  • The absolute real-world record is 9:00.52 (as of 1 October 2020) with a hill-climb special, the best sim performance known to me is 9:14 (with a hill-climb special again). So this world record represents quite an improvement. :-) BTW: This video actually makes me feel proud. The level of difficulty is simply outrageous here... There are ~30 corners the car cannot take normally. You have to spin the rear wheels in all of those. The total number of corners (including the weaving on the so-called straights) is approx. 248. This means a corner every 2.1 seconds. :-) Usually, you only get to the finish with essentially a wrecked car... Unlike the F138, e.g. the Lotus 98T can take all the corners smoothly (bigger steering angle). So the difficulty is MANY times lower there. With that car, you can actually finish the run without touching anything quite easily. With the F138, the last third of the run is SO painful... With a bigger steering angle, the F138 time would easily be sub-8:30 because you wouldn't destroy the rear tyres by intentional spinning. The front wing damage upon impacts has a demolishing effect on the rest of the run. None of the touches and hits (6 in total) are therefore intentional and they are disadvantageous. The car suffers the first damage at 2:20 in this video (from the left edge of the track after I overcooked the left-hander). I want to revisit this and get an even better time without a single touch.
