We are BACK with part 2 of my deep dive on Enzo Maresca! This time we are focussing more on the personnel within the system rather than the system itself - hopefully I have answered some of you guys' questions! Please leave the video a like if you did enjoy the video, it really helps out the channel, and of course subscribe for more content like this! (Let's aim for 200 likes!) Note: Tosin Adarabioyo was basically confirmed to be a Chelsea player after I recorded this, so he'll most likely be a Chelsea starter next season! #cfc #ktbffh #coyb ~Mono
Again another great video. I think Enzo will play in the no. 6 position. I think the manager will implement his passing ability & play him like Kross. Caicedo as a box to box. Palmer as an advanced 8.
I think the best suited positions are Enzo/ lavia as DM/No 6 Caicedo/Casedie as Box to box/No 8 Palmer/Nkunku as AMF/No 10 Maduweke/Olise as RW Mudryk/Sterling as LW Jackson/? as striker
- Lavia yes, Enzo not so much - Caicedo possibly, Casadei more advanced imo - Almost certainly yes - Yep - Sterling no, he's likely leaving, Mudryk as a backup of we buy a new LW - Yep
Maybe not that people dislike Gallagher but it’s clear that the board will sell him in the summer, especially while he’s not signing an extension and doesn’t have the technical ability of the likes of Lavia, Fernandez and Caicedo, whom also all cost more than Gallagher and are therefore going to be favoured as the board will want to see their money succeeding rather than a Cobham graduate who they view as pure profit uncashed… 🤷🏾♂️
He's a good player for some systems but he absolutely does not fit this system. He's not great controlling the ball and will ignore runs and pass the ball backwards way too much.
@@TheDominic1011 i agree he’s definitely less technical but his workrate in my opinion is elite. I hope he is offered a new contract but we will see happens what happens.
He misses so many passing opportunities that caicedo enzo and lavia wouldn't, I think he's a good player but caicedo and lavia can do what he does better imo and enzo offers something different. Gallagher is Jack of all trades master or none and when we have so many talented cms, cai enzo lavia Santos casadei ugo makes no sense to keep Gallagher especially since he'll want a big contract and is a rotational player
Concerning Enzo and Caicedo, upon studying what Maresca did with Winks and Ndidi, i am quite certain Enzo will sit deeper than we think. He will be where Caicedo is in your setup to control tempo and circulation and the long ball to widemen tactic if the midfield is congested. Dont get me wrong Caicedo can do that easily too but i think Maresca would want Caicedo going forward and being in the press that the 2 8s willl be expdcted to do and also support Enzo and James when we lose the ball or the press is beaten. Caicedo like Ndidi would be expected to also arrive in the box as well as linkup with the CF when he drops deep.
I think the next forseeable problem is trimming down the squad. We need to improve the injury situation and trim down the squad. We have many players suited for various styles but once we set on one, we need to get good value for the rest and improve our financial situation or reinvest
It doesn’t really matter whichever side he inverts his fullback at leicerster he did it not the right because or Pereira it doesn’t mean it won’t invert Cucurella
Mudryk with some space and his speed going in a 1v1? Thats his game. But his crosses arent great. Thats the problem. He needs to invert. Have a give and go to create a chance or strike himself. Next year is crucial for Micha hit the ground. If not "knock knock" Paez is on your heels from now on. He joins in 25 and is ment to be imidatly part of the squad.
Does anyone think Moses can play as a right back to invert as a double pivot, the reece james role? He is so defensively minded and can also pass. This applies to Lavia as well
Although there maybe no compromise on the structure with Maresca, I think we can have some variety through using different players within the roles. Although he may not have shown much willingness to change his line-ups, I think he will learn that the game is squad game now, due to congested schedule, not a starting XI game. So many of our players are versatile enough to play different roles that it can change how we play to adapt to our opposition, especially until we develop into a team like City or Arsenal that always impose their style on the game.
I agree. Very dependent on matchups and incomings/outgoings so we can't know for sure - but I think Enzo would *prefer* to try and keep his core 11 the same so they can be all on the same page, similar to how Pep/Arteta only make a handful of changes in their systems. Personally I'm excited to see who he chooses/seems good enough and pre-season should be a big indicator of that!
What about Sterling? I've been seeing videos where people have put caicedo in a full back role so that enzo can play deeper. what is your opinion on that? I also low-key feel that people are sleeping on Omari Hutchinson, he balled championship last season and could be there for left wing as he is exceptional in 1v1's.
I expect Sterling to leave this summer in all honesty so didn't include him - Omari is fantastic and if we got McKenna I think we'd have implemented him into the side, but we didn't. I'd expect him to go out on loan to Ipswich again next season to get Prem experience in a familiar setting, but if he impresses in pre-season I can 100% see him playing a part in the first team if Enzo likes him! As for the Caicedo part, I spoke about that briefly in the previous video, and whilst I think it's a viable strategy it would exclude James from the lineup and there's no way out Captain and lynchpin isn't starting.
Considering the amount of matches we have, I'd imagine another striker being brought in would just be extra depth and Jackson would rotate with them. That being said Jackson is perfectly capable of playing as a LW and he could be deployed there if we get a proper CF.
Personally I think he will really love noni Madueke if u look at his winger in madvidi and fatawu they were leading the championship for take ons attempted and in this Chelsea squad noni is the best a consistently pinning fullbacks to the touchline and beating him repeatedly I think Palmer is too good of a player to use in this role coz it takes him out the heart of the game so Palmer as an 8 and noni as the rw is perfect
Totally agree, which is why I suggested using him on the left if we DO get Olise - I think he's exactly the type of profile Enzo is looking for so we'll have to see during pre-season who he decides to use as his wingers!
I'd rather see chelsea make the big money signing nearing the end of pre session. In case all players are fit and perform well against madrid and city, and mabye see a players from the academy given a opportunity like maino.Since chelsea have one of the best academies in the world thier bought to be one superstar in their
I don’t think it’s much to think about. Enzo will play the Winks role and Caicedo will play the Ndidi role. Plus I only see Nuknu and Palmer playing that double 8 role when we’re chasing the game, not from the start.
This is a silly way to look at how Leicester setup because they didn't strictly have roles for those two players, and in fact a lot of the time Winks was the deeper midfielder with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as the more advanced midfielder alongside Akgun in the 10. Ndidi and Winks pretty much played the same role, it just depended on who was playing. As I said later on, I don't expect Nkunku to play as one of the inside forwards because Enzo is so important to our team - He's most likely going to be playing on the wing or as a False 9, but he can come into one of the inside 10 positions IF Enzo or our RW (Madueke or Olise) has dropped out of the side for any reason - i.e Palmer going to RW if Madueke is injured and Nkunku taking his vacant 10 role.
@@MariaGomes-q4c We haven't seen Enzo play in the 8 role yet - Pochettino played him as a LF, up against the CBs. He's more than just a deep-lying playmaker, as we saw when he played for Benfica and Argentina, but Poch was a useless tactician that completely miss-profiled our entire midfield.
@@monocfc True but he's probably one of our least mobile players, a deeper role that's further back surely plays to his strengths? Meanwhile frees up caicedo to get involved. Or even, could we see Caicedo in that inverted rb role? He's played rb a few times before, but is obviously going to spend most of his time in midfield anyways.
Excited! We have a team that is perfect for possession based football, and we didn't really get to see it fully utilised under Pochettino. Maresca could be our Pep/Arteta, and is signing a long term deal (5 years I believe) so hopefully we've got some stability for the future as well as the present!
Mentioned him in part 1 - it's pretty obvious where he fits into the team considering he's only been used as a 10, so I didn't feel it was worth mentioning.
Maresca is a very stubborn manager and I am 95% sure he isn't going to change how he plays. Tuchel is a much more flexible coach with multiple formations and he used what he thought suited Chelsea the most at the time. Besides, a 3-4-2-1 is just a fancy way of saying 3-4-3, which the 3-2-2-3 is a variant of. I would be VERY shocked if Enzo starts deploying a system with overlapping wingbacks considering his entire game plan is based around short passing and possession.
@@monocfc he has only truly been a head coach at one team so Idk if I agree that much that we can be certain he wouldn't adapt when needed in another team. I agree with you that he will probably set up as you describe in the video but wouldn't be that surprised if he doesn't.
bro said petro has never costed us this season. He is literally the reason why we drew against burnley and was statistically worse than Sanchez on the season
He made a mistake in the Burnley game but that was not the reason why we drew, the entire backline was terrible that day and we couldn't score more than 2 goals either. One big mistake in your first season in English football is a bloody good return for a young keeper. I'd like to see these "statistics" that show Petrovic was worse than Sanchez, too. Cause I highly doubt they exist.

Well said. I concur. Nkunku would be utility option for these roles. Advanced 8, LW and CF.
Chukumeka/ nkuku/ Parmar as 10
I don’t understand why people dislike gallagher so much. He fits this system really well. Based on merit he did a good job last season.

No whiff about Sterling?😅
I highly doubt Sterling stays this summer tbh, especially considering we are looking at LW options like Summerville and Williams
L/R sided 8, not 10
8.
In 4-3-3 the setup is for 8s, not a lone 10
Please tell me where I said that, cause I didn't. I was talking about the 4-2-3-1.
Wait until he plays a 3 4 2 1 like TT and made all of you clueless 😂. TT was never playing with wing backs before Chelsea...
