  • If only @Moraknivofficial made a slightly shorter Companion. Hmmm. What to do? What to do? Oh wait, I know. I'll make one. Check out my painstakingly custom-made Mora Companion. This knife has instantly become one of my favorites to carry. The size is PERFECT. Seriously. It is PERFECT. I even (at great risk to my well-being) shortened the sheath to match the knife. Take a look and see if you disagree with me and think Mora should start producing these. Thank you for watching!! #morakniv #knifemaking

    I love my dremel! I've had it for 15 years and its ground way more steel than my 8" bench grinder. Handiest tool since the rock!

      I use mine so much on some projects, that I had to buy another just so I could alternate and keep me from burning one up. They do like to get hot.

      If you do, I’d love to see the finished product. I’m going to say this, because I say it to anybody doing a knife project, take your time. You can always take more metal away, you just can’t add it back.

    You, sir, are a gee-nee-uss!
    (I actually laughed out loud when you flipped that sheath over! Tee-hee! 😲🤭)
    Man, I wanna do that now! Brilliant idea!

      You know, the mora think about it, the mora think that's something Morakniv should consider: adding a line of 'smaller' versions of their popular knives. Not Eldris small, mind you. (I consider the Eldris too small to be of use, at least in my experience.)
      I think you're on to something and I can't wait to try this myself.

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Believe it or not, my friend, I was thinking about you when I started on this project. The fact that the blade is shorter, but the handle is still substantial would be perfect for you. The ELDRIS is almost comical, in how stubby it is. I guess in a pinch it would be a decent neck knife. Just so that you had something. But my short MORA is actually very usable. It’s holding a great edge and taking on a nice patina because I am using it constantly now!
      I was really disturbed by the image of the Sheath. Not gonna lie. I started scraping on it and sanding it just to lessen the “effect“. I think it looks better now, and I can wear it in public. 😂

    Good job Mr. Tom! Shorted an old, laminate blade Mora years ago, made a "sheath" out of vinyl tubing, was my EDC rough work knife! Mora's are always a good deal for the price! Blsgs on you and yours, gg

    I did exactly the same with my Companion 3 years ago. I have the stainless steel version. I cut off about 2 cm of it and lowered the tip. Now I have exactly the version I wanted and a lighter one - they wear it on a paracord like a neck.

    It looks like you did a great job with the re-grind on the knife. 👍👍 Does Teddy ever get to do voiceovers on this channel? I'm guessing he has a lot to say.

    That is absolutely amazing! The companion is my favorite mora and that mod looks great. That's something I'd definitely buy but it's a knife will never see. Their response to a short knife is the eldris. The eldris is terrible imo, the belly is too pronounced, the blade is too wide and only in stainless steel....

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much. That’s really kind of you to say. I have found that I am carrying this all the time now. It even fits better on my belt when I’m on the tractor for hours. It’s less “in the way“ the Eldris is no comparison to this knife. The blade is the shape of my thumb and the handle is stubby. I truly believe they should add my modified knife into their lineup of knives that they make. They might surprise themselves with how many sell.

    Great video Tom! I likey!!!! This version looks way better than the standard companion. BTW….you only needed to put the sheath back in the dryer for 6 minutes and it would be perfect.

    Thanks for sharing. I am a fan of Mora knives and have a couple companions (one stainless and the other carbon) and the Garberg. I really like the Garberg and have it attached to my shoulder strap of my backpack. I like what you did shorting the blade on the companion, just don’t know if I could reproduce it. Thanks again for sharing.

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m glad you like the finished product. Yes… If you do not have some tools, it does make it tough. But you really could do this all with bastard files. It would just take you forever. But if it’s your first time doing that kind of modification, you will learn a lot and be less likely to screw up. I made my first couple of knives with nothing but a series of files and 1095 steel. Took forever, but I was happy with the end result.
      Glad to hear you have a Garberg and that you like it. It really is one heck of a knife! I have unabashedly, abused mine, in more ways that I’m willing to admit. And it still keeps on ticking.

    👍 No offense, but you are not fooling me with all this mumbo-jumbo about Dremels, grinders, files, stones, and soldering guns. I know you really shrunk the knife and the sheath in the dryer. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    In any event excellent idea for a useful knife; maybe Mora will listen. They must also have clothes dryers in Sweden.

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😂. Dang it. I thought if I put in a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo and jargon you would believe that I actually worked on it. You caught me. It was all the dryer. And you’re right. I think they do have dryers in Sweden. Because I don’t think hanging it on a clothesline will do the same thing.
