Biggest trout I've caught on lake superior is a 12 pounder . Cool show.
I am a huge fan but I have to agree with some of the other comments about the lack of sonar views in this and your other shows. That is the most exciting part of watching. Check out Clayton Schick to see how it is done. Also why no mention of any of your gear except the jig head. Rod, reel, line, leaders?
Amazing episode. Lake Trout are a fun species to fish for. I have only caught a couple small ones through the ice but im hoping to catch some more lakers very soon. Once again this was an amazing episode. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more episodes very soon. Thanks for posting this.

Not a lake trout guy but as usual great video especially the heads up on great lake ice safety , congrats on the biggie Pat.....James is a fantastic fisherman but curler.... not so much.....lol
Brent Bakke how are you not a lake trout guy? Is something wrong with you? Lmao they are the most insane fish to target through the ice.
mnsportsman 700 where I’m from we don’t have many lakes with lakers and of the ones we do are long drives and have little to no access unless by tracked vehicle. If you want a large fish here its going after snot rockets and we do have monsters on a daily basis, as of note we only have one lake with bass (very small ones), no crappie, no bluegill, no muskie, no ice fishing clubs to clear lake roads etc our fish world is pretty much perch, walleye, snot rockets, river trout. IDO doesn’t even have my province listed for posting that’s how limited I am....lol.....but watching James and Pat catch the big ones does look like fun but I’m still a walleye guy....lol

Nice episode guys!!😊😊 What action , length of rods and what lb braid were you guys running? I remember seeing some other episodes for lake trout that you were using medium action rods and was wondering if a medium action rod can cover both lake trout and walleye if a lake has both?

What rods are LTP ? tuned up custom? I finally get to target some lakers next week. That technique where pat reels away to get to chase works really good.
Lake of the woods crappie and trout or go off on a limb and find lake of the woods jumbos. Or devils lake area jumbos

What do you use for a leader when fishing for lake trout that size? Can you run braid straight to the hook?
15# floroucarbon. We do not tie direct with braid.
The odd 40 pounder lurks around the shoals of Isle Royale.
What reel are you guys using? And what reel size would you recommend?
Okuma Helios 30. That's our favorite size for lakers.

Fun episode to watch. Where is the public access they used in the second part of the show? Also, is there any strategy to dead rigging or using a tip-up as a second line? I am mostly a walleye guy but would love to give this a try. Thanks!

@@InDepthOutdoorsTV Thanks much! Do you have any rigging tips? The only rod I have that might handle these fish is a 36MH St. Croix baitcaster with 20 pound ice braid.
That's enough rod. Use #15 floro for leader and you're good to go.
