You are so talented! I am really drawn to the hint of brown in the water, it gives the water life. You always add these touches I wouldnt think of. Happy New Year!
Question...I always thought the farther away something was the darker it usually is. Your river where it is the farthest away is lighter and you even blotted it with a tissue. Just wondering why? Thank you in advance Ellen.
@@SharonKHahn I guess that answers my question...thanks Sharon. I've only been painting water colors for a couple of months so any helpful tips are much appreciated!!
The mood you created with this paiinting took me back to winter afternoons and trips to the woods with a friend to skate at a hidden pond, moving to get home in the late afternoon sun, crossing a small stream (very carefully -- that water was cold!) as we went along. Great memory -- thank you!!
So beautiful!!, love the sweet blush look and combination with the blues and grays. A stunning painting for sure. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. ❤🥰
Love this painting! It’s one of my favorite. The coloring is beautiful. Blush, brown, grey, and blue. Soft and stone, all mixed together💗 I am going to attempt it😍
Ellen, watching you paint and listening to your explanations is my therapy!! I can lose myself in it and forget about my life and the world for a while! Thank you so much!
This painting really has depth with both the river and the trees leading you along a path deep into the scene. Loving the peachy sky and the dark cold water. Both chilling and soft. Thanks for this interesting color twist on a winter landscape. Beautiful and thankful for your sharing as always.
I had difficulty with this one. I love your channel and your painting style and you...lol! Would it be possible to have a small image of what the painting ends up looking like up in the corner while we paint?
Hola Ellen me llamo Amparo desde España. Hello Ellen, I started this year in the world of watercolor to cope with the pandemic, and thanks to some of you who post tutorials I have been able to find a hobby that distracts and relaxes me. Thanks for your videos I have learned a lot, I hope you are having a happy holidays and a happy new year.
Beautiful painting! It’s very pretty/romantic like you said. It was nice watching you paint without all the commercials!! Thank you so much for sharing Ellen! Happy New Years!!!😊💗🎊🥂🎉
Found your site just before Christmas. What a wonderful tutorial! Between kids and work I haven't painted in years. Your wonderful tutorials got me right back into wanting to pick up the brush everyday. Thank you!
Gosh Ellen, this is so pretty. Got me some Princeton brushes for Christmas and loving them so much. I’m glad you suggested them. Thank you for sharing this lovely river. Will give it a go. Blessings to you and yours in the new year.
Great painting and your instructions are great! I’ll have to try “romantically, blushing, sweet” painting techniques like you did here. Thank for sharing!
I think this is one of the prettiest things you’ve painted. I gotta try this. This is my fav technique. I notice when I paint something I’ve drawn my painting starts to get tedious and tight.
Another great landscape! Loving the colors you used in this❤️. Can’t wait to get started painting this one. Thanks so much, Ellen. Really look forward to your landscapes....they are my favorites❤️. ( I’ve painted several as Christmas gifts, and they loved them!!)
I want to ask everyone to give Ellen's Patreon membership a try. She puts out so many great videos here on TH-cam for us, that a few months ago I joined at the $3 level as a way to say "thanks!" (I think of it as giving her a couple sheets of watercolor paper, lol). With that you get the printable drawings to trace....but even if I don't trace them, it's handy to see a clear drawing to copy by hand. But in December, I really noticed how much MORE content she puts out here on TH-cam for us, more than most other watercolor channels I've seen, and I decided to move to her $6 Pateon tier. With that you can watch her videos WITHOUT ANY ADS, and I had no idea how helpful it would be to not have any ads until I tried it. You know how it is.....you're following along, doing well or maybe working on a tricky part, and then "BUY INSURANCE! ANNOYING MUSIC!" and it takes you out of the zone and you have to interrupt yourself to skip the ads, lol Without ads on Patreon, it feels like it's just you and Ellen, in private, in quiet, creating something nice. So Patreon is a way to say "thanks for all these tutorials!" and then as a bonus you get the traceables, ad-free videos, and at the highest tier you also get a free artwork of hers to print every month (or turn it into a coffee mug or something LOL) When you sign up, do so on or soon after January 1st (this friday) because Patreon accepts your fee on the day you sign up, and then the 1st of every month after that, for as long as you like. Happy New Watercolor Year, everyone!
I recently joined Ellen’s Patreon at the $6 tier and I love it ! So many good tutorials, Ellen you are so talented and such a great teacher, I have learned so much from you since I’ve been watching your tutorials.

Beautiful.. I had to change my sketch book cause it kept melting down .. my end result is not nearly as beautiful as yours .. however I’m 39 weeks pregnant and this it helped me focus and enjoy something other than googling how accurate is my due date every 5 minutes ..

I usually don't like (real or watercolor) snowy landscapes that much because they're cold but yours is warm, I like it a lot!
That is absolutely gorgeous!!! 💙💙💙
Super, j’adore
Amazing how you made the snow look thick n deep with the contrasting dark river

Gorgeous how to brought to life what was flat white paper to this beautiful 3D snowy River scene. Thank you, Ellen
This was beautiful and fun to do, though I found the river colours a bit tricky, but that will take practice
You really made this look easy!!!

Hi, Ellen…This painting is crazy beautiful, just love it.
Thank you so much!
Ellen, is it better to let the paint/paper air dry naturally than to use a heat tool?
Where do you get your ideas for these paintings? Books? Pinterest? Just wondering...they are so beautiful.
I love your videos and visited your etsy page. I'm curious as to how you make such good prints from your original work.
Hi do you have tips on still life some action! Birds in air? Windy? Like this?
This is basically all wet on dry, right? It's beautiful
happy new year 2021 to u all nice paintings
Thank you! You too!
Pretty...however why so many shades on the snow?
I dont have a majenta. What can I sub for that? I want to try this as soon as I'm able. It's truly lovely.
My biggest challenge is the river shape.
May I ask how you get your white to actually show up?.
Ellen uses white gouache paint.
@@SusanLS08 thank you very much. I have just started so that helps a lot.
Any chance of letting us know alternative colours if we don’t have the actual ones you use? Many thanks 👍😊
