      Whoah.... Your selection is great, completely weird when it comes to the sorting order. When it comes to being a triple threat how can you put Carol Burnett in with the likes of Debbie Reynolds and Danny Kaye? Some of your choices are double threats not triple. And where's Doris Day? 🤨

      Streisand. Actor/Singer/Director/Writer/Producer... guess that makes her a quintuple threat. But If Judy makes the list even though she herself admitted she was NOT a dancer, I guess Babe coulda made it too. (Maybe rethink what an actual "Triple Threat" is before compiling the list?? Some of these choices were... interesting inclusions.

    So glad Gene Kelly is number one on this list. He's my favourite OH actor of all time. Both Gene and Fred changed the art of dance and Hollywood musicals forever with their innovation in classic cinema. Gene Kelly's musical films are the best of all time and Singin' in the Rain is the perfect example on why I love him so much. The American in Paris ballet sequence in An American in Paris is a work of art and one of my all time favourite dance sequences ever! And I am glad Judy Garland made this list. You have not lived if you have not seen the Wizard of Oz legendary film and I loved her in Meet me in St. Louis what a wonderful actress she was and I also loved the three films that she did with Gene Kelly; For me and my Gal, The Pirate and Summer Stock.

      Judy Garland will always be my favourite. She is, and always will be the greatest. But so happy to see the amazing Gene Kelly at number one, a legend for sure. And I love the fact that he made is first Hollywood film with Judy, (also a first for her, as it was Judy's first film where she was billed above the title) in For Me And My Gal. Then she made her last film for MGM with Gene Kelly with Summer Stock..........no, and The Pirate was also the first film my beautiful girlfriend and I watched together

      1 100% agree. Mickey Rooney absolutely should have been on this list. He wasn’t just a triple threat, he was a quadruple threat who had one of the longest careers in cinema history. Actor, Dancer, Singer, and Comedian.
      I feel like a lot of current critics consider him a poor singer. Especially if you look at all the other singers he got paired with in his films. Granted, Mickey did not have golden pipes like Frank Sinatra, but he was just as competent a singer as Gene Kelly. He just had a less appealing natural voice, so when he sang, it sounded rough. Whereas Gene’s natural voice was soft and monotone, so when he sang it was smoother.

    I don’t so much have a problem w your picks ( albeit *Gene Kelly over Fred Astaire? **_I don’t think so_* . IMPO.) But to leave Bing Crosby and Ann Miller as honorable mentions? For Gregory Hines not to be mentioned at all? Ethel Merman? Frank Sinatra? Sammy Davis Jr? Doris Day? Donald O’Connor? Lucille Ball? Some I care about more than others but still. *Frank, Sammy, Gregory & Lucille are slaps in the face* . Probably would have been better to do a 20 best bc of all the talent from that era. Again, JMO. But then again, to this date, a century after he started out, ppl still use Fred Astaire as their yardstick for whether somebody can dance; and the Yankees play Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York after each game. They left a stamp of approval that still rings thru the 21st century. 🥰🥰 _I’m just saying_ … 😂😂😂

    Judy is the Queen to Kelly's King. No actor/singer/dancer/comedian/performer ever gave more to their audiences than she did, for 45 of her 47 years. From vaudeville to radio, from movies to concerts, Judy remains the standard for anyone who follows her. Some may occasionally hit the mark, but no one comes close to her sustained excellence. Judy is the Mount Rushmore of entertainment all by herself.

      They weren't going for strictly actresses but stars who could sing, dance and act. That leaves out Davis, Turner, West, Crawford (she has no grace even tho she danced with Astaire). Now Betty Grable is another story.

    Hayworth, Robinson, Andrews, and Rogers, Astaire, Garland, and Kelly star in a science fiction space thriller. A group of scientists lands on a newly discovered planet and are tasked with terraforming it. They discover the endemic alien species can only communicate through tap dancing code or song. It becomes a musical.

    I grew up watching Sherly Temple as a kid and I'll never forget after having my daughter ( now 16) I thought she would be into Sherley Temple as much as I was. Well that wasnt the case at alll. She comes running into the hallway bawling her little eyes out. ( she was about 3 if that at the time) mommy the TV is broken and I didn't mean to break it . Apparently she truly thought the TV was broken because she was watching it in black and white. 😂 I literally just now remembered that moment. I obviously had to explain to her that's how movies where made back then in black and white before they added color. As a mom do you know how hard it was to keep a straight face and not bust out laughing.

    enjoy the list (surprised I saw it so soon after being posted) and your channel. one thing is for sure... you're going to get a lot of pushback limiting the greatest triple threats ever to just 10. ;). and maybe defining the era of 'golden age'... if you're talking the 1930's-60's, i'd think bing crosby and bob hope would have to be included. hope especially downplayed his dance ability since it was usually wrapped in comedy. both were hugely influential on-screen, stage, radio, and the business of entertainment. and i'm glad you mentioned the hugely underrated dick van dyke. that's him hopping on a table and dancing in his early 90s?? felt so awful he waited so long to be honored by the kennedy center, and then during covid was part of a much more muted recognition. i'd love to see kch invite all those winners to receive some cheers now that live performances are back to a little more normal. sinatra, doris day, lucy... maybe a top 20? lol

    Rita Hayworth was not a triple threat. She was dubbed in all her movies, but did sing one song at the end of Gilda. Rita Moreno can sing but was also partially dubbed in West Side Story.

    Oh Ms. Mojo... I realize that this is just a top ten list, but the wonderfully talented Rita Hayworth is not a triple threat and she shouldn't be on this list. I think Anita Ellis (Gilda), Jo Ann Greer (Pal Joey and many other of Hayworth's singing roles), and Martha Mears (Cover Girl) who dubbed her voice for these singing roles would take umbrage with this assessment of her talents. There are quite a few articles, interviews with Rita Hayworth herself talking about being dubbed and TH-cam videos showing which actresses were dubbed in old Hollywood. If you were to play the dubbed songs back to back you would hear the difference in their vocal tones. One last thing, not to take anything from Moreno, but It's crazy to think that Rita Moreno could be dubbed but if you listen closely to "A boy like that" you can absolutely here the difference between Moreno's actual voice and Betty Wand who dubbed her for just that one song.

    I know you love Ann Miller and Vera-Ellen, but Cyd Charisse was an amazing dancer and actress and could sing. I love Rita Hayworth and, while she could sing, her songs were generally dubbed.

    *Hugs her stuffed Toto and Toto 2 (too). Happy Judy is on the list as deserved. Not as known as her vocals, but she danced with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire among others and held her own. (Was the lead in Gene Kelly's FIRST movie. First time her name was shown above the title). The list is amazing with everyone on it, though, of course.

  • @Evan-vs1ew
    @Evan-vs1ew ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Rita Hayworth didn't do her own singing... a talented movie star, but not a triple threat.
    If you consider stage and TV musical performers who had some musical film output you could add in Angela Lansbury (her performance on stage in Mame showcased this), Gwen Verdon (4 time Tony winner) or Debbie Allen.
