    I agree. With today's society, this is what we need more of with kids. Kids wanting to fish or hunt keeps them out of trouble and also enjoying the outside and not just sitting around playing video games etc. This dad should be overly proud of his son, wanting to take on a challenge like this and proving he is just as good as the other guy. Hats off to dad also, for giving his time and support to help Dylan do what he loves. Dylan has many years ahead just being 14, but has the ability and pride in what he enjoys. Keep close eyes on this kid, he's gonna rise in years to come. Keep up the good work, and don't ever let someone slap ya down. Your a great kid and I wish you the best in your years to come. Tight lines

  • @jamesqueen115

    Absolutely he should be able to compete. He fallowed the rules and did not get any special considerations for his age. So hell yeah he can compete.

  • @happyfeet7775
    @happyfeet7775 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Kids should be able to compete. If they have the desire to, why not? Its better for them anyway as opposed to staying home. If all rules are followed, I wouldnt have any issues. It really just shows ones ability and skills. And thats what makes competing against each other fun and exciting.

  • @jenniferdeguise5505

    You Go Dylan! Keep on fishing and forget the Haters! let them worry about themselves. I totally agree with anyone being able to fish. If you follow the rules, pay your dues, why can't you fish? that is the beauty of Kayak fishing anyone and everyone can do it. My son loves to fish with us from the Kayak at 6, so it is nice to see other families out there supporting each other and having a great time. Thank you Chad Hoover for standing behind youth anglers and what is right and fair.

    There's nothing about fishing that a kid can't do. It's not like football where he's getting hit by a linebacker. The fish dont care who the person holding the rod is. I think it's great.

  • @LargeMouthLunkin
    @LargeMouthLunkin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Should he be able to fish a Pro circuit? Without a doubt, YES!!! Pro has to do with ability, not age. Truth is, there's a lot grown men scared of the possibility of being out fished by a 14 year old lol. Congrats to Dylan and thanks for having him on your show. I wish both of you the best.

    I think it's great for this kid to win. The only problem with him doing this as a professional is he will not be able to fish on High School or Collegiate Fishing Teams because he has lost his amateur status now. But if he want to be a Pro now then so be it. Good luck.

      Yes after researching this I now understand the NCAA is not the governing body for collegiate bass fishing teams. I also unrest and some of the colleges that do have bass fishing teams all their student athletes to earn up to $10k from outside tournaments. So, with that said great job to the young 14 year old who won your event.

    Hey Chad. I am all for letting the kids fish, but the concern I have is should the minor win an event, as Dylan did, but also competes in other sports in school or college, does this affect their eligibility to compete in those sports? High school and the NCAA have strict rules regarding cash prizes. Maybe there needs to be a system to award youth prize money as scholarship money to be used for college the way they do with youth bowling. Definitely something to look into. Thanks.

Chad great interview I will see you in #Shreveport. I say absolutely anyone who is willing to invest their time regardless of their age and have the confidence to compete against people who are mostly twice their age I take my hat off to them. #KBF has put all the safety aspects in place with minors having a marshal with them to ensure they make sound judgments while on the water. This is whats needed in the sport so it will continue to grow in the future.

    Dylan, first off congratulations and awesome job. Second, don't listen to, or let anyone tell you that you shouldn't be fishing a pro event because your are to young. Most of the people saying that are just mad because they got beaten by a kid lol. You put in the same hard work that any angler did that day, and you made the right choices, found the fish, and caught them. I personally think it is awesome to see a young man make an accomplishment like that, and make history for a growing sport. Keep it up and good luck the rest of the year.

    Chad a question for you concerning the motors on kayaks. Do you have a video on why they should be allowed in tournaments and such? I am very new to the sport of kayak fishing and let’s say I need convincing on why you would want a motor on a kayak, I haven’t got past the pedal part of it yet. But I want to understand. Thanks.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      FL Panhandler I know tons of people that need motors. If you want motors to be available to those that need them then there has to be a market for them, not just for disabled or handicap people.
      In addition, as the top four in the sport, it is our job to push the envelope for what is possible with these craft, drive innovation, drive competition and drive advancements that we all benefit from as anglers.
      The great thing is, if you don’t agree with it, there are plenty of tournaments to fish that don’t allow them.

    • @flatraveler9383
      @flatraveler9383 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chad Hoover that makes perfect sense. Being very new to the sport I figured you had seen pushback. Thanks for being an ambassador to the sport, your excitement in this young man winning the tournament proves that. And thanks again for all the videos.
