Original first clip got copyrighted and now the title changed and the clip got cut, so for anyone confused about the comments, the first clip that is now cut was a worker testing if foam was flammable by lighting a massive piece of foam on fire in a foam factory, it made a massive fire and the factory was burned down.

A company I work for started to put “caution hot” on the holding tanks for the hot wax we used. I asked why now?, and the safety inspector said newbs kept burning their hands on the rims after putting hot wax in them. 🤦🏻♂️

The foam ignited so quickly most likely because of the strong off-gassing fumes it releases. These off-gassing fumes are known as VOCs or volatile organic compounds, and they are flammable at surprisingly low concentrations.
VOCs can also be toxic :)
I was thinking it's because of oxygen inside the foam.

@@GrzegorzSobkowicz It's a mix - a fire needs fuel, heat, and air. The VOCs are the fuel, the foam contains the air, and because it's so light it doesn't need much heat to ignite/spread. A very flammable combination.

Flies are surprisingly slow to react, meanwhile, FOAM is not.
Lol in what way was that fly slow? It's pretty hard to get out of the way of a speeding arrow, especially when you're back is turned to it.

I'm guessing a flammable gas was used to make the foam. I.e. All the bubbles in the foam are bubbles of flammable gas. A disaster waiting to happen.

So it is perfect mach for this situation, it is heavy as a gas and every extra degree of temperature would cause other isomers to boil and fuel the fire instantly.
It turns out the dude went to get another job and the interviewer said that they were looking for a responsible person. Dude told them that the last place he worked at burned down and the boss said that he was responsible.
It was confirmed that foam is indeed flammable. He took one for the team. Respect.

Years back I had a client who manufactured those pvc foam rolls, he explained to me that in order to make the pvc like a foam, they have to "inject" the material with butane gas, after that they store the product in secured sites for 30 or 40 days to get the gas to disappear... that guy didn't know that fact... he could have died...
Interesting that it’s still the cheapest way to produce these foams. Storing is expensive

The best way to think of most foams is that they're basically solid, aerated oil.
As in they're literally almost completely composed of oil with a few key additives to keep the bubbles of air stable. You may extrapolate their typical flammability from this fact for yourself.
That means the shit's probably gonna burn pretty good, huh bub?
It's because the production prosses leaves flammable gas trapped in the foam cells before it has a chance to diffuse out.

Yes, absolutely. A classic final year project for ambitious swedish high school students in STEM programs is to make old Volvo's run on all sorts of crap. In my high school, the STEM kids converted a diesel car to run on freakin wood! They made a "fuel tank", containing wood, that was heated (by burning wood...), which in a oxygen free environment produces flammable gases. Essentially, they were producing fuel via dry-distillation of wood. The flammable gases were then piped to the diesel engine.
It ran terribly, producing horrendous amounts of soot, and I imagine that the poor engine wished for the sweet release of death. But it did run, and they could drive it for several kilometres.
They also did the thermodynamic efficiency calculations for it. It was VERY bad, and not a viable method for fuelling cars.
I was still throughly impressed though.

Reminder: The "Alligator" running wasn't an alligator. It was a crocodile, due to the color of the scales, skin and the shape of the snout. Alligators are a dark shade of navy, and their snout is a U shape; while Crocodiles are greenish with a more V shaped snout.

Several months late, and I'm sure plenty have pointed this out already, but that species of running 'alligator' is a Cuban Crocodile, probably the only living species of crocodillian (I am aware of) capable of running as an adult, as pretty much other species of alligator and crocodile lacks the leg structure of Cuban Crocs (Cuban crocodile legs are notably longer by comparison in relation to their body, and are a bit more muscular). In fact, in gatorland I believe (which is where the footage most definitely may be from), they actually train them similarly to dogs, where they come if called by name by their caretakers. In fact, there's a video on TH-cam that goes into detail on them (I can't provide the link because I suck at remembeing overtly long things like website links).

There are women-only parking spaces in Germany, too, usually put closer to the exit because that's where the personnel would be. They also have huge emergency push buttons on each pillar. Since these spaces are usually introduced in parking garages where there's service personnel monitoring, it's difficult to assess how effective they are, since monitoring alone is also considered a good deterrent as long as there's unmonitored spaces.

I was in the “dirt room” as we called it, a small area under our main house. Above was wooden flooring. All the piping was wrapped in foam and I was also curious whether it was flammable. It lit up in a flash and started racing along the length of the pipe. Fortunately I managed to put it out, burning my young hands in the process. Never been so panicked in my life-could’ve burnt the entire place down. Never told a soul until now.
