We are BACK with another match preview - Welcome to the #Leadin! Tomorrow we set our sights on Nottingham Forest, a tough prospect for our Blues. If you enjoyed the video, make sure to leave it a like, and subscribe to the channel for more previews like this!
If we start Lavia it’s for Enzo. If we drop Madueke it will be for Neto. Don’t think we will ever see Palmer playing on the wings again, unless the change is mid game where we are chasing the match.
QOTD: I have to disagree with your lineup. Maresca lines up with a 4-2-3-1 on paper but morphs into a 4-4-2 in defence. In attack, depending on the opposition, he transitions into a 3-2-4-1 against teams who play a back four and transitions into a Hybrid diamond 3-4-3/3-3-4 against teams who play a back five. For context. Against a back four it would look like this in attack. Jackson Sancho Enzo Palmer Madueke Caicedo Gusto Cucurella. Colwill. Fofana. Against a back five, it would be like this for 3-3-4 Sancho Jackson Palmer Madueke Enzo. Caicedo. Gusto Cucurella Colwill Fofana Or Diamond 3-4-3 Sancho. Jackson. Madueke Palmer Enzo. Gusto Caicedo Cucurella. Colwill. Fofana Enzo Maresca prefers to use a natural 10 and specialist wingers, thats why using Palmer on the right isnt an option and apart from the Man city game, he hasnt used Palmer again on the right. If you see how he rotates his team, its also obviously why Felix starts when Palmer isnt. Using Enzo Fernandez in 10 hasnt worked and Maresca knows this. I could be wrong though, but this is a consistent trend I've noticed. The 3-3-4 formation is used to make the wingers pin the fullbacks and centrallize Palmer and Jackson while occupying the CB's so as to open the half spaces, while the 3-4-3 diamond is used to force a CB out of position drawing them into the midfield to take advantage of space behind the lines. Pardon the lengthy write up. I just wanted to emphasize my understanding across. Please feel free to disagree or butress your reason for your selection if you need to. Thanks.
My change would be playing nkunku ahead of jackson for this game just because of the profile. Nkunku is good in tight spaces and clinical. We wont get many chances so we need to make use of what chances we get and jackson wont have space to run in behind. We need to get a goal early to open up that forest defence a bit. I have always believed that to get the best out of our attacking depth, along with setting up tactics depending on the opposition,we should pick the team depending on the opposition as well. Because it will get really difficult if forest get one goal early
I don't expect us to win this game HONESTLY. This is indeed our toughest game since city. NF have mastered the art of defending especially in small pitches like ours and it'll be a test of our defenders because our attack will struggle to break them down. I hope Sanchez has an inspired game because we'll really need him in this game. If we score early, it'll be a win for us though and I think our players should invite them to come out by scoring early. It's a true test for our attacking play. AOTD: I think we should swap Fofana for Tosin in this one and start the rest PS: I AGREE WITH YOUR FORMATION AND CHOICE OF PLAYERS 100%. EXCELLENT TACTICAL ANALYSIS!!
QOTD: My line up would be the same as your except I would go for Mudueke Palmer and Sanco. I feel like we need to be easy with Lavia and reintergrate hime slowly by him coning off the bench to close the game down. I think we let Madueke start for a few more games just so he can perhaps play through this slightly rough patch. I say this because I dont want Palmer out wide as much as he can still do a job I believe he is more affective in that number 10 position as he is also able to switch out with Jackson while attacking. Jackson also being a winger is comfortable in gowing out wide allowing Palmer to come up for goals and finishes.
People seem not to understan Playing that mid against forest makes no sense. You basically put 3 goal scorers nomatter the fancy position swaps you are doing there which can be easily marked out. 1.Neto won't work well because he relys on pace not skills to beat a man which might work against teams that have a high line but not at teams that seat back (eg Palace). There won't be that many transitions from us so you want skill rather than pace( as there is no space in behind 2. Forest will obviously defend with a back 5 which means stretching the has little effect than stretching a back 4. So I don't think playing palmer at RW and overlapping gusto will work, it just kills the RW.So you really need wingers that are good 1v1 (Look at what diaz and salah were doing) to cause chaos in the backline not the ones that are good running in behind( rely on pace rather than skill). 3. Playing palmer at RW just to invert him in the 10 makes no sense, it just kills the RW( As gusto is less of a threat than madueke). Forest are going to conjest the center anyway. I would rather keep the same lineup and just use a diamond midfield with gusto underlapping so that we attack with 6 players so that we can easily have 2 players a each wing which will alow forest to commit even more players and open up spaces
Smart lineup I agree let's use Palmer more efficiently and do the build up for him with three midfielders. Palmer and Jackson will have less touches but need to be very clinical in the first half.
Formation: (4-3-3) Sanchez Gusto Fofana Colwill Cucurella Lavia Caicedo Palmer Sancho Neto Jackson This is a perfect line up Palmer,Sancho,Colwill and Lavia have the potential to unlock their low block with their passing plus having the pace of Neto and Jackson can surprise them to catch them off guard at times.
Great vid! Got to be honest though, I think you should be more harsh on Cucurella or look into how he can’t guard any of the top attackers. Veiga is miles ahead and like you said… Forest are known for their aerial talent.
There is no way Maresca is moving Palmer to the right. He is arguably the best player in the league right now. You don't want to risk losing that to fit either Lavia or Enzo in. I think we should keep the squad the same. If things are not going our way, I would like to see Neto and Nkunku subbed on though.
@@SinuheAncelmoUnLibroParaSebas leave him alone, you're right, he's a dam good defender, I see him going to a top 6 side or the Spanish league top 2. Hopevits a good game may the best team win 👍
QOTD: Sanchez Fofana, Colwill, Cucu Gusto, Caicedo Palmer, Enzo Noni, Jackson, Sancho As much as id like to see a mf 3 of enzo, moi and romeo, i doubt maresca will want to sacrifice the width a natural winger like noni/neto offers as well as the fact that gustos strong suit isnt taking men on and jackson isnt as aerially dominant to consistently finish off crosses into the box
Surprise u when for a midfield 3 of Enzo, caicedo and lavia and playing palmer a a rw/10 for me imo we don't need 2 DM we need another attacker and having gusto a temporary rw is good but the defense transition is going to be crazy similar to what they did to Liverpool and Cho scored
We are already susceptible to the transition, which is Forest's main weapon. We don't need another attacker, we need to prevent their counter-attacks. We never struggle to create chances, that's not an issue, our issue is we are conceding a lot due to defensive mistakes and being exposed on the transition. Adding Lavia into the team would help alleviate those problems.
3-2-5 is ambitious Fofana Colwil Cucurella Caicedo Lavia Palmer Nkunku Madueke Sancho Jackson Lavia can push up to make it 6 v 5. I think they will play a low block because Chelsea is better team now.
