    I do like the way you give an unbiased review of the truck. Too many people have there favorite brand and then slant there reviews based off that but you don't do that in my opinion. Keep up the great work.

    My brother has one on order. His 2015 flooded in Harvey. Insurance paid him 5,000 less than he bought it for. That means he drove it almost 3 years for 5k. They hold their value very well. That goes for the top line trucks from GM, Ford, and Dodge.

      I can guarantee you that it wasn't cash value they paid solely.
      It was probably cash value + 25% like USAA does.

    GMC always made a nice truck, they were always known for their resale value. And of course the Duramax, what a good dependable engine. As long as you don’t kill it or the truck, it will last for a good 375,000 or more till it’s first rebuild. Always know what application you want and your budget and do the proper servicing, it will run for a long long time!! Can’t wait to see what you have done next to the 450!!!😃😃😃

    When you drive in snow, the rear end of a vehicle will collect snow especially at the corners where the turn signals are. LED lights produce little heat incandescent lights do, which helps melt the snow clearing the lens making the rear end more visible. Of course it still takes an cognizant operator to know that you need to turn on your lights on. The rate at which the snow falls, your speed, wind direction and temperature can nullify the effect but it's still serves a function. Some people might not know but it does snow in the panhandle sometimes.

    I'm going to rattle a few with this comment...Manufacturer Rebates = Manufacturer paying you to buy their truck. He makes a good point regarding General Motors not inflating MSRP to allow for huge rebates to make you think you got a great deal. They sell the truck based on the proven Duramax & Allison...not money off or discount.

    • @YFZMoto
      @YFZMoto 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can still get them around here for about 5 Grand off the sticker, I have been looking at buying the 18 model.

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YFZMoto, that sounds right. Most dealers will sell them for close to invoice to put a deal together. Hold-back on a Denali is around $2100, plus whatever advertising $ the dealer tries to hold onto. So even at invoice, they are still making about $3000 depending on how much advertising they charge to the unit.

      Laura Buick GMC in St. Louis (Technically Collinsville, IL) has HD trucks for $8,000+ off. Some months $10,000+ off sticker price. Even great discounts on lifted/bigger tire HD's too.

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      98stand, I've seen that too...especially on the Rocky Ridge/Tuscany type builds. Don't get me wrong, there definitely are certain times of the year when General Motors has larger than normal rebates on inventory...when they have too many trucks on the ground… Rebates are what moves them. I feel like the light duty Silverado All-Star edition always seems to have at least $10,000 off all year.

    You should do some research on the wax coated frames compared to the E-Coated frames up in the rust belt areas of our country. You guys don't have to deal with rust down in Texas like we do up here in the north. I have a 2017 Silverado and I did notice when I took my truck in for it's first preventive maintenance the wax coating did come off where the lift contacted the frame.

    Nice video. Something I don't like on GM trucks is where they place the 4x4 knob. Why do they place it in the same spot as where the headlight knob is? Its easy to confuse both of those knobs, since they are the same size. I also noticed the DEF tank is under the hood. Hopefully they place that in the back of the truck like Ford and RAM do.

    Great video. There's a couple things GM does with there trucks I just don't get like having the DEF fluid tank so low I would be worried about going off-roading plus it is under the hood to fill it up instead of having it right next to the diesel fuel up like Ford and Dodge. Imagine if you lifted it how much it would suck to fill it. Plus no rear AC vents. And of course stupid wax-coated frame. I know it does a great job of protecting but it just looks like shit after about a month. The discounts I think just depends on time of year. My friend got a 2016 Denali for $9,000 off last year because the 17s had come out. Thanks for the video 😀😀

    Great video, I've been interested in the GMC HD truck's because they look nice and they have been running the Duramax for many years, unlike Ford who has only been making a diesel since 2011. I agree the DEF tank needs too be tucked under the truck, no telescoping mirror's on a 70K truck is stupid IMHO plus for that price I can get a Ford F-350 CCDRW.

      Still have my 05 Chevy and no issues with the LLY at all. But then I only have 35,000 miles on it and it only tows 17,000 lb trailers once in awhile and never in the southern states where it's hot. But then I took some steps to eliminate the heating issues. Mirrors. Yeah my right one died in 2014. Swear I'm gonna see if I can repair it. Smarter to just buy new mirrors. Hard to justify buying a new truck since I'm never in the US more than 30 days a year.

    Let me get this out, I like all the big three domestic names trucks wether HD SD or Mis size. For my money I’d more than likely go with the GM HD trucks, yes the Ram has a great engine and interior, but do not drive and handle as well on road. Same with the Ford. But if my trailer weight was above the safe towing limits of a GM? I would look at both Ford and Ram to find what is out there and find the best deal. As far as the DFE tank, GM really should find a better place for it! A suggestion would be inside the void in the rear quarter panels of the bed, even if they had to use both sides!

    Membrane switches on the steering wheel are a bad idea, long term. The switch works, but the cover wears out, then cracks around its flex point. Put it in a spot where there is constant rubbing, with getting in/out and steering the vehicle, and you have a possible longevity issue. Plus, GM has never been known for its button materials durability.
    I guess time will tell, though.

    Great review, I recently bought the Chevy version of this truck, 2500 high country. I love it and you missed one of my favorite features. Those lights on the mirrors are awesome for backing up a trailer at night. You combine them with the outside cab light and it makes a huge difference backing at night. The truck is missing some run of the mill options like push button start. At that price point that should be standard.

I work at a dealership and know how expensive it gets when things like smart keys, power mirrors, body ecu fail, panoramic sunroof leak, etc I'm not bias to any brand..just loved the Chevy for what it is. Plus the interior was more comfortable out of them.

      Bryan Henderson He wanted a truck with LED headlights and the most towing. He contradicted his own reason for why people should buy a truck.

    hate where gm put def fill, hold a big 2.5 gal jug up to fill it, an square wheel wells for round tire

      @jpatt973 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Smith I love the square wheel well think it makes the truck look sharp so I guess it's just a matter of opinion as far as the def fill I've seen people loan the truck out and someone make a mistake of putting the wrong stuff in the wrong place where Ford and Dodge put their def fills I personally like the def fill underneath the hood separate from the fill of the fuel doesn't bother me at all

    Can you add a dB meter to your gadgets? I'd like to know the dB of the exhaust from inside the cab, inside with the windows down, and outside of the cab. Overall the GM's are impressive. I believe I still prefer the King Ranch F250 over the Denali due to Blind spot monitoring. Maybe I'm getting old where modern safety features are the point of differentiation :P

    Very nice truck...i do wish Ford would do some of those things they added in the package , your right that truck in Ford would be a Platinum.., but still love my super duty more...i just think that Ford has really done well with the heavy duty part compared to others...from frame to axles to so many things that are stronger as far as I see..thanks for the video

    Thnx to you I trade in my 2017 silverado ltz 1500 for a 2017 Ford F-350 lariat , Ford super duty looks way better as my f350 has the led headlights and tail lights , ford has a lot more room in the back seats and the panoramic roof

    I'm a gm guy,but wax coated frames,bad def tank design,transmission cooler next to drive line,and uncoated brake lines are major flaws on gm's part,makes me start considering f250..gotta few months to think about it!!!

      dds1130 I own a 2015 Chevy 2500 HD with a Duramax it has coated brake lines the diff tank fill is under the hood but I have no problem with that I personally feel it's a better idea so nobody can make a mistake of putting the wrong stuff in the wrong place by the fuel fill I do understand that the tank location underneath sticking down probably isn't the best but I personally use my truck more on-road than off so it makes no difference to me I'm up in the Northeast I also have a 2011 Chevrolet with wax-coated frame and it hasn't rotted at all and I do see in my shop ford e coated frames coming in rotted and in my opinion nothing even comes close to what the Duramax offers especially with the Allison Transmission good luck on your choice with your truck one thing's for sure no matter which one you buy they're all expensive ford being the most expensive

      James Patterson thanks for the info,ford and ram builds some really nice trucks,I own a Chevy1500,but even with the flaws I really,really like these gmc denali's with the duramax's..pretty sure I'll buy one!!

    That coating isn't very good in the NorthEast, a person has to take an additional step and use a coating, such as Chassis Saver, in order to limit the corrosion from road salts and calcium chloride. Even upon frequent washings during the winter any coating takes it hard.

    gonna piss off a lot of people, i too am a GM guy, but his assessment on the equality of the Denali and the ford Platinum is not the same. Yes the price of the Platinum is ridiculously high but the Platinum has way more features than the Denali. For instance it has messaging seats, driver seat vibrates when a vehicle or pedestrian in behind the truck, i believe the Platinum has 360 degree camera and does have back seat air vents and heated back seats as well. The Platinum has panoramic sun roof the Denali only has the sun roof, the Platinum also has power extending mirrors as well as power folding mirrors. Now i don't know if those features are considered extra if you want them on the platinum or standard, for the price, i hope they are standard. I'm sorry the Denali does not match up with the ford platinum on bells and whistles, although the price of the platinum, all those nice features better be standard. Oh and one more feature the Platinum has that the Denali doesn't, is power folding running boards, the Denali has basic running boards on they're 3/4 and one ton denali's.

    You are wrong on the rebates. We see similar rebate numbers here in the NW and California on all brands. Of all the brands I have had more problems finding discounts on Fords.
    As a volume or company buyer the amount of discount I regularly see is Ram at the highest, GM second with Fords offering the least in pricing of MSRP.
