Half Life 2 succeeds so well in making you feel like a badass with its perfect musical timing. One of my favourite parts of Half Life is the music alone mixed with the fighting.
My favourite track in any Half-Life game. Sector Sweep is just amazing. Equal parts upbeat and adventurous, intense and foreboding. I especially like how it retains the characteristic synths used in countless other tracks in the HL2 games, but also melds it with a more drum-heavy beat characteristic of the Episode 2 score. Also helps that the gameplay in this sequence is really well designed as well. A Hollywood-esque chase scene that is strictly linear but still feels like the world is reacting to your actions.
@@Sexy_Nutella oh really? cuz i really dont know why crowbar collective buff the AI and damage of that bastards whenever they can(especially the shootgunners , damn I HATE THOSE) , they dont turn the game more fun , just more frustrating , is my opinion.
This is my all time favorite moment in the game. The music is absolutely fantastic for a run-and-gun chase sequence. You truly feel like you're running for your life when Sector Sweep begins to play and the chopper flies overhead. I'm always bummed that it's also one of the shortest sequences.
Love this sequence too. It's intense but also strangely adventurous and light hearted. I'd say Episode 2's OST always had an element of hope in it that I really dug
Sector Sweep is by far my all time favorite half life soundtrack, as a car enthusiast i can say the music perfectly matched this epic chase, you in a classic big old V8 muscle car and the combine technology chopper chasing and firing at you, determined to terminate you and Alyx at all costs. This scene along with the music was epic, just like episode 2 alone imo.
That Charger '69 was such a nice touch, even if I also enjoyed the buggy in HL2. Driving through the whole dlc a mad max version of my favorite car was really perfect
@@Sexy_Nutellaone time in nova prospekt i perfectly alligned a shot's trajectory with the path of a running soldier. it was great but i didn't record it
Damn the video is perfect, the skill, the smoothness that you put in it, the kinda rp (with nodding your cam and zooming and stuff), and of course the game by itself and its musics... Truely a cinematic experience. Thank you mate
they dont play test games in person anymore so you cant get the live feedback of playtesters and also the fact that most people play video games makes it hard to find playtesters who dont know the brand to give feedback like they used to. valve really screwed up letting the game not have a 3rd installment for so long. lets hope halflife 3 goes back to it roots and delivers a product that at the very least it is polished.
Ahhahahah, yes i noticed you nodded a couple of times at Alyx` proposal at the end of this video. It was really cool =)) P.S. And i really happy this magnificient game is still being passed through today. HL and HL2 are definitely timeless ones.
I just did the Gnome Achievement a few days ago, and I will say this. This part here, is the WORST part of the achievement. The damn gnome kept falling out of my car. When I tried to put the gnome back into the car, the gnome either ends up falling or gets shot by the helicopter. Then I started to question why Alyx can’t hold my gnome. (After some time, I started to wish that the gnome would get hit by some meteor.) Other than the complaint, this is one of the best maps in the entire series. Not only is the chase part good, but the music is superb. Kelly Bailey is what makes half life even more special. You seriously can’t play a game without music.
I mean people love importing old shit from America to here, but if I had to guess it probably was in a museum and after 7 hour war it just was put into a garage or some shit idk
I loved seeing the Hunter Chopper return in this chapter after making zero appearances in the entire HL2 series since the end of Water Hazard and Black Mesa East. I wonder if Valve just remembered “oh wait a minute the Combine has helicopters” during development.
Playing on this part for the first time while also doing the gnome achievement on my first playtrought was the most fun and anxiety inducing time i ever had in half life 2
i think the rebels that died in front of the combine monitor are trying to capture the advisor and they did it, but also pay with price of their lives. But gordon and alyx open the advisor capsule and free the advisor, i think alyx and gordon shouldn't open the advisor capsule. that'll save her father. No wonder g-man asking to gordon keep an eye on her, and tell the alyx to warn her father to prepare the unforeseen consequence.
Like says I just killed soldier and sweeped I know alyx health and driving control on phone need lot of experience I think combine got mad they killed alyx right when I get of the car
"Sector Sweep" is an awesome track, but it doesn't really fit the scene. "Self-Destruction" from Episode 1 fits way better, especially for just the chase sequence alone. Also try splicing Brad Fiedel's "Tunnel Chase" theme from 'The Terminator' into that chase sequence. It fits perfectly. There are also themes from Carmageddon, Destruction Derby 2, Darius Twin, Rolling Thunder 3, and the Sega CD version of Silpheed that all work just as well.
I actually really like Sector Sweep here, I personally think Self Destruction would've been too claustrophobic for the open environments of Episode Two. Will have to give those other tracks a shot sometime!

Agreed. Half-Life has killer music
"Take it down!"
*dies immediately*
Typical rebels xD
*Combine moment*
Whats funnier is that valve intended for him to die immediately, cause I kinda expected him to go somewhere else if he lives
the average human intellect has dwindled down since the combine's invasion
Came here for the music, stayed for the skill. Thanks for this clip, mate!
No problem at all :) thanks for the comment

I prefer "what kind of Hospital is this" .The músic , the shotguns , all those zombies and soldiers , its you too epic.
Episodes’ musics are full of bangers:
What Kind of Hospital is This?, Vortal Combat, Hunting Party, Sector Sweep, Last Legs etc.
i need your opinion , wich is more difficult to combat, hecu soldiers from black mesa (the remake , not the original) or the combine soldiers .
Definitely Black Mesa HECU soldiers, those guys are tough to fight. I think they got harder in the 1.0 release too.

Leading and hitting crossbow shots always feels amazing :)

1:01 you shot him the exact moment the song picked up lol
Yup. Planned that, alongside other key moments like when the advisor theme creeps when the Hunter-Chopper appears (2:18)

Alyx : Thanking God that Gordon is safe...
Gordon at this moment: RELOADING HIS GUN! 🤣
Haha, I always thought Gordon was more of a realist, definitely focused on the objective at hand.
Fantastic gameplay i honestly have nothing to say
Thanks! Glad you like it :)
I wish there was a behind the scene on how sector sweep music was made
Same! Would be very interesting to hear Kelly Bailey walk through the track
Lore accurate freeman:
This level would be more badass if there was Combine APCs chasing you.
Probably would be hella tough to design around. But man that'd be awesome.
I'd imagine something like that in epistle 3
GTA: Half-Life
the soundtrack along with the level was etched in my brain ever since, they just dont make em like this anymore
They really don't - the Half Life series is just chalk-full of great moments like this

Get this man to play for E3 trailers
1:08 that was trick!
Landing crossbow shots like those ones are always so satisfying!
Great gameplay.
I never understood why the music stops at parts like 3:16.
I assume it has to do with loading areas.
Yeah, unfortunately a byproduct of source game loading screens
2:15 where did truck came from?
It's a bug in the game that has never been fixed by Valve haha
I need to see this music over one of those “stop watching this brother!” Memes
lmao!
Combine: who is the target?
*music starts*
imagine a full path traced source engine2 remake of half life2 or even half life3...
damn
That'd be something. Perhaps one day!
I always wondered how a vintage american dodge charger made it's way to eastern europe lol
I mean people love importing old shit from America to here, but if I had to guess it probably was in a museum and after 7 hour war it just was put into a garage or some shit idk
Questionable ethics 1 would fit great here
also the crossbow in this game is so fun. It’s so satisfying to hear that “Thunk”

gotta love the iconic disappearing apc in this level lol
best part of the game right here

3:33 I never noticed that animation of Alyx's reaction lol
You can actually hear Shu'oulithoi when approaching the advisor mixed in with Sector Sweep around the 2:20 mark.
IF YOU ARE ON PC YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS VIDEO WHILE FREE BIRD SOLO IS PLAYING, IT MAKES YOU SHIVER
This is the worst section in the game for the gnome
the helicopter is actually impossible to kill until you make it to the end part.
Episode 2 was half life at is very best shame it took them so long to make a new game
Agreed, the Half-Life formula was nailed in this game.

The good ole Orange Box days :)
Very disappointed that the soundtrack cuts out before the next loading point. Would've been cool to fight the chopper to this track at least.
