      @@KardavoxAcademy I was hit-or-miss with the industrial elements at first, but now that my music tastes have diversified, I love the layered sound that AN has. It's pretty distinct, and that's something hard to attain in metal.

    Dave Hunt said in an interview for their recent release Endarkenment, that he has watched vocal coaches break down his singing, and they mention what techniques he uses to produce different growls. Dave has no idea of the techniques they describe, he just does what feels right.
    I love the Gabba style drum in this tune. Similar to Atari Teenage Riot.

  • @matthewgodding777
    @matthewgodding777 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    There's a decent live recording of forging towards the sunset by anaal, that shows how they split up those multilayered vocals live: would be cool to see you break that down, maybe in comparison to the studio version too, cos it's borderline note perfect and a decent recording (a festival i believe so pro shot). Plus it's a fucking tune.
    No one should get mad about the industrial references : it is. Their intent was to create an amalgamation of industrial, grindcore and black metal and just create the most visciously savage noise they could. Personally i reckon they succeeded in that.

    The band have posted that movie clip as an example of how to pronounce their name, and referenced that's where they got the name from.

    That industrial-esque pounding sounds like a pretty classic gabber kick; that is, a specific type of hardcore techno, that is quite fast (oldschool gabber is usually just shy of 200 bpm, but some derivatives and subvariants can go way faster - some to the point that it becomes comical - though slower variants also exist), is usually quite abrasive in sound, and it just has this long, distorted kickdrum... most basic approach to getting this kinda sound: take a drummachine like a TR-909 or similar (or synthesize a kick from scratch with whatever synth of your choice) and then distort the f**k out of that kick.
    Always thought that it sounds neat mixed with metal guitars (the extreme ends of electronic music and metal have sonically way more in common than some people of either camp care to admit) but it is also a headache and a half to get them to "play nice" together as they tend to fight each other for space in the mix.

    My man, I envy the journey you're about to take with discovering Anaal Nathrakh (Ahn-Ahl Nath-rack, in my experience).
    The distorted kicks may have been influenced by The Berzerker's distorted 808 sample, circa the album "Dissimulate".
    Check that one out for some industrial deathgrind.
    Love your stuff, brother. Keep it coming.

    Dave Hunt's vocal style is extremely cool. He's the only singer I know that can actually make you believe he's screaming so loud and painfully that he's ripping his whole throat into pieces. So fun to see you talk about Anaal Nathrakh!
    I've always wondered, how does he do the type of vocals that are in the verse at 11:00? It basically sounds like he's sliding between distorted false-chord and actual full-on screams (the bad kind, with full voice). Sounds very difficult and y'know, potentially dangerous.

  • @HumanoidMachine
    @HumanoidMachine 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, that electronic kick that they're using is basically just a distorted dance kick with a high gain. That sound is most often used in hardstyle and gabber music. It's easy to program your own but you can also find kicks exactly like that in sample libraries.

    You NEED to react/listen to Silent Planet. Either their new release Trilogy or maybe something like Panic Room. Their vocalist is pretty unique in my opinion, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
