are in Australia! However, I did some searching and there is a store in Spain called Artemiranda who stocks them too, and they ship worldwide according to their site, including Finland. I hope that might be helpful!
@@BeckyTregear thank you so much need to look up that☺️
never knew this was here! thanks for sharing!
It used to be in Sunbury, and they moved early this year I think.
If it helps, I'd love to visit Jerry's Arterama, Blick's, Michaels, Hobby Lobby....😂
I'm always weak for an Art shop and Stationary store.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Me too! 😂
16:48 I didn’t know about them, but ofc, I want those purdy new FPs now too......
Hi Kaz, I can't do much about the exchange rate, but The Alchemist offers free shipping on orders over $100 to Australia AND New Zealand!
@@BonHanlon Ahhh, an enabler..... I love you! 😘😂😂😂
Hahaha! 😂😂 Oooh free shipping, that's good to know! My Etchr Palette needs to be reinstated into one of my bags I think.
Wow wow I just dW the rest if the video nd the sennelier range wow ..and the ..and the and hahahaa I could go on for hours tha k you so much .
i am both so sad and so glad that i live on the other side of the world to this shop, i would absolutely not be able to resist anything in here!
This is lovely haul I havnt done one in a while I also do loads of colouring as a hobby I am eventually moving on to other artsy hobbies which is excited about 😊
I tend to move about from colouring to painting to drawing to crafts to colouring to painting....etc etc 😂
i totally agree !!! i hate online shopping ! you Dont get the excitement when your in the store , might see something u need but u forgot , and u dont see that online .
That's so true! ❤
love raphael brushes.
Me too!
rather well stocked shop. I'd go bankropt in such a store.
I nearly did, haha! 😂
I'm from the United States and when you turned right at 0:47 I thought you were turning into oncoming traffic and had a minor panic attack LOL
Haha sorry about that! Yes, we do drive on the opposite side, and it makes you feel any better I always get freaked out being in countries which drive on the same side as the USA. It takes AGES to get used to! 😂
beautiful Shop 🙂
It really is!❤
Curious about those beautiful fountain pens!!
I will test them soon hopefully!
I WANT IT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fabulous store, great video - but the big question is how much did you buy? 😊
More $$ than I should have...😬
@@BeckyTregear 😎🤘🏻🤣
That store has so many harder to see in person things!
It was awesome to see all of the Etchr products and it really helped me decide on what items I may or may not want to get in the future. 🙂
This is like artist’s porn , so many beautiful things and colors and Isabey has nice watercolor brushes. I own one and I love it.
Haha, it is! Maybe I will look into getting an Isabay brush at some stage; they look lovely!
😍😍😍

i miss proper art stores, they just have a certain smell to them
The Smell of Potential Creation! 😂
