Yess third year has been so great 🙌 something to look forward to 🙂
YAY!!!!!!!!! How awesome!!!! I have a friend who needs to still take her exam and the poor thing is very scared too so she keeps deferring it. Im not currently talking to her but yeah. CONGRATS!!!!! :)
Thank you!:) I wish her the best, it's a tough time :\
Congratulations on passing both the USMLE and COMPLEX! 🎉 Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Do you have any advice on study planning for taking USMLE after a 1-yr preclinical curriculum without a true dedicated step-studying time? There is a 2-week summer break before starting clinical rotation.
Thank you:) when are you expected to take step 1 (before clinical rotations start or after clinical rotations are done)? Either way since you don't have a dedicated period, you're going to have to find time to do your boards studying everyday during the year. This could look like 10 practice questions every day, versus how I did 20-60 only in the three months or so leading up to the exam. That's tough that you get no dedicated period..
Is the USMLE book you mention the same as First Aid? Congrats on passing everything 🎊 ❤️
Yesss 😄 thank youu💛🎊
Congrats on passing both
Thank you 🙂🥳
Congratulations!
Thank you 😊
Love this video!!

YAY! Congratulations, well done!!!
Thank you so much!!💛
Was studying U world systems sufficient for both step and complex? And did you re study your systems before comlex or just solely focused on OMT?
Yeah the general systems test the same concepts for both, so I do feel like it was sufficient. I ended up taking comlex first, then step. So I studied everything + OMM for comlex. Then for the week in between I studied biochem, plus reviewed everything else (- omm) for step.
@@finance2medicine oh wow I didn’t think about it like that, that makes more sense actually. Do you have an email I can reach out to you at by chance for anything future related?
Yep it’s in the bio of any of my videos!
Thank you’ and congrats on completing step and comlex!
Thank you!!
LOL.
I love your vlogs so much! Keep up the good work :) 🥰
Thank you 💛☺️
me just realizing that i made the decision to enter medicine when I was under 21. "my prefrontal cortex was not mature yet.
Haha this resonates 😂
vlog please. we missed u
Aw thanks 😊 after boards are over 🙂 full focus on studying for now
Did you find that you retained the information from just watching the videos without the anki cards?
Not as well and not as much, but some things here and there. It was definitely better when the video was followed up with the cards.
Wow Thanks for answering so fast ☺️. I don’t feel like I have time to add more cards for some videos 😩. Welp I guess it’s better than nothing.
No problem:) when it got to that point for me- I started selectively un suspending cards for videos. Like if I watched a pharm video, I would only unsuspended the cards for the moa and adverse effects.
*Promosm* 🍀
I’m rooting for you, been watching you since you took your MCAT!
I remember your @ :) Thank you, I appreciate it!
How do we get a copy of that spreadsheet with the videos!?
Email me and I can send you a copy 🙂 email is in the bio. Just specify which ones you’re talking about
whatching america's videos again and again is such a real med student expereince 😂😂
Haha I’m glad someone understands 😂 happy she’s back to making more videos now
Why do DO's have to do USLME and COMLEX? Is it just for making your application more competitive? Or do DO's have to do both USLME and COMLEX?
good question- yes it is recommended that we take both if we want to apply for a competitive specialty, but it is not required for us to take the USMLE. This used to be because the MD and DO residencies were under two separate councils, and if you were applying for an MD residency as a DO, you would need to have a USMLE score to compare to the other MD applicants. Now both residency groups are merged under one council, so technically either a COMLEX or a USMLE score should suffice for residency placement, but because this happened so recently and there are still many unknowns, it is still recommended that we have both scores to show for. so unfortunately a lot of DOs still have to sit for two board certifying exams. I hope that in the near future we will only have to take the one :)
I'm rooting for you across from the other side of the country. I've been watching your channel since you've been studying for the MCAT! you got this :)
Haha oh those were the dark days 🙈Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support 💛
Congrats for passing! Keep up the hard work - you're almost done!
Thank you!!🙏💛
youre SO strong!!!! sending you lots of love and kindness! I just finished my first year of med school in France and it was a HORRIBLE YEAR but at the same time one of the best of my life! Keep going girl and always keep your focus in mind, I believe that if we give everything that we have and work hard for it , we will do it and become DOCTORRRS!!! kisses form France!
Congrats on completing your first year 🥳 yeah totally agree first year was one of the hardest but also one of the best years of my life! Hope you made it out with more positives than anything🙂 yess our hard work will pay off and I’m so excited for everything that’s coming up ahead! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a message, that was so sweet! Enjoy the summer and good luck 2nd year!!💛
Are you using the old Anki algo or the new FSRS? I feel you're doing way too many cards.
I know I am 😭 I decided to start limiting how many I do now. I’m not sure- to answer your question. I bought the new v12, idk if that came with the new algo
You would have to edit the Deck Settings as it's an Anki setting. I used to do 600-800 and it cut it down to ~200 daily. It spaced out the cards way better as I saw cards I knew way too often with old algo. Highly recommend checking it out.
Okay thank you!!🙂
Why did you switch from finance to medicine?
Long story- but to put it shortly, it was supposed to be my stepping stone to law school, and when I decided law school wasn’t for me, finance was never supposed to be the end goal. I wanted to go into law to help defend innocent ppl (aka be a defense attorney) but I realized the field wasn’t everything I thought it would be. And since I still had the goal of going into a field where I could meaningfully impact lives, I explored medicine and ended up falling in love with it 😊
@@finance2medicine Should anyone who do not have a passion for science go into medschool?
It depends on what you mean by science. The whole field of medicine is based on science. But if you didn’t like chemistry or physics in school, it doesn’t mean you won’t like anatomy or pathology in medical school. The sciences here are different so you might find that you have a passion for them. Medical school is very grueling so I would definitely give it a lot of thought if you have any doubt at all that it might not be for you.
Finishing up first year and this is fascinating knowing I’ll be in your shoes soon, good luck!
Yeah you got this! I enjoyed second year so much more 🙂 good things to look forward to
@@finance2medicine I’m looking forward to second year. Will you make a video on how you started using Anking when you started dedicated? Just looks like so many cards I’m confused where to start
I honestly kept up with all the same cards I had from first year. So it hasn’t changed specifically for dedicated. But it all depends on where you’re at with your progress and how you want to approach it. I know a couple people who fully suspended everything, and only do cards they unsuspend from getting UW questions wrong. I chose to keep all my cards, but sometimes I feel like I’m drowning bc of it 🫠😂
