These videos are almost like taking drugs you get hooked on them you can't stop watching them. I watched 6 of them yesterday and have done watched 3 for today so far.

I've definitely hooked up to the tie rod before. Ended up just driving 45 minutes home pigeon toed. It wasn't very much fun. On the bright side I now am the proud owner of a pickle fork.
@Sic Semper Tyrannis He probably did, the guy who pulled them out said here you hook it up to where you want me to pull you out from. So that way he wouldn't be responsible if something gets broke in the process.
New tires in sand, great way to get stuck even when they are flat. Too much digging in, his tires now have about the right amount of tread for what he is doing.
You actually can buy new tires like that. When replacing a single tire on an AWD, some tire shops will actually shave it down to match the others. No reason why you can't have all 4 done that way. OF course, the tire shop will look at you funny but hey, they could sell more tires that way!
I am a faithful woman viewer and know nothing about cars but even I can tell that tie rod thing had been pulled on at one time or another. Thank you Matt for you and your crew and your bonus appearance by Jayme (sp?). Another great video. You offer great entertainment to your watchers especially now. Not that I wish anybody ill but I look forward to someone else’s frustration and their need for your help!

When that radiator gets really hot from the overworking engine in a recovery, line those window washing jets from the windshield to the front of the radiator. Now you have a water spray to the front of the radiator for cooling purposes to relieve the excessive heat quicker.

In California you don't need a cdl or medical card if you are under 26,000 lbs gvwr on any one vehicle. But you need a class a if your trailer is rated over 10k gvwr even if under 26 k total
I bet that Dodge owner had his doubts when a little XJ showed up... even Matt was a bit nervous since his first thought was dropping more air pressure lol! Well done as always and same on the other two. Those tie rods are darn near impossible to straighten, I drove home a wreck that had that same damage but I was able to mostly align it out.
I like to keep tabs on this channel, because living in Vegas, we go out to this area a lot and will most likely eventually be needing Matt's services. Haha!

Both the sharpness of the bend and its orientation (sharply downwards) says the tie rod was NOT damaged by impact with the ground. Either the prior recovery attempt pulled on it (most likely) or it snagged the likes of a narrow steel post
If you look at 7:50 you can see an area of the bottom of the bumper right in line with the bent tie rod end that looks like something bent it up hard while doing the damage to the tie rod
I've had people tell me you make most of your recoveries easy and how much do you charge for an easy pull out. I tell them, it looks easy because he invested in a purpose built Jeep equipped perfectly for the task and the recovery of that investment is how he says in business. Then I ask, "What would it be worth to you to get out of a stuck in the middle of nowhere? The answer is usually "I see your point.". Great video Matt, keep them coming, your one of the best content generators on TH-cam.
It only looks easy because they are extremely good at their job. Also, all the boring parts are left out of the video. There are several hours work into every case.

Must be one of the reasons we're seeing Fab Rats doing some recoveries with Matt. The Yellow Banana's been at there shop getting work done on it. I was also wondering what happened to Casey, great question Will.
And remember kids never pull by the balls...they are not made for yanking on. granted 3 balls probably would never break them but it's good practice not to do what Matt does. Get a shackle.
Meeker Extreme also because he has three of them, they are welded rather than bolted so they have almost no chance of ever breaking. And if you look closely the way he puts the rope over them redirects a lot of the force to the hitch itself rather than the balls.
Hello there ED it's always good to see out on the trail. And I think you need to go to the local TV station see if you can't get hired on as their weatherman you'd be awesome with your cap and your famous Ed's shirt maybe you could put in the contract that once at night you can do a promo spot for your shirts I sure like to have one of those hats you have take it easy and always glad to see you, they don't call you easy Ed for nothing LOL

Honestly, if you run low tire pressure and don't do anything stupid, you won't have any issues. Everyone who gets stuck there has 35+psi in their tires. It's shocking they make it as far as they do, tbh.
I love the old astro vans, my parents had a green one for a good portion of my childhood, it ate fuel pumps but other than that it was a pretty good vehicle
Definitely a business I would love. Driving around to all these beautiful places, in a sweet rig! Getting to play around! And! Get the satisfaction of saving someone and pushing your truck! Dream job
I am sure they have some sort of commercial licence to get in there for a lower rate than the visitors. Or for free since in the end they help keeping that area clean and free of wrecks :D
In the comments of a much earlier video Matt said that he doesn't have to pay to do his job there but has an annual pass anyway. Also, it came in handy once, when he was unrecognizable from a mud recovery going to do the next job... 😆
Tobias Tho I imagine they let service people through without paying. Having spent many years working for a cable company, I got into many places because of it. But Sand Hollow is a good place to relax so I can see him going there when he has some down time.
Seemingly knows how to load a car on it too! She wasn't gonna be happy about it, but she can do it! lol. And Matt would've been sleeping in the dog house if she had to. haha!

Seen a guy bust a 92 xj rear end pulling a 2500 out. Hit some bad bumps like that because the rear tow vehicle wasn’t on the brakes. Rear axle leaf pack literally busted thru the axle tube

Your tires are perfect for your work! I love warn mud tires on the sand. Why would anyone drive a 2 wheel drive with streey tires into that much sand ?
@@rctjacksonville Just because we know that does not mean he knew that, he may have never been able to drive in all that sand. I know I have driven in sand that was nothing like the sand I drove in elsewhere. Some sand packs hard as a rock under weight and some just rolls, unless it is wet then it packs. I don't hold it against some one if they learn the hard way not to drive there, makes for a nice video.
@@badgerpa9 Does make for good video and maybe folks learn a little something. We do run 2 wheel drive in most of the sand we encounter, but we are moving at 70 to 80 MPH with a locker out back in our racing XJ and ZJ. We do have 4X4 but only use it occasionally like in the Gambler 500 where speed is not always possible. But this guy had total street tires and they didn't look "Bagged".

I run my truck in 2 wheel drive almost all the time; even in the snow unless it is bad, last couple years if it looks bad I stay home, used to go out and help people but I walk funny now. Yeah, A while back a mother and son team burned Matt on payment. You can look back about a year or so and watch the vid Matt made about that event. Shame on them, they simply refused to pay him for services rendered!!!💩💩💩😵🔥👅⌛🎭😞😰👿👿
I know when we needed it, we paid after. I freaked out for a sec when my card was declined. 😨 Thankfully it went through the second time. I'm not sure what happens if the recovery is more expensive than a customer can pay. 🤷♀️

That Armada, old banger racing trick. Knock out ball joint or disconnect it somewhere. Then drive it backwards, floating wheel acts as a castor. It would work with side by sides even if you drag the kingpin. Greetings from the UK

to the lads complaining about tires . those are balloons made to "float" over sandy/mud terrain pretty well evenly
"Back in the day" we used TruTracks - kinda crappy in rocks but floated great in the sand.
Luckily the tide wasn't coming IN. And a weather report from Ed! Made my day.

I am sure they have some sort of commercial licence to get in there for a lower rate than the visitors. Or for free since in the end they help keeping that area clean and free of wrecks :D
In the comments of a much earlier video Matt said that he doesn't have to pay to do his job there but has an annual pass anyway. Also, it came in handy once, when he was unrecognizable from a mud recovery going to do the next job... 😆
Tobias Tho I imagine they let service people through without paying. Having spent many years working for a cable company, I got into many places because of it. But Sand Hollow is a good place to relax so I can see him going there when he has some down time.

Seen a guy bust a 92 xj rear end pulling a 2500 out. Hit some bad bumps like that because the rear tow vehicle wasn’t on the brakes. Rear axle leaf pack literally busted thru the axle tube

Your tires are perfect for your work! I love warn mud tires on the sand. Why would anyone drive a 2 wheel drive with streey tires into that much sand ?

@@rctjacksonville Just because we know that does not mean he knew that, he may have never been able to drive in all that sand. I know I have driven in sand that was nothing like the sand I drove in elsewhere. Some sand packs hard as a rock under weight and some just rolls, unless it is wet then it packs. I don't hold it against some one if they learn the hard way not to drive there, makes for a nice video.
@@badgerpa9 Does make for good video and maybe folks learn a little something. We do run 2 wheel drive in most of the sand we encounter, but we are moving at 70 to 80 MPH with a locker out back in our racing XJ and ZJ. We do have 4X4 but only use it occasionally like in the Gambler 500 where speed is not always possible. But this guy had total street tires and they didn't look "Bagged".
@@rctjacksonville Sounds like you are having even more fun than I did, usually in clay mud not sand. I run my truck in 2 wheel drive almost all the time; even in the snow unless it is bad, last couple years if it looks bad I stay home, used to go out and help people but I walk funny now. Hope you have fun racing.

I know when we needed it, we paid after. I freaked out for a sec when my card was declined. 😨 Thankfully it went through the second time. I'm not sure what happens if the recovery is more expensive than a customer can pay. 🤷♀️
Its hourly so it would be a bill after the fact.
Its not high $$$ input so being burnt on payment wouldn't break him.

That Armada, old banger racing trick. Knock out ball joint or disconnect it somewhere. Then drive it backwards, floating wheel acts as a castor. It would work with side by sides even if you drag the kingpin. Greetings from the UK

I'm always impressed that you keep a cool head regardless of the situation. Having had some experience in the sand dunes at Pismo dunes (when it wasn't restricted) and Glamis in SoCal, you are right on with your comments and equipment. Keep up the good work!
