I love Lancaster. Been going camping out there since I was 6 and now 37. It's only a hour away from Philadelphia and I now take my own children out there.

Willing to visit Lancaster PA this year. As Florida residents due to the past hurricanes home and car insurances keep going up out of control. We have some family in Lancaster and they love it. Bless you all.
Lancaster City is a special place and I'm grateful to have lived there from 2010-2012. It can be a rough city but I wouldn't take my time and how it was spent there back for the world. It truly is a living, breathing, insanely dense metropolis with infinite amount of diverse characters. It's like its own movie.
What makes it "rough"? I consider NYC "rough" also; very demanding in many ways that other normal-sized cities aren't. I am curious as to what you refer to.

I'm in love! W/Lancaster and a current resident from there and am SERIOUSLY thinking about making the move from Aurora, Oregon. I was 35% there before this video, I am 75% there. WOW, I could really see it being "MY LANCASTER" (SERIOUSLY). Great video, I must see/learn more.
I was born in OR. Please do NOT move to Lancaster. You will be so sorry! I just want to warn you so you don't make a big mistake. Read my other comment. It's a very depressing area with mean, nasty ppl, lots of drug related crime, high taxes, and no ocean nearby. It's very commercialized, industrialized and there are so many better places to move to. Try S. America, that's where I'm going. But I loved living in the Florida Keys for 20 years. I had a coworker there named Dustin who was born in OR like I was.

On my father's side of the family is a small town called Lancaster in northwestern Minnesota where I'd visit aunts and uncles often while growing up.
I have also visited the lovely Lancaster Pennsylvania before too. I almost moved there once because of a job interview my husband had there. Also, I recently just found out that I had a great grandmother on my mom's side that was from there.
Today, but not planned this way or by any choosing of the name Lancaster for a town intentionally, I just happen to really be living on a farm in Lancaster South Carolina. Lol

Mike Wilcock Most likely it was. Many of our cities were named after areas over in England. I grew up in Philadelphia. In a neighborhood called Kensington. Which was named after Kensington, England.
as was York after yorkshire they are considered the twin roses Lancaster is red and york is white

If you mean high crime, poverty, drugs and bodegas with bars on it then yes. People left Ny to create a good life here instead just replicated it. Why would you need bars on the windows of a corner store in the city? In fact most of the corner stores have bars. I am not talking turkey hill either.
If you get out of that 2 to 3 block area of the square then all bets are off. Even then you see countless homeless around the square area or drug addicts feening for their next fix.

You're probably lame suburbanites who get scared shitless if you leave the 10-mile radius surrounding your housing development.
