love how he does the side that doesn’t have brake lines in the way
Bro, you have a lot of faith in that jack!
I just did this and it took an hour including cleanup. The brake line is flexible so it was only a slight inconvenience. I do have an electric impact wrench, not as nice as the one used in the video but still a game changer. Great video, straight to the point, wrench size and torque specs included
@@chuckhall5347 Awesome! Glad this video was helpful 🙂
Agreed! It was a really straight forward job and both sides took me about the same time as well. I was careful of the brake lines on the driver's side, but they really didn't affect the job in my experience. A "S" style 18mm wrench made getting to the nut behind the upper bracket way easier at least for me. Also, it is technically recommend to torque bushing bolts like these at "ride height" to limit stress on the bushings; I used my jack (since the van was on stands) to compress each side to approximate ride height when torquing down. Thanks for the vid, VMA!
My old struts weren't blown, but the top bushings on both were so bad that you could rotate the shocks by hand pretty significantly. They were making this awful clunking sound (like a loose muffler) just driving down the road in case anyone has a similar issue.
And another awesome vid! Changed these out quick!
Mind elaborating on the brake line issue on the other side? Looking to do my van here soon
Wow, super easy
@@limited50scla Yeah, these are nice! 👍
I installe 2 KYB ..The worst shocks i ever had ..My van jumping and i don,t know why .???? :( this is great video !!!!!!!!!!
@@THEEDYMITAJ Glad this video was helpful 👍. Usually KYB is a decent brand. I wonder if you just got a defective one?
Safety stands, prime the shock before you install it
Thank you !!!
I had to find the sweet spot for the wrench on the passenger side of the van; that was a bit tricky. Still have to do the drivers side; hopefully it’s a bit easier. I also had to go to the hardware store to get a new bolt because the head of the old one was rather stripped.
@@andrewps84 Glad you got it 👍
No compression of the shock before install?
Some manufacturers recommend compressing the shock a few times. It wouldn't be a bad idea if did.
Hi thank you very much for your video. But I don't have a tork wrench.any advice
@@ruskin1449 I would highly recommend purchasing one. A torque wrench will ensure the bolt is tightened correctly. I have a good inexpensive one in the description 👍
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive I'm not a professional just looking to save money on the install
@@ruskin1449 Even more reason to invest in a torque wrench. Plus it will help in future repairs. Every bolt has a torque value 🙂
What about the struts?
@@heppner77 I have a strut repair video as well 👍
Lol bullshit. Bolts never come off that easy. And u didnt even do the hard one
@@tylerbailey9530 I was happy with how smoothly the bolts came off on both sides. I didn't notice there was a hard side or easy side. They were both easy in my opinion 👍
