Can I use the same return for the channels that I want to use reverb on? Thank you

If I understand you correctly, yes. For Example, Vocal 1, Vocal 2, Vocal 3, etc. tracks can all be sent into the same Reverb Return. By doing so you're putting them all into the same Reverb or more accurately, you're putting them all into the same room.

Excellent video. So if you had say 5 different tracks utilizing the Verb, can they each have different degrees of reverb with the mini fader?

    • @protoolsservices9816

Thanks Bill! Yes, that's 100% correct, the mini fader (send fader) on each track determines how of much of each track you want to send to the reverb or delay... and

can you solo just the reverb to hear it by itself?

In this default configuration no, but it is possible with a different routing scheme. In the example here, when you solo the Reverb or Aux track, all other tracks are soft-muted as a result of the solo so you wouldn't get any of the source tracks that are feeding the reverb/delay.
The quickest may to do that is to make the send on each track pre-fader (click the "P" button on any send you'd like to make pre-fader). This will still send audio from each track to the reverb/delay even though the main output of that track would be muted as a result of the Reverb/Delay Aux track being solo'd.
Another way, which is a bit more involved is to NOT use SIP (Solo in Place) soloing mode which is the default for Pro Tools. Traditionally, non SIP solo mode or AFL or PFL soloing required additional gear but is now supposedly possible with new (relatively new) functionality in the Pro Tools IO setup window. I'll dig in on this and create a video for it...
      Thanks!
      Jon

I just posted another video on soloing with AFL/PFL Solo modes so you can hear a Reverb return... check it out here, hopefully it's helpful...

Just what exactly is the SOLO SAFE option and why use it?

    • @protoolsservices9816
      @protoolsservices9816  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks Bob! Solo safe prevents that track from muting as a result of another track being muted. This way you can solo the vocal or instrument track, the reverb Aux track won't mute so you'll hear the vocal or instrument track and reverb together.
Solo safing is also very handy with submixes. Solo Safe the Aux track that other tracks are routed through so you can solo any of the source tracks and not have to also Solo the Aux track too.
Maybe I should make a video for Solo Safing too!

@@protoolsservices9816 I have never had issue, soloing the track and the verb on the aux send.

    Not helpful, whatsoever.
Like many other "instructional videos", you directed this at a demographic of advanced knowledge, completely ignoring those of us who require every detail, with nothing skipped, and presented in a more comprehensive manner.
