Considering how much effort Capcom is putting into promoting Monster Hunter Wilds, I’m kind of expecting them to not reveal RE9 until after Monster Hunter is out and its marketing campaign is finished.

Why not just give new characters?….. That’s a real “hot take”… All you people are talking about characters that are 20 years old or more…. Have we not had enough? Let’s move on. I REALLY hope at the very least, that the main character isn’t Chris. That is probably the worst choice for true survival horror. Part of survival horror is the character ALSO BEING SCARED and also typically lacking extreme combat capabilities…. Chris is everything but that. But there’s way too many RE Stans that are stuck in the past and I know eventually they’re gonna let Capcom ruin RE again.

Which the 20+ year old characters deserve a better send off then some rushed “and they all died or lived happily ever after”. So, I think, just in my gut… re9 and maybe re10, will be setting up for something new, and away from the current legacy characters. I do stan hard for all of them. Claire is just so underrated, and I think she deserves her own mainline game.

Some also say its to inbest in controling the next generation but ironicaly the left arent having children while conservatives are. I would love to see a remake of RE5 with Chris and Sheva but darker and more survival, they can skip the heavy action scenes like the chase or the bikes rodeo and give Wesker more screen time on how he controled Jill
Capcom doesn't want to steal away hype from the Monster Hunter Wilds release. I suspect they will make a showcase dedicated to Resident Evil after the release of MH: Wilds.
Well i hope that if we get Leon S. Kennedy as character in RE9 - i just hope it be WITHOUT ADA! Really i hated her and this arc + making her one of main characters and we know almost nothing about her is annoying too, when she is always near to Leon pumps my rage higher - especially by that toxicity she brings into Leon´s games. Also i would like to more see Sheva approaching Chris when B.S.A.A. is corrupted (to see how that affects their relationship - because Sheva is really caring person, who doesnť want her partner to being at bad situation). I'm not sure an open world RE would work. Part of the charm for RE games is that they're more "compact". And you're forced to survive with limited resources. In an open world, they would have to add mechanics to compensate for the larger scale. Not to mention the potential for the "bloat" specific to the typical open world experience.

Hope its amazing. The story is getting out of hand a lot now. Especially since idc about 7 or 8. I like the ideas & concepts but not story or execution. Re2 remake was amazing. So many cool approaches they could do with 9 & future titles. Open world like gta or mgsv would be cool since it's rumored to be an island along with a horde zombie mode. 4 was so groundbreaking but now it's just more of the same pretty much everytime it feels like. Like they aren't pushing the potential to the limits. Re is a classic and should always be a masterpiece of art/gaming.

The general story points from RE0 should be I DLC for a remake of resident evil one. The story was very weak and Rebecca's character contradicted how she was in resident evil one. A remake of resident evil one could be the high point of the series if Capcom do it right. Considering how involved Wesker's in re5 it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to do that without expanding on him in re1 remake.
DuskGolem only meant that it's not as abintiomated because Resident Evil Code Veronica and Zero are not as big games as 4 is. He clarified this again in a later post. He says that these games will still get the fantastic remake treatment like 4. Just not to the extent of 4 because it's a much bigger game than all the others.
IF it's shorter than 4 that will not be acceptable.They can readily add and restore the lost content that was cut of it makes sense to do so.I hope they don't cop out like they did in re3r.

I'm sorry, but if Resident Evil 9 is anything like 7 and 8, I'm going to have to pass on it. I was a fan of Resident Evil 7 when it first came out, but I wasn't very happy with 8. Seven and eight feel more like a spin-off series rather than the main line of Resident Evil. In my own opinion, the main games are Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, 4, and 5. Out of the original five, I believe 5 and Code Veronica are the only ones that truly need a remake. I'm not a big fan of the first-person monster horror era of Resident Evil. I miss the zombies and the bio-weapons with likable characters. I didn't really connect with Ethan or Mia. I'm just not feeling the hype right now. I'm happy for those who enjoy the newer Resident Evil games, but I'd rather see Code Veronica, 5, and even 6 get a reboot. I think the ending of 4's remake showed a lot of promise.
Completely agreed with everything you’ve said. RE7 and RE8 don’t feel like true Resident Evil games, plus there is so many horror games who use FPV so to me it just falls into the same category of the other ones in that aspect. It just doesn’t have that magic the original games do, I’ll pass too if it’s anything like 7 or 8. The only time I feel like I ever come back to RE now is the remakes, the newer games just don’t hit the same.

Sherry would be an interesting choice but you could play as her in re6.Rule of rose wad the end of Rose's entire storyline so now that Ethan is officially dead and the dlc kinda sucked I dont know if we will see either of them again or at least in the foreseeable future.
RE9 needs the Death island protagonists and Billy Coen as playable characters, with Mia still involved to finish the Winters saga and have it take place after Village and before Shadows of Rose. And do RE0, CV, Survivor, Outbreak, RE5 and RE6 remakes before RE9.
So, my guess is that RE9 was the original RE8 but they couldn’t get it ready in time so repurposed Revelations 3 as Village. I really hope they move away from then more mythical/ fantastical events of Village for RE9. The director being the same guy as the director for RE7 tells me capcom knows they’re going too far down the action/silliness rabbit hole again with Village.
I want Jill and Leon with Ada, I love the story on how Chris told Leon that Ada died but it was her clone Carla, I wonder what he will react once she saw Ada is alive in RE9
Calling it now, but RE9 will be set on a massive island town or city like the leaks suggests where you play as multiple characters, including some legacy characters, and you switch between them like how you can switch between Peter and Miles in Spider-Man 2. Also, this game most likely will involve the Connections as the main villains, if this truly is wrapping up the modern story, and, while there are zero clues to this actually happening whatsoever, I'd love for Wesker to return, perhaps as a clone of the megamycete or something.
I would like to see a resident evil in space and take place on alien planets and at some point those viruses got out infecting human populated planets that would be interesting also one of umbrella's mouthpiece comes out and start singing it wasn't me

This means that it needs a new characters new people new places. RE9 open world...🤢 way to ruin another franchise with it! I remember they went from classic survival horror to Action horror 4,5 and 6...effectively killing the franchise then taking steps to return to basics with 7 and 8. Resident Evil is a linear survival horror game 12-15 hours, if they change that to an open-world game, they are repeating their past mistakes imo. Don't bite the hand that feed you and never create a product nobody asked for, dont betray your original fanbase just to expand to wider.
Re4make was so overrated. Its a like for like remake of the original that didn't need it. RE2make & 3make were so much better. Seeing those game brought genuinely in to the 3d world was an amazing experience though I'm disappointed that so much was cut from 3. theres no need for this at all as every RE title benefits from a bigger story mode.

The only concern I have is how they would incorporate her powers into a RE survival horror game… I’m afraid it could turn into a completely different game and probably not in a good way. So, my guess is that RE9 was the original RE8 but they couldn’t get it ready in time so repurposed Revelations 3 as Village. I really hope they move away from then more mythical/ fantastical events of Village for RE9. The director being the same guy as the director for RE7 tells me capcom knows they’re going too far down the action/silliness rabbit hole again with Village.

Calling it now, but RE9 will be set on a massive island town or city like the leaks suggests where you play as multiple characters, including some legacy characters, and you switch between them like how you can switch between Peter and Miles in Spider-Man 2. Also, this game most likely will involve the Connections as the main villains, if this truly is wrapping up the modern story, and, while there are zero clues to this actually happening whatsoever, I'd love for Wesker to return, perhaps as a clone of the megamycete or something.

RE9 open world...🤢 way to ruin another franchise with it! I remember they went from classic survival horror to Action horror 4,5 and 6...effectively killing the franchise then taking steps to return to basics with 7 and 8.
Resident Evil is a linear survival horror game 12-15 hours, if they change that to an open-world game, they are repeating their past mistakes imo. Don't bite the hand that feed you and never create a product nobody asked for, dont betray your original fanbase just to expand to wider.

Re4make was so overrated. Its a like for like remake of the original that didn't need it. RE2make & 3make were so much better. Seeing those game brought genuinely in to the 3d world was an amazing experience though I'm disappointed that so much was cut from 3. theres no need for this at all as every RE title benefits from a bigger story mode.
They are making them for money. They know what sells. And remaking good selling games is a guaranteed pay out.
