Rwanda-backed M23 rebels have vowed to march towards DR Congo's capital Kinshasa after making advances in the mineral-rich east. They have taken control of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province and are just 80 kilometres away from Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province. The US President Donald Trump has now spoken and called it a very serious problem. Rwanda has defended its support to Tutsi-led M23 rebels, slamming the international criticism. Rwanda has been accused of seeking to profit from the DRC's eastern region rich in minerals that are used in global electronics. Decades-long fighting has left mineral-rich DR Congo and one of the largest nations in Africa, below the global poverty line average. The Rwandan refugees who came in 1954 were well received, helped with land, prospered, were given Congolese citizenship and today have the most mansions and boats by lake Kivu. They were happy until Kagame and Museveni invaded the DRC for resources, using a Congolese citizen as front, reaching Kinshasa to topple Mobutu, massacring millions of Congolese people in the process to create space for occupation and replacement of people. This brings us to the agenda behind M23. If there is a people who can complain about a terrible mistreatment, injustice and abuse of their hospitality, it is Congolese people and I will include all these Rwandan Congolese Refugees of 1954 and their descendants whose many of their members also found death in these events that they did not create, but created by the Rwandan elite of today with a dark agenda of their own and who pretend today to protect them for a so called discrimination perpetrated against them by the Congolese people. The M23, that armed militia organization that pretends to fight for the rights of discriminated Kinyarwanda speaking people in the Congo, is not other than an arm of Kagame in DRC made of 99% Rwandan troops that can easily blend with the Congolese Kynyarwanda speaking people to insure the continuing plunder of Congolese resources while at the same time fighting for territories rich in minerals and population replacement. It is not a secret that many Banyarwanda are fighting Kagame because they believe he came to trouble their peace, and many are telling that he is not representing them and should not be involving them in that madness.

Hutu and Tutsi refugees fled Rwanda’s genocide to Congo but never left. Kagame has since used their presence to justify annexing Eastern Congo and exploiting its resources for Western interests.
The Banyamulenge emerged from forced intermixing due to Kagame’s ethnic cleansing campaign, led by the Rwandan army and militias like RCD and M23.
Kagame (Rwanda) and Museveni (Uganda) back M23 and M7, with support from the U.S., France, the UK, and corporations like Tesla, Glencore, Microsoft, and Alphabet, profiting from Congo’s minerals.
Since King Leopold II, over 20 million Congolese have died from colonial and neocolonial exploitation. The Banyamulenge, granted nationality for diplomacy, remain caught in conflict despite not being native to Congo.

Part of Kivu used to belong to the Kingdom of Rwanda before colonial powers redrew the borders. That’s why there are Tutsi and Hutu Congolese. They didn’t “migrate” there, they were already living in the region when European colonizers decided to separate it from Rwanda and make it part of what became the DRC.
The proof is in the land itself. Look at the names of mountains like Nyamulagira and Nyiragongo. These names are in Kinyarwanda, the language of Tutsi and Hutu, showing that Kinyarwanda speaking people have been in Kivu for centuries. You can’t argue with geography. These names existed long before Congo was even a country.
Before colonialism, people moved freely across this region, and the Kingdom of Rwanda stretched into what is now eastern Congo, Uganda, and Burundi. But when Belgium and Germany divided the land, some Tutsi and Hutu ended up on the Congo side, while others remained in Rwanda. That’s why you have Tutsi Congolese (Banyamulenge) and Hutu Congolese. They didn’t just show up one day, they were part of the region long before borders were drawn.
So when people claim that Tutsi in Congo are “foreigners”, they are ignoring history. Colonial borders may have changed, but the people and their connection to the land did not.

I would even provide the warning that was given to both MONUSCO and SAMIDRC to not intervene on behalf of FARDC as the rebels were pushing towards Goma which they both refused to adhere to and participated in the battle hence making themselves legitimate targets (Look up on X the tweet made on Friday, Jan 24th by Lawrence Kanyuka, the spokesperson of #AFC_M23).
Once again #SAMIDRC was not on a peace keeping mandate but deployed offensively to help FARDC confront AFC_M23.

He stated that they should not be in DRC as peace keepers because they are siding one side of the conflict. A peace keeper can't afford to take sides and if they do then they become a target of the side they are opposed.
