  • Unboxing a Russian made Power Gouge. I will admit I am impressed. Quality tool with a great price when compared to others I have seen. Been wanting one and I am not regretting buying this one.

    Svetlana was the last power gouge I ordered from Russia and she didn’t work and cleaned out my bank account.

    Cy, when I saw this I thought sculpting. Have a lot of grinders, would be nice if they sold a similar extension for a power grinder. Hope all is well!

    Got one coming in November. I've been stuck with a Savage Power Gouge without the tool to change cutters.

    Looks like it would be good for grinding small stumps. A video describing your different grinding wheel attachments, how they work, and your impressions would be interesting. Thanks!

      It is of a good design for that use. Of course I wouldn't do that unless I got an extra set of teeth for it (they are replaceable). That way after dulling a set on the stump/dirt I could switch them out and still carve.

    Hey Cy. I see that spike has two sets of holes. The set you used in the video made it set up high, however the other set of holes should set it lower. Not sure how that will swing back and forth but worth a try. That spike could flip over and point up, although I wonder if that position would be of any help. It kicks ass for chewing up some wood. :)

    Hey Cy, don't forget about gas demolition saws that make tons of sparks. All they really have above and beyond a chainsaw is a heavy duty air filtration system.

    • @DIYwithUncleCy
      @DIYwithUncleCy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And they have a shroud around the wheel to minimize sparks getting to the parts that would go Boom LOL.

    Hey Cy would this work well for stump grinding or would it be a little slow with this attachment?

      DIY with Uncle Cy - I bet it has . I’m thinking maybe I can sand some bigger carvings and like you said have your hands away from the wheel . It also give carvers more reach . Yup I think I might shoot a video in the future. Thanks for the inspiration man .

    I'm sure an industrious fellow with a forge and metalworking skills could make cutters to fit.

    Did you try flipping the device over to see if you could mount other tools on the left side instead of the right side of the bar? If you know someone with a metal lathe, they might be able to cut you a spindle with the threads reversed. The tool looks well made, mostly by hand. It lends itself to a lot of accessorizing.

      @DIYwithUncleCy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the bar that is attached having the offset bend it has it can't be flipped because the belt would not line up. I could remake the bar but that seem like a lot of trouble. I also wondered about changing the arbor and finding a way to put a twist in the belt. For now it will work fine and yes it is of quality construction.

    Won't that mess up your oiler running it dry?

    Cy, Thanks, something I am thinking about getting. Still not sure though.
    Also, what type of camera do you use for making your videos, and do you use an external mic?

    • @DIYwithUncleCy
      @DIYwithUncleCy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's worth the investment especially for a carver. As for cameras I have a Cannon T6i with an external mic and a Cannon Vixia camcorder, it will take an external bu I do not have one for it yet. There are links in the description for my set up.

    Would changing the bar around the other way around as it has a bend on it, then put the cutting wheel / pully on the other side then wouldn't the belt run a straight line .. Hope you know what l am trying to explain here. l think that the cutting blade would turn in the opposite direction

    Please don't put a cutoff wheel on this thing. You think one blowing up on a angle grinder is bad, wait till a 30cc engine blows one up.

    What’s the advantage of this setup over using the grinding head on an angle grinder?

    • @DIYwithUncleCy
      @DIYwithUncleCy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Control mostly and it is safer since your hands are not as close to the cutter as they are with a grinder. Plus I don't need electricity or battery to run it so I can use it anywhere.

  • @jasperedwards3341
    @jasperedwards3341 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can I use it as a stump grinder

    • @DIYwithUncleCy
      @DIYwithUncleCy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would not be as fast as a stump grinder but would do it. Just be careful when you get below ground level. That wheel catches a rock and throws it it could hurt.
