i've literally held my breath for a good half of the video, amazing work, as always! You should look into making those scenes into the series of VR experiences!
Seeing the combine march from the bridge from playing EP2 back then felt so visually appealing to me; I even tried to recreate the scene in Gmod once Seeing this brings back that nostalgia.
You had me at "All autonamous units". How well made this S2FM vid is, how it encapsulates the desperate regrouping of the combine forces after the destruction of the citadel. If there was one thing that could heighten my love for HL2 lore - it was the announcer, that constant reminder to the player that they were hunted and in your progression how the severity of your "sentence" would increase. I remember hearing at one point the announcer ending their announcement to civil protection teams with "Duty. Sword. Midnight" and theirs me thinking "oh fuck, now I'm in trouble".
What I like about how the Combine is portrayed is that they're basically inscrutable because their size and nature of their existence renders our attempts to conceptualize them fully almost impossible. They are as fundamentally inhuman as you can make an organization, devoted as they are to literally suffocating any form of rebellion to the nature of their existence, whether they be willed resistance or basic biological feature that they cannot control. They are monolithic, but because this game focuses on a narrative involving them we see them as the 'enemy', but what we can visualize is just miniscule compared to what they are both on a molecular and quantum level. The scale is absurd. That's of course what makes the fact humanity has a leg up on them in the form of localized teleportation so interesting- this technological discrepancy is enough to make us, this practically moribund and pitifully small existence, an 'uncontrollable' to them. I find it very cool.
I wholeheartedly look forward to the short film about Elden Ring from you. The Dark Souls series came out just fine. I wish you strength, patience and inspiration.
A sight that is beautiful and bleak all at once. Humans and aliens marching side by side... as a slave army in the service of an unseen master race whose existence is, has been, and probably always will be, totally unknown to the Universe.
I get chills every time I watch this video, if half Life ever becomes a movie, the creative team must watch your work to get a feel for the atmosphere.
The Overwatch and Metrocops March together on a singular road. With the companionship of Striders and their construction counterparts. As they March orderly through to claim what was left. All that’s left is just a split Empire, waiting to crumble.
I find it funny that despite how advanced the Combine are, their best method of transporting something as high-value as an advisor pod is by attaching it to two APCs with some wires and towing it. I understand they're kinda scrambling any available resource at this point in the game, but why couldn't they just have a dropship carry it? Seems like it'd be more efficient.
I'd say it was purely done this way so that the player could take a good look at the pods. Plus they are kinda huge and a dropship's carrying arms might not be able to hook under it. On the other hand the pods can fly so who knows.
Im staring at this 1:37 minutes, nothing particular is happening but cant remember if i even breathe... Im kinda feel this game, strange feeling but I LOVE IT :D
Truly a fantastic rendition of this scene. Amazing visuals my man. You are single handedly making a graphical remaster of this universe look like something we desperately need, and the old games graphics still have a remarkable amount of charm even today. Your vids are just that good!
People say that the Construction Strider is coming from the fact that the combine are scrambling to destroy White Forest and Gordon with everything they have, but I believe they just need it so they can build small bases along the way
Even when the combine are separated from there original dimention/overworld and a considerable amount of military lost they still poses enough military force to put humanity back to it's knees
@@GREENCUBE880 fr it would be like 1,000,000,000 against 1, since theres an estimated around 1billions humans left and seeing how scattered the combine are they would be overrun and destroyed.
Story of the Combine post ep1: The Overwatch cut off from the Universal Union now pull together their forces for one last hail mary to reestablish control over their colony, you need to stop them
"All autonomous units: accept mandatory sector assimilation" always stood out to me. Makes me think that the advisors don't have complete control of the Overwatch soldiers. Could it be due to the Citadel getting destroyed?
"Autonomous Units" could be in reference to Combine troops garrisoned on the frontier, far away from the cities and Combine strongholds. It's possible that Overwatch lost communication with these units after the Citadel was destroyed, leaving them to remain at their posts on standby. Now that they are desperate, the Combine are trying to gather as many troops as possible, even the smaller units out in the middle of nowhere.
@@coltpiecemaker the overwatch AI went down (or at least a major chunk of it went down) with the Citade. they probably have lost at least half of thier communication system if not all of it infact it was broken enough the reble was able to hack into the city borad cast system and play dr Kliner half life episode 1 review in loops.

Another wave of combine troops is coming.. and humanity won't last long..
another amazing sfm my man! fantastic work!
I love the little detail of the wind being directed away from the Citadel blast in City 17
Just image you go hiking in the forests and then you see this... Great Job this was one of my favourite scenes in Episode 2!
I love the detail of how soldiers don't have the same walking animation, kust like how they explained in the developer commentary of the origi.al game, once again AMAZING work.
This legit sent thousands of shivers down my spine, Jesus Crist what a masterpiece.
coming back to this again bc it is just chilling yet so beautiful. stuff like this is what heightens Half-Life
I love the windstorm, makes it feel like it's being caused by the portal vortex. It also made me realize plants and trees are completely static in episode 2 😆
I love how clinical and inhuman they write the Overwatch AI. It can't just tell the soldiers to regroup, it calls out 'AUTONOMOUS UNITS SUBMIT AND BE SUBSUMED'
if the Combine had any humanity left I'm sure they would be dreading lines like that
Goddamn. If there's anything that gets me rock solid these days, it's content like this. Half Life 2: EP2 rises from the ashes like a phoenix with that source 2 engine. Great work!
One of my all time favorite scenes in HL. So atmospheric. I would be so scary be there watching and listening to all of this..you can feel the wind and the atmosphere just by watching this video with headphones...so damm well done. Fantastic atmosphere.
iy was an awesome surprise to see this in my feed, amazing work as always!
Wish there was an hour long version of this. It's an amazing video and I actually find myself listening to this regularly too! Fantastic work!
The citadel may have been destroyed, but there is still a massive force of combine on Earth; Gordon still has his work cut out for him. This is so beautiful, and captures the scope of the combine forces well!
Jesus, this guy just destroys in S2FM such amazing animations.
loving the potential of s2fm so far
Шикарная атмосфера, просто великолепно!
Your cinematic work is unparalleled. The lighting, camera angle, and slightly subdued colors make it feel like a legit movie scene.
The combine are one of my favorite evil empires of anything. Like, even with their headquarters on Earth completely annihilated, they STILL coordinate and counterattack. Because they're advised by an interdimensional empire. Shits crazy, man.
Same! they're my favorite enemy faction from any video game series followed by the Reapers from Mass Effect
fucking awesome. Insane graphics and physics, combine animations and the vehicles were awesome. And the Construction strider along with Unarmed transport vehicles showed that the combine has low resources and is using whatever they got left. Awesome detail on how the Hunter chopper leaves after Overwatch announces that they're engaging with Gordon and Alyx, That Hunter chopper is probably the One we fought.
RUS:Парень это Гениально выше всяких похвал ,с удовольствием пересматриваю ,анимация на высоком уровне ,видно внимание к деталям, работа со светом, звуковое сопровождение , я аплодируют стоя😁👏
ENG:This guy is Brilliant beyond praise, I'm happy to review it, the animation is at a high level, you can see the attention to detail, work with light, soundtrack, I applaud standing😁👏
Совершенно с тобой согласен
Согласен!
Какая анимация, это недавно снято, я сам недавно оттуда еле ноги унес
A все начиналось с мода на Квейк.
@@ЯрославЖелезнов-р8л типичные леса Кавказа
For this level of excellent animation, you deserve so much more recognition than what you've been getting! Keep up the amazing work, dude.
Incredible work as always! Some of the highest levels of realism I've seen in any Half-Life related content. Are those trees hand animated?
Thank you! Oh no, haha. There's a handy little wind control that can be assigned to cameras in SFM. It affects everything that can react with wind and the swaying is generated procedurally.
@@TheParryGod
That's really impressive for built in wind controller Jeeeez..... No need to talk about how inhuman your work is on top of that
i've literally held my breath for a good half of the video, amazing work, as always!
You should look into making those scenes into the series of VR experiences!
Beautiful, great job! This would be an awesome wallpaper in Wallpaper Engine!
Amazing. This type of atmosphere’s what got me into map making in Source, and you are bringing new life to it in 2022. Keep at it!
OMG YOU DID IT! YOU MAGNIFICANT GUY!
Yet another legendary S2FM I love seeing these cutscenes with these graphics it looks so bloody good! Good job!
Ur work is fantastic! A longer movie with a great story in the hl2 setting would be amazing, keep goin. Love ur work
Every video you put out feels like a scene straight out of a movie. The atmosphere is tangible.
just realized how much of a opportunity the resistance lost in placing some strategic c4 in that bridge structure
This was perfect timing since I woke up exactly when you uploaded this. I was not disappointed.
I loved the voice filter for the Combine Overwatch here, I hope they use it again whenever they release the continuation.
This looks incredible!! I always look forwards to your animations, even the small ones, they're just so good!!
Seeing the combine march from the bridge from playing EP2 back then felt so visually appealing to me; I even tried to recreate the scene in Gmod once
Seeing this brings back that nostalgia.
I always loved this scene because it reminds you that, even at their weakest, the combine is *enormous.*
You can really here the GLaDOS in Overwatch's voice in this scene, which makes sense considering it's the same voice actor
Crazy how Combine is using human's highway to transport all of their army
С каждым разом всё лучше и лучше! Наивысший уровень качества!
wow, just wow, we need more of this because this is an absolute work of art!
I wholeheartedly look forward to the short film about Elden Ring from you. The Dark Souls series came out just fine. I wish you strength, patience and inspiration.
Thank you for the kind words, and I'm sorry to disappoint but it's more than likely not going to happen.
@@TheParryGod A little pity about this, but thanks for the answer)
This is amazing as per usual! ParryGod never disappoints.
A sight that is beautiful and bleak all at once. Humans and aliens marching side by side... as a slave army in the service of an unseen master race whose existence is, has been, and probably always will be, totally unknown to the Universe.
I've watched you for a while now,
You've earned a sub, amazing work.
I get chills every time I watch this video, if half Life ever becomes a movie, the creative team must watch your work to get a feel for the atmosphere.
How about a tv series ? It could explore much more of the half life universe
I love the detail that the more armored strider seems to have less agility due to its augmentations but also as a result seems to step much harder.
Think it's a construction-strider. Just missing the platform on it's head.
The Overwatch and Metrocops March together on a singular road. With the companionship of Striders and their construction counterparts. As they March orderly through to claim what was left. All that’s left is just a split Empire, waiting to crumble.
inhuman accuracy!
Thank you this is what I’m looking for and take forever for ages and years to find! UwU
wow, were there that many Combine units in the original scene?
awesome work! it does look like a remake Valve itself would have made
One of the highest quality sfm out there. Love your work so much!
I have literally chills down my spine just like the first time I saw it in-game.
*But 10 times stronger!*
Incredible job. My favorite sci-fi invasion story and I got to relive a classic vista thanks to you!
This is like when you play an RTS and send your entire army back to base at once because someone has snuck round the back.
I stood in awe when I first saw this in the game. It was genuinely scary to me as a kid. Amazing recreation!
This is awesome It would be a great on the Half-Life 2: Episode Two menu
Its always worth it watching your videos so early
I find it funny that despite how advanced the Combine are, their best method of transporting something as high-value as an advisor pod is by attaching it to two APCs with some wires and towing it. I understand they're kinda scrambling any available resource at this point in the game, but why couldn't they just have a dropship carry it? Seems like it'd be more efficient.
I'd say it was purely done this way so that the player could take a good look at the pods. Plus they are kinda huge and a dropship's carrying arms might not be able to hook under it. On the other hand the pods can fly so who knows.
Burns more fuel and would put more stress on it, and given their situation, they need everything they got.
absolutely wonderful... i have chills reviving this moment
Im staring at this 1:37 minutes, nothing particular is happening but cant remember if i even breathe... Im kinda feel this game, strange feeling but I LOVE IT :D
This is weirdly calming. Perfect ASMR/relax video for any true Half Life fan. Great work, love it! :)
When i want this in half life 2 i thought there would be a tough and passionate war, but it wasn't that excited
Awesome!! I loved that moment so much, and you made it even better :D
Moving north with great purpose.
Truly a fantastic rendition of this scene. Amazing visuals my man. You are single handedly making a graphical remaster of this universe look like something we desperately need, and the old games graphics still have a remarkable amount of charm even today. Your vids are just that good!
People say that the Construction Strider is coming from the fact that the combine are scrambling to destroy White Forest and Gordon with everything they have, but I believe they just need it so they can build small bases along the way
yeeeeeeeesssss
You're animations are really stunning. I really like seeing your work pop up in my recommended !!
Even when the combine are separated from there original dimention/overworld and a considerable amount of military lost they still poses enough military force to put humanity back to it's knees
Just imagine the fear the combine will have once the other countries find out the portal has been destroyed
@@GREENCUBE880 fr it would be like 1,000,000,000 against 1, since theres an estimated around 1billions humans left and seeing how scattered the combine are they would be overrun and destroyed.
@@scottrosalejos8202 The Swelter mod does a great job at showing how the Combine-controlled cities begin to crumble
This looks incredible! The composition and fluidity of this shot is just breathtaking, keep up the awesome animation work!
Story of the Combine post ep1: The Overwatch cut off from the Universal Union now pull together their forces for one last hail mary to reestablish control over their colony, you need to stop them
A lot of work...! Good job, guys! Such a juicy and atmospheric result!
