Fun fact: The character of the Earth Queen is actually based on a real historical character (also his servant and nails) 💅 I’m talking about Empress Cixi. She was the last great ruler of the Chinese Empire before it fell. Empress Cixi ruled China for 47 years during the 19th century. In The Legend of Korra, the Earth Kingdom is a clear reference to the Chinese Empire between 1870 and 1916. For example its decadence, internal problems and revolts... and also in the inability of the Kingdom to defend its own interests against foreign powers (Republic City and the Fire Nation) In my opinion these references and details make season 3 the best of all.
Note that in both ATLA and LOK, the central Earth Kingdom government is the most incompetent of the world powers, and had the most incompetent head of state (we never see this level of inefficiency and stupidity from.the Fire Nation, the SWT, the NWT, the Omashu government, the Metal Clan, the Earth Empire, or the new Air Nation; even Raiko had his moments of good decisions). If we ever get a sequel series to LOK I expect that the real dominant power on this continent would be the Metal Clan, now officially its own sovereign nation (which it de facto is even in LOK) and expanded beyond Zaofu (but nowhere near Earth Empire levels). The EK government has either completely reformed by then, or gets kicked around by every other nation in the Avatarverse.
@@Prince_the_One He wasn't evil, but he was definitely the least competent head of state in the original series. And the rest of the central government was horribly inefficient and repressive, meaning the EK government is still easily the most incompetent government in the entire Avatarverse across both series.

The queen's assistant's title is Grand Secretariat, the same title as Long Feng. The Dai Li are directly controlled by the Earth Queen now, who is the daughter of the Earth King in Aang's time. Also, yes you did hear Greg (Beastboy) Sykes' voice as Mako and Bolin's cousin, Tu.
