Wowzers!! There aren't many, maybe there aren't any, guitarists who could reinterpret an Allan Holdsworth piece and make it just as satisfying to listen to as the original. What a great performance.👍
Un omaggio al più grande chitarrista di sempre e per sempre non può che scaldare il cuore. Grazie Allan di essere passato per il nostro pianeta a farci capire cos'è il Bello ❤
Matteo is part of the future of guitar, he's not only a great and exceptionable player but for someone so young he is also very knowledgeable about where this fusion music came from. More power to him 👍.
I spoke to his father about this. He was educated about all the greats from a very young age from him. He will definitely take it to the next level in the coming years :)
I immediately said Tony Williams/Allan Holdsworth….. I was able to experience 3 times live in the NY area in the 70’s. God were we lucky to have experienced that decade’s wonderful music.
@@felicehomestream1650 Awesome! They played 2 magical shows here at Alvas Showroom. It was the day after the NAMM convention in Los Angeles, and their first concert in the USA. We were honored and they blew everyone away in the audience. Great band to see live!
Awesome cover of Holdsworth...as usual sick playing creativity, perfect phrasing, timing, intonation... Shawn Lane also played this song in the eighties.
Thanks for posting this show! Nothing I need to add about the incredible playing, so I'll make a techhnical observation (as a broadcast engineer). The video is slightly behind the audio, which is not unusual due to video processing in the equipment. This can easily be fixed in post, or to do it live add a bit of delay to the mixer output that is being recorded. It's easiest to see on something like a snare hit. Thanks again and good luck!
I saw these guys play a few days later in Sacramento, they were incredible. Got to chat with them afterwards, what great guys. Matteo is the hotness and his bandmates are killer too. The drum solo by Gianluca in Sacramento was one of the best drum solos I've ever seen. I've been a big fan of Ricardo and Matteo since their many cover videos like "The Chicken" by the SNIPS band seven years ago. Matteo was also a featured artist at the Steve Vai Academy 7.0 in Orlando, FL in January 2024 and his clinics and live performances were fantastic.
I hope he has a long career. He’s still very young and can play the hell out of that instrument. I got to say, though I’m going back to Alan on this tune. Different just a very different feel….
The guitar sound is different in this one , even from other Mancusos version of this tune , wich ate nothing but perfect.. this time, though, he laks of that Holsworth sound he use to achieve , too bad. First ever tine Matteo Macuso doesn't blow me away 😮.
I have always thought that bass solos, in jazz and fusion, with very rare exceptions, are so bad that they only serve to highlight the other instruments. The final applause at the bass solo, in fact, is due to liberation and not appreciation.😂
@@marioalbano3857 that’s an interesting perception that I can see caries some merit. Especially if the band is guitar-centric of course. For Weather Report, I was also looking forward to a Jaco bass solo. I guess it depends a lot on who is known as the strongest soloist in the band. You are right though. I see what you mean completely.
Yeah, sure, that's it, too precise. It's highly articulated, but not so precise. That said, I would like to hear him play without compression. Sharon Isbin playing Bach, that's precision.
Knowing Matteo when I spent the few days with him at our venue, I think he would humbly agree he is no Frank Gambale. But Matteo is still very young and has much more exploration into his own sound.
Great performance. Please make your own music, don't turn Allans music in to a rock cover, you're totally missing the point. Work on your tone for the next 12 years..
Matteo already has a catalog of original music and is widely regarded as a generational virtuoso. “Covering” or reinterpreting/reharmonizing others music is part of the jazz tradition and has for a very long time.
Uh, it’s a cover. Allan did em (the None Too Soon disc). Preaching to a kid who a) just released his first album before the age of 25, b) has a completely personal technical approach (like AH) is pretty silly.

Matteo is the world's best guitarist, and he's found a group of musicians that are just as incredible. I want to hear a drum solo soon.
Check my most recent video. It has a drum solo :)
