Thank you for the honesty with the pros and cons w/ MD vs DO, such good points. Btw your planning in OneNote gave me the motivation to final plan out 2024, thank you!! - Becca
MD student here, good comparison with the pros and cons of DO vs MD programs, studying for COMLEX on top of USMLE must be difficult. Aside from boards though, we really don't have more free time than DO students that have to study OMM, so I wouldn't view that aspect as a disadvantage. At least at my school, our curriculum just throws in a ton of other assignments and requirements that eat up all of our time as well.
Thanks 🙂 I think all schools throw in the extra things, so that we can be “well rounded” doctors. I like most of those things, I think they’re helpful! Hope school is going well!
Yeah the general systems test the same concepts for both, so I do feel like it was sufficient. I ended up taking comlex first, then step. So I studied everything + OMM for comlex. Then for the week in between I studied biochem, plus reviewed everything else (- omm) for step.
@@finance2medicine oh wow I didn’t think about it like that, that makes more sense actually. Do you have an email I can reach out to you at by chance for anything future related?
I'm also a second year DO student. I'm surprised that your school lets you take USMLE before COMLEX. We aren't allowed to take USMLE for at least two weeks after COMLEX. It's interesting to see how every program is different.
Yeah they don’t have any rules against that. They do emphasize that COMLEX is the more important exam, since we need to pass it to start rotations. I’m surprised they make you wait two weeks, when information retention would be freshest right after taking the first exam.
@@finance2medicine I'm not sure why the rule is in place, but I know they mentioned it at our last class meeting. It does seem a bit strange, but can't do anything about it at this point.
Oh I didn’t know they were already updated with all the UW questions! That’s good to know, then I don’t have to make the new cards, I can just search them in the deck 😄 tysm for letting me know!!
Hey! followed your advice and checked for the anki cards with the UW tags. The questions I am looking for are tagged 23,000+, but the tagged anki cards only go up to 22,000. Do you know anything about this?

Was studying U world systems sufficient for both step and complex? And did you re study your systems before comlex or just solely focused on OMT?

Yep it’s in the bio of any of my videos!
Thank you’ and congrats on completing step and comlex!

@@Viennagirl1120 yeah I feel that- just have to go with what’s in place and hope that it’s for the best 🙂
If you use the anking deck, most of the Uworld questions are already tagged and have cards!
