Btw, it baffles my mind how that small new eraser can turn into what looks to be a larger mass kneaded form. Also on texture, either buy the recommended kneadable erasers or try several till you find one you like as some I've tried feel far too rigid to be kneadable by anyone but the hulk.

Thanks for this informative upload. I’m still struggling with graphite shine with my drawings. I like how you explain how the different grades of pencil are used for drawing.
Hi Nora and thank you so much for the comment. The shine is just the nature of graphite as it is basically a crystal, that is why the darker grades shine more because of the higher graphite content. You can reduce the shine slightly by building up layers of tone but its only a little. I have got some of the new Faber Castell Graphite Matt pencils to review, as they claim to have a reduced shine. I haven't tried them yet but will hopefully have that video out next week. I have heard mixed reviews from people that I know so am interested to find out for my self. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Jennifer, There should be a part of the pad that is un-glued and then just either use a knife or plastic blade/spatula or even a thin ruler and then just slip it into the gap and run it around the block carefully to separate a sheet. Take your time and be careful not to scratch the paper. They do this to keep all of the sheets very flat so as they don't wrinkle. If you are going to try the embossing technique make sure you do it on a smooth board, I usually find something like MDF is good for this. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Jamie
All pencils work different from one make to the other and I find that the CARAN d'ACHE Grafwoods don't really smudge that much but they are much more expensive than other makes so no need for fixative, any smudging that I do get I just tend to clean up at the end with the putty eraser. I would also say that I would never use a fixative anyway because at the end of the day it is a chemical and it will change the finished look of the picture but it is all down to personal choice.

The dart is a great tip, used other tools, will convert my old titanium Harrows darts to drawing and etching tools!!! Less is more!
