The video and performance are both delightful, but the over-use of effects, particularly from the pickup and synthesizer, is overpowering the harp's inherent rich and mellow tone. I believe a more balanced approach, such as reducing the effects output by -10dB, would have resulted in a more progressive sound without compromising the harp's natural beauty.
@@Pole_Queen Hey thank you. I promise you there were no fx used at all, and the sound you heard as a synthesizer is in fact the sound of the wind blowing through the harp strings! If you type in “aeolian harp”or “wind plays the harp” in youtube you will find other videos of this sound. It was a very windy day so that’s why it’s so loud, unfortunately there was nothing I could do to reduce it as it’s all one mono audio file from the harp pick up. Maybe next time I’ll record on a hill in park where the wind is not as strong… as the wind by the sea was quite extreme.. but that was the point of this video, to play with the wind ! :)
@@marysiaosu For the purpose of conveying the sensation of wind, I believe that recording only the sound of wind would be more suitable. Given that all strings on a harp are open, it is prone to generating unwanted harmonics which can be perceived as noise. Furthermore, harmonics from open strings that do not align with the played chords or melody produce dissonance. While there is no need for further explanation if your concept is to 'play with the wind,' from a different perspective, if we consider the wind as a conscious entity, it might perceive the harp's sound as noise. This is quite ironic. If it's not possible to adjust the levels between the harp and other feedback sounds, it might be less taxing for your TH-cam audience to listen to only the harp.
