Just ordered one from Amazon for $312.00 I've been a Thinkpad T470 user for YEARS. Its been a real workhorse and has spent many nights in the cold observatory while running my scope and cooled cameras. Can't waitto see if it holds up as well as my T470.
@@Orlkorrectt The T480s I have is a 4 core 8 thread i7-8650U CPU, NVIDIA MX150 2GB GDDR5, 40GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, 1TB Kingston NV2 NVMe SSD. It's perfectly fine, but the 6 core 12 thread AMD Ryzen 5 CPU with it's Radeon integrated graphics performs much better. For light video editing on the road and light gaming, it just operates better. So, I may sell my T480s and use one of the T14's I have.

The pricier I5-10210u and 15-11th gen can't even compete this ryzen 5 pro.... But the final convincing i need is a recently made review to make sure it is suitable to use for today's world.... I just paid for it on a local e-shop app and i really hope this laptop can do well for atleast these 4 years of me studying
If I get some more of these T14's I will likely switch to one myself (from a T480s) as a daily driver. You're right, the AMD version is the definite choice over the Intel version.
no way the mouse you use in the video is of the same brand as the monitor I have right now (my first monitor ever), none of my friends knew the brand, but I decided to trust my gut and I've not regretted it for a single second! first time finding someone else who uses stuff from this brand! also after your video I ordered a refurbished t14 :) I hope it works well, it'll arrive on Wednesday.

The M.2 2242 slot for the WWAN module supports PCIe NVME SSDs, but does not support SATA SSDs. My understanding is that there must only be chips on one side of the SSD, or else it won't fit. I've been looking for a T14 Gen 1 for a while now with the Ryzen 7 and 16GB of soldered memory. Can't seem to find one at a good price.
I have five T14 Gen 1's at the moment if you want me to do a price+shipping quote to your location. I am in BC, Canada. I don't have a 2242 NVMe to test anymore, but I did test a 2280 NVMe with no success.
I own T14 gen 1 AMD. WWAN slot accepts a 2nd ssd such as WD SN520 B+M Key. It is also bootable. T480 was the last intel variant and T14 G1 AMD to allow repurposing WWAN slot to run an additional ssd drive.
Well, I would check out the product specification of any ThinkPad laptop you are looking at because the option has been accessible off and on since mSATA SSD's were a feature. So, Google search any mode with the tag "psref" on the end to view spec sheets and see if an extra 2242 m.2 SSD is an option. Or, take a look at some of the P series, which will have up to three drive options such as the P52.

How does this compare to the T14s with the following specs: 32 GB RAM/ 512 GB SSD Intel Core i7 10th Gen (I couldn't get the exact generation numbers). The con with this is that it's a Quad-Core Processor compared to the hexa-core Processor in your review. I am just concerned if the Ryzen 4650U beats the i7 10th Gen. Also, is there a difference in battery life between the two?
For me, the AMD variant is the choice. The CPU performs well and the integrated gpu is much better than the Intel variant. Battery life will vary depending on how it was used. This is the case with all used laptops.
I would yes, if you have the budget. The CPU is better as well as the integrated graphics. I would guess the T14 has 8GB soldered RAM, so you could install an additional RAM stick to your preferred capacity.

The programs Im intending to use are Adobe Photoshop and illustrator. Im kinda torn as Ive seen alot of thinkpads and I can’t decide whether to which one I should get. Im also getting a solid deal on a T470s that comes with an intel i7 7th gen. I would appreciate if you could recommend me something that’s beneficial and will assist me in my work. Note: they all are coming with 16gb ddr4 ram stick, Intel UHD graphics, and an ssd which ill be upgrading to 1tb.
Well, the i5 8th gen will have the benefit of a 4 core 8 thread CPU. This will help with photoshop and illustrator. The 7th gen i7 is a 2 core 4 thread CPU that is a bit faster than the i5 7th gen CPU. It is not as good as 8th gen for what you want to use it for.

Got it in a solid deal though it might be expensive to some if we compare it with the t480 and 70s but Ive been using it for over 3 days now and its rocking good and getting the job done.

Your friend might be speaking from an isolated experience. In this case, it could be any brand that provided a bad experience if it's anecdotal. ThinkPads are known for durability. Dell or ASUS would likely be perfectly fine too, it might depend on what features you like over another.
Hi, at the begining of the video you have said that you upgraded to 40gb of ram so 8+32 but according to lenovo specs max ram size for this mb is 32gb (for amd version intel has up to 48) I have 16gb soldered versions so im curious can i upgrade it up to 48gb (16s + 32)?

Any capacity DDR4 3200MHz sodimm. If you mean brands, budget can be Timetec. Otherwise Samsung, Crucial, Micron, Kingston.

In comparison to 8th gen Intel, more than light editing. I could do my videos and more. Beyond that is the type of work outside of my wheelhouse.

The units I got were very good. They came from gov't surplus, so there are many variables in wear and tear. 5/5 had good battery life, though.
Can the M.2 SSD slot be used for the M.2 SATA type?
I'm not too sure, I didn't try that out. If you find out, let me know.

It can, yes. The T14's I got with this lot did not have backlit keyboards, though.

No, overclocking. More of an out of box experience, if anything.
